1. Just been listed and currently at £125. 2. Washburn Force 40 just been re-listed, collection only from Witney. Starting bid £40. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Washburn-Force-40-bass-guitar-/321655482637?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item4ae429290d
3. Question about these. I just picked up a Danelectro DC bass that is missing one of the lipstick pickup height adjustment/fixing screws. Does anyone happen to know what size a replacement needs to be? Danelectro website doesn't list them as spares and seems strangely unhelpful for anything not listed. ta! Paul
4. Back from holiday bump with a price drop to £260. Yes, a handmade in UK vintage bass for the price of a Squier!
5. Bump. I'll be happy to trade this with something to equivalent value or +/- cash adjustment if necessary. Lights, good quality overdrive, decent mixer, what-have-you. If you are interested and have something kicking around to trade, run it past me. I can only say no. Edit additional 'non-bump' - going on holiday until 28th so won't be able to answer the huge pile of PMs until i get back.
6. Just about to join the club - I won a silver sparkle DC bass on ebay just now - and for a very reasonable price, too. Damn Basschat fuelling my GAS. I bought the Longhorn that was on offer here and absolutely love it, so when this popped up I thought I'd have a little punt. To my surprise I won. Got to be patient as I am off on holiday for a week before I can get my mitts on it.
7. Aria Pro II CSB 380 £100 BIN collection only Newcastle. Should make someone happy. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Blue-Aria-Pro-II-Cardinal-Series-CSB-380-Bass-Guitar-/171644660812?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item27f6d1ac4c
8. I bought this recently on here and have completely failed to bond with it so now moving it on. Original thread here http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2619525 This is a beautifully made bass, info from seller was that it was hand built in England in the 80s in an apparently limited run of around 200 and would have cost back then around £800. Very glossy black finish, single active EMG pickup, chunky bridge, 32" scale, set neck, 38mm wide at the nut, jumbo tuners, weighs around 8.5lbs. Absolute quality build. Issues. When i got it the G string was quiet compared to the rest. By a process of elimination I reasoned that the pickup was faulty and swapped it for an EMG active pickup, which also meant a complete change of electrics. So I did that. I discovered that, actually, the G string is still a little quiet and, looking into this, I discovered that the EMG pickup as originally fitted and also the new one are both for 50mm max string spacings. Listening carefully the E string was also a little quiet, which fits. Seems incredible, but this must be a design flaw. Currently the bridge, which looks like a Schaller, cannot be adjusted for string spacing to reduce it down to 50mm total width. What I have done is shifted the saddles closer to each other - the bottoms of the screw are now off their little tracks and tied this way with a cable tie. Bit of a Heath Robinson fix but it works - everything on the bridge is still adjustable. Pic shows exactly what is going on. If I were going to keep it I would swap out the bridge for a more adjustable one. But I don't want to spend any more money on it as I haven't bonded with it - the tone is just not one I want to have, I find it a bit too honky and nasally. but it is an EMG for heaven's sake, not rubbish! Currently fitted with flats. If you are looking for a lightweight, medium scale bass built to the highest standard then this could be for you. For the money it is a complete bargain. I paid £300 plus £57 for the pickup. For [s]£280[/s] £260 plus the cost of a bridge (if you felt like upgrading the cable tie affair, that is ) I doubt you'd find better value. £25 will get it posted to anywhere on mainland UK, ask for further afield. Collect from SS7 or meet half way. Ta! 9. Delighted to be the first to add a feedback thread for Rod. I bought his Danelectro Longhorn bass in the easiest of transactions. Lovely fellow to deal with, friendly, good comms, kept me informed all the time of what was happening. Bass arrived packed to withstand a nuclear attack in a good hardcase and well boxed and packaged. Bass is actually better than I could have imagined. The whole process was a pleasure and I wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again. Thanks Rod.
10. I've seen Limehouse Lizzy and I think they are very good. The main guy doesn't try to be Lynott but is just being himself. I guess they could be called a 'tribute' band in the real sense of the word tribute, rather than a cheap copy. IMO etc. Mind you the leftie guitarist is one of those odd fellows that plays with it upside down.
11. The 'Fender' logo on the early JVs was of the 'spaghetti' type, so I guess you are right that it is not the original. Looks like a nice bass, regardless.
12. Nah, black is best. I had one of these and it was really very good. Incredibly good for the money. And, by Jazz bass standard, lightweight, too. The ebonol neck is just as good on a fretted bass as a fretless.
13. I have a late 70s Fender Musicmaster that I had modded to sport a Precision pickup, so it now a bit like a Mustang. I call it my Mustangmaster. It's very nice. Although I have discovered that I like medium scale best of all.
14.
I always without fail plug the leads in to my pedals the wrong way round lol
Now you mention that... I currently use just the one pedal. A tuner. One input, one output. All I need to do is put the lead from the 'tuner out' at the back of the amp into the 'input' of the tuner. Without my glasses on I can't see what is written on the tuner, nor can I remember which way round it is from the general shape and configuration. But even statistically you would think I could get it right half the time? No.
15. I'd say the root of this is that keys, and guitars to an extent, are solo instruments and when people learn keys they learn to play an entire song, not just a part in it. Playing in the context of a band is something completely different and I think that is the rare skill. I blame Jools Holland.
16. Common occurrences for me are failing to un-mute the mute and re-tune the de-tuner.
17. I ordered a pile of stuff on 2nd, which was a Friday, got it on 8th. I'm really very happy with the service.
18.
I think time to jump ship before you start to really resent it.
^^Very much this^^
19. I bet this is full of character. In one of my bands the main guitarist has a Fender Strat custom shop jobbie that set him back a fair few quid. The other has a pair of 80s Tokai strats, and the first one always eyes up the second's guitars enviously. Someone should buy this! But not me - a shade too heavy.
20. 8lbs. That's not very much, is it. Edit - I need to think about this. I have been going into a bit of a buying frenzy lately and really ought to calm down. But it is a lovely bass, Mike! I'd trade you for one of my Peaveys except you've already bought them all
21. I had a Silver Series Precision that was absolutely brilliant. Tone to die for, lightweight, slim neck, and it was black with a black plate. At the time it was duplicating the bitsa that I used most of the time so I stupidly decided to sell it - someone on Basschat called Tom bought it. Unfortunately I deleted the PM correspondence and can't remember anything else about him, so now can't get in touch to see if he wants to sell it back (TOM?). Although last I remember hearing he was in love with it.
22.
I hesitated before posting the vid because of that. We've broken her of that habit now!
If we had Jenny Haan as our singer, we'd let her keep the music stand... still can't get over that story of how you 'found' her in your mum's kitchen! fairy tale stuff.
