1. I pull faces, twitch my head round jerkily and make seemingly random movements with the rest of my body. I've stopped worrying about it and just issue a disclaimer when playing with anyone new so they don't call for an ambulance.

Tis Gone
It's surprisingly light
Please surprise me....
3. I'm not saying they aren't better, just that it doesn't matter.
4. A lot of my basses cost less than £200, and I would (and do) gladly gig with them. A 'name' headstock decal only really matters to people who judge your playing by sight, not sound.
5. Not to me either - must be the fastest sale in history
6. Chrome ones, please. PM on its way
7. As a relative newbie and very occasional user in the world of fretless, I would recommend starting with a decent but cheap factory fretless - something like a secondhand Squier VM Jazz or (my preference) Westone Thunder 1A fretless - to see how you get on. You may not get on with a fretless or, indeed, you might take to it. In either case you can move on the bass for very little, if any, loss of cash to either upgrade or forget the idea. But defretting a bass, even if done professionally, will almost certainly devalue it. IMO etc.
8. Still here....
9. The duty is calculated after the shipping cost, as well. So, for example, your bass costs £200, shipping £50, duty calculated on £250 plus Parcel Force charge a handling fee - around £13 iirc.
10. Someone, don't know who, said it is similar to the type of 'present' that a cat gives you when it leaves it's latest rodent kill in the middle of your kitchen floor.
11. I would vote for a fretless Westone Thunder 1A. Unlined board, gorgeous tone. I replaced my Squier VM fretless with this as I think it is a better made, better sounding bass that goes for much the same, or less, money secondhand. Status black nylon flats, yum yum. Not me, but gives a good demo of the sound. http://youtu.be/WrzEzczWgCo
12. I can't make this one ...
13. That's the problem - you won't stay away. Can't stay away.
14. You could do a lot worse than look on the classified here... say, for example....shameless plug alert... a mid 80s Aria Pro II Laser Classic for £125, which would see off your Squier Jag any day of the week and leave you change http://basschat.co.uk/topic/242042-aria-pro-ii-leb-laser-electric-classic-l125/
15.
I did have GAS BB (Before Basschat), but didn't have nearly as much opportunity to act on it as I have had AB (After Basschat). So I blame BC (Basschat). So does the cmd (current mrs discreet).
WHS (what he said) I found 'the one' recently - my ideal bass. MIJ 1984 Squier medium scale Precision. Just feels comfy and right, somehow - plug in a play, simplicity and perfection. Except I have bought two since then...
16. It varies around here according to the venue. 2 x 45 mins plus encore to 2 x 75 mins incl. encore. £300 would be good money.
17. As a fellow back sufferer I found this video full of invaluable stuff. I found myself nodding and agreeing all the way through - all familiar techniques I have been taught in yoga and core strengthening exercises. So why haven't I been doing it when playing bass!! Should be pinned for sure.
18. Mine is sat 2 ft away, a ruler 1ft away - 38mm at the nut, 20mm deep at the first fret position. Not as skinny as the skinniest Jazz style necks such as a Geddy Lee, Jaguar or my Precision Lyte (which is 18mm deep at the first fret), but more like a 'regular' Jazz. Whatever that is.
19. Gosh. Vow Wow. haven given them a thought for about 20 years. I liked their cover of Helter Skelter, always preferred it to the Motley Crue one. http://youtu.be/KinBq2wHYDg I've always liked Deep Purple, I think they made (and continue to make) good music at all stages of their career. But DP mk II does it for me. DP mkIII was pretty damned good, but Roger Glover has to be my favourite rock bassist.
20. I pimped my damaged Fender Musicmaster to create a Frankenstein-esque 'Mustangmaster' ©®™ - lookie here http://basschat.co.uk/topic/242658-show-off-your-short-scales/page__view__findpost__p__2519732 Adding a Precision pickup made a huge difference to the tone. I think the bridge on these is functional at best but I decided I can live with it.
21.
Any love for lighter fluid?
Worked ok for Jimi Hendrix...
Might have just given people a decent excuse for a discount should you sell on this forum!
Must be why my Aria Pro II Laser Classic isn't selling.
In this instance however make sure you use a P cloth...
Or P on a J cloth, which is more versatile.
