1. I have a Longhorn and DC bass - wouldn't trust either of those with just a gig bag without some extra serious packaging. The Wild Thing has even more twiddly bits, so just ripe for damaging I would have thought.
2. Nice. And still got the ashtray.
3.
Me too! Warts 'n' all.
Never been much of a Motorhead fan, beyond Plate of Spuds I've always regarded most of their stuff as noisy simplistic plodding with some tracks a bit faster than others. Of course, all IMO etc etc. Saw them at Hyde Park and they were dire - although actually better than I expected - but Lemmy just looked like a sad old and very ill man.
4. A lot of bass for the money. I had one for a while - great thing, well made, easy to play, sounds massive. This one looks well clean, too. Sure you aren't interested in trades, Sir? And what does this one weigh, please?
5. Tbh you don't even need a soldering iron - a screw terminal block does the job, if less elegantly.
6. Excellent. Welcome to the club! Be interested to hear how much this one weighs and other vital stats.
7. After breaking a string once I always take a back up bass - often my little Hohner B2A cricket bat if space is restricted. I keep a back up amp in the car - in one of my bands one of the guitarist had his amp fail one gig at soundcheck, the other guitarist had a spare in the car. I have a Behringer BDI21 just in case), spare instrument leads, spare kettle lead, spare strings... never feel quite comfortable unless I have all this lot.
8. And a 'I really can't believe why this hasn't sold' type bump. I am almost giving it away!* - legendary mid 80s MIJ build quality - top quality upgrades - looks the business - sounds immense Open to trades - wotcha got? Doesn't hurt to ask. *thus the price is firm in case anyone is waiting for a price drop.
9. £75! Mine was quite a bit more than that... but worth every penny, I think. It is basically an A series MIJ Squier medium scale Precision, which are totally brilliant, but in a funny shape. Probably my second favourite bass to play, behind my A series MIJ medium scale Precision... (sorry Ted)
10. I actually find the body shape really comfy. No upper bout so my expansive waistline has room for, er, expanding. Nothing to chafe my forearm on when I start digging in. And, yes, medium scale and slim neck are perfect for me, too. And light as a feather without sacrificing a huge sound - it sounds to me *very much* like a JV Squier P I have but perhaps a tad more aggressive. It has become my bass of choice for a new 'rock anthem' covers band
11. Not last night but Friday - my band Illegal Tender played at The Bell in Castle Hedingham for the first time. Great village, great pub, great food, great gig! We really went down well - particularly nice as two people complemented me on my bass playing afterwards
12. I don't know it this is at all relevant but I'll trot it out anyway. I recently moved from 2 x Barefaced cabs (Compact + Midget) with a TC Electronic 450 head to a Supercompact and single head - either TC RH 750 or - my first choice - a Markbass LM Tube 800. So going from a less powerful amp and 4ohm load to more powerful amp and an 8ohm load. I did this mainly so I wasn't carrying so much kit around, rather than any aim to improve my sound which I was quite happy with. Despite the extra power in the new head(s) with the new set up I have less headroom and need to up the amp volume in terms of where the dial; is (over halfway now, used to be around 10 O'clock), so in effect I suppose I am driving both the amp and the cab more. I seem to now get a quality of tone that I was missing with the last set up - more guts, greater 'growl' or 'tone' whatever that is. It pleases me more than the last set up. Of course it could be down to the Supercompact being a better cab or that the MB LM Tube 800 in particular has the quality about it that I have been looking for (although I had a similar but not so marked improvement from the TC RH750). Either way I am really pleased with this unexpected improvement, although from what Alex said in post #40 this seems to be part of the plan It might be worth persevering with your single cab/existing amp set up.
13. I bought this recently - I used to have a USA Peavey Fury in bright red, found I couldn't live with the colour and sold it. I kind of missed it - an aggressive P bass sound in a lightweight body, Jazz neck package - so when a white one popped up on eBay I was all over it. And when I unpacked it I found that a/ it was absolutely disgustingly filthy and b/ it weighed 10lbs. Should have asked more questions! So, I stripped it, thoroughly cleaned it, put it back together and now offer it for sale as it is much too heavy for me. Domestic appliance white with white/black/white scratchplate, maple jazz-width neck. Sounds great. It had extremely old strings on it when it arrived and these made it sound very vintage Precision. But one was dead - so it is now sporting zingy new ones. Scratch plate is slightly warped in one spot, nothing much,. Bodywork is pretty good, neck is gorgeous - headstock sports the line around the edges - I believe this means it is one of the better early ones but am not sure on that. Silly price to get rid of it - £150 collected from SS71LD on the north Thames Delta, could meet half way or deliver locally for fuel or add £17 for insured overnight courier to mainland UK. https://www.dropbox....S3RiRCtya?dl=0# I'd consider trading this for another Fury in white or black *in similar condition* that weighed under 9lbs.
14. I think it must have been modified - they didn't make many. Gig bag as per post #5 - it is a bit baggy here and there plus it isn't the most padded of things but at least it fits in.
15. Back from Hols bump. If you bought it you could do what you wanted to the Pantera logo...
