"The design is registered with the Patent Office". Errr

Ironic that it is made from a stick used for hurling, as that is what felt like doing when I saw it. Lets hope he doesn't have a shillelagh knocking about anywhere. -
Sold a bitsa Thunder Jet Ray bass to Alan. Immediate payment, good comms throughout. Unfortunately the bass was slightly damaged in transit but Alan was really good about it and we have reached a mutually satisfactory conclusion to the deal. Hope you enjoy the bass

I sold an SGC Nanyo Bass Collection SB315 to Olivier. He is a great guy to deal with - speed of light payment, very friendly, great comms. I wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again.
-
Next feedback in line - Kris sold me the bass he bought from tedmanzie above! Smooth and business like transaction, good comms, beautifully packed, promptly dispatched. Bass is delightful, couldn't be more pleased!

Necuron 840! Sounds dangerously radioactive to me. Maybe the notes don't just sustain, they have a half-life?

SOLD SGC Nanyo Bass Collection SB-315 5 string, pearl white
Paul S posted a topic in Basses For Sale
I acquired this in a trade very recently after a bout of serious GAS. It has confirmed my suspicions - 5 strings is one too many for me, so off it goes. Here is John's original listing with much better pictures than I could hope to take - linked here with his permission. http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2466224 MIJ mid 90s, Gotoh hardware - these are the real deal, not a copy - a quality instrument. No issues. Priced to sell at a ridiculous £160 collected from SS7, meet half way or delivered for fuel within reasonable distance. Or £180 posted (mainland UK only). Cash on collection/ meet/ delivery, PayPal gift, bank transfer or personal cheque if you aren't in a hurry. Is there a better quality 5er offered for sale cheaper anywhere on the internet at the moment? I doubt it. -

Gumtree seems to work ok round this way, too. I recently advertised for a singer and had a good response.

Moving this one on, after all we've been through together! Started life as a Westone Thunder Jet. Bodily scarred when i got it, I gave it a polish so it is now a glossier finish than the usual matt black of a Thunder Jet. I fitted a J-East P-Retro, which made it a bit of a beast! Generic Gotoh-a-like high mass bridge. Mods - I had fairly serious GAS to try a Musicman style pickup in this, so I bought a Delano MM pup on here and sent it off to Bass Doc. Howard did the necessary routing to fit the pickup, custom made a black scratch plate, also fitted a series parallel switch into the plate together with the little LED for the P Retro. Then routed the back to make access better and made a custom cover. As you can see in the pics, he made a cracking job of it and it really is a lovely looking bass. Trouble is I don't like it the way it is now - I preferred it before, with the P-Style pickup. It plays very well - the Westone Thunder series are great quality and good for modding. The neck is lovely. This is one of the lighter models and there is very slight neck dive, cured by a wide strap. Not in EB0 league, though. The P-Retro, Delano pup and series/parallel switching makes this a very versatile bass. it doesn't sound like a Westone - nearer to a MM but not quite. Vital stats - weighs approx. 8lbs, neck is 40mm at the nut. 22 frets, currently fitted with D'Addario chrome flats. Be a shame to part it out so I am pricing it way below its worth. I am asking £160 collected from SS7, deliver within reason for fuel or meet half-way. Or £180 posted (mainland UK only). Need recommendations for replacement P bass bridge
Paul S replied to Subthumper's topic in Bass Guitars
I have tried Badass, Hipshot A style, Gotoh 201 and a cheap Gotoh-a-like. Hipshot was the very best by a long way. Also the most expensive. And heaviest (mine is brass). But a superlative bit of kit. Next best was the Gotoh 201, which is much cheaper but well engineered. Probably followed by the Badass which I personally think is vastly over-rated. In terms of value for money the generic Gotoh-a-like cost me £13 on eBay and does exactly the same job as the Gotoh, just not as good quality. -
but the cabs take up so little space and are so portable, so why not?
Absolutely, why not indeed. The footprint of a Compact is only a bit bigger than a Midget, so once you have that on the floor it is only extra vertical space if you stack the Midget on top... I usually rehearse with just the Midget, just because it suits me to do a 'one trip from the car' lug. But for gigs it is just lovely to get the full sound.

I bought a Wizard Trad pickup from Neil at a very keen price - speedily dispatched. Nice guy to deal with - cheers!
Poke the last bit of the cable through the cab handle to take the stress off the amp's input socket
That is a good idea. Thank you.
This. And tuck the other end through your strap. and use a right-angled plug at the bass end.
Yup, I'm on that one. Although it is difficult to do that with my EUB, which has a bit of a flaky input anyway.
-
I have one of the Fender ones. I like it - looks brilliant - but it is very heavy. Seems to extert a lot of pressure on the amp input.
-
I played my first gig at 50! Have a great time.

Another Midget + Compact user - I'm in no hurry to change it as I love the sound - the whole is greater than the sum of the parts!

This was mine, I traded it with John for a 5er he had that I had GAS for. I am almost tempted to buy it back as it is an absolutely cracking bass. 7.5lbs of Fugi-jen's finest with the skinniest neck I have played. And I have a penchant for skinny necks, too. The marks shown are pretty well it as far as superficial damage is concerned, it shines with a deep piano black that belies its age. This has done the Basschat rounds, when I got it the electrics had been converted to passive with new pickups (but included the old bits in the sale). I put it back to stock and had the knackered preamp put back to fully working again. Be quite interested if all the previous owners could chip in as, to my knowledge, there were 2 Basschatter owners before me.
-
And it was mine until oldslapper and I traded. It is an absolutely cracking bass. Pencil thin neck, superb build quality, great sounds.
-
Mrs S is looking forward to that. I saw them last year locally at a small venue and they were brilliant. I believe they have a pool of musicians spread over several countries - almost a franchise!

Rock and Roll Hoochie Coo, what a great track. As an aside, the version of it I like best is by Johnny's brother Edgar - here playing with Rick Derringer (who wrote it) and an almost unrecognisable Dan Hartman on bass. http://youtu.be/XdHnGyU1yJQ
