There are times when I believe I am punishing myself with my recent one-in, one-out policy - and this is one of them, love it
You could always make it more of a guideline than a policy?... Looks like the de-tuner is sold (thanks Mike). When I take that off I'll change the bridge, too, so it will be back to the BBOT. Also - I won't be at my pc from early tomorrow until Tuesday in case anyone wants to get in touch. Ta! -

I am trying to edit the parameters of a saved patch but can't for the life of me see how to do it. One example - I have a use for the 'reggae' patch but the output is way too high - help, please!?

As a buyer I always leave feedback but don't feel too concerned if I didn't get feedback in return as all I have done is paid for the goods. As a seller I think it is more important to accrue good feedback so people can make more informed judgements when you stick something up for sale and have greater confidence in any dealings. If I am interested in buying something it is the first place I look.
Is anyone bringing a guitar amp? Also...if I'm mucking about with my guitar at any point I'd love to try a decent wah pedal...
I have a little Fender G Deck 30 I have brought along in the past for the jam room, if that is any use? -
I have tried to sell this a few times and each time I have taken it out of the case to take pictures I put it away again. but this time it is going. No, I really mean it. Fender Power Jazz Bass Special in pearl white, maple neck with rosewood board and black headstock. Black hardware. Made in Fuji-gen 1984-1987, just about the time when they were (arguably) making the best basses in the world. At the time I believe this was something of a departure for fender - it was a Precision body with Jazz neck (reinforced with carbon fibre - you can see that on the headstock) PJ pickups and active preamp that does all sorts of nice things. Here is a link to the fender owners manual http://support.fende...ass_Japan_(1987)_manual.pdf and here a good diagram that explains what it all does from Talkbass http://www.talkbass....64/#post7894267 It is in incredibly good condition. I won't say mint because it isn't mint, but it is near museum piece quality. I have taken a pic of the biggest dink to the paintwork, the rest is ok - a little buckle rash but nothing major. The white paint finish has aged to a lovely pale cream. The maple has hat golden patina that only age can do. I don't think this was standard issue but at some point the pups have been changed to Seymour Duncan Basslines. To put it bluntly, it is a rock monster. Absolutely fantastic, a joy to play - push it and the grit gets gritty. Isolate the P pup and it sounds precision-y, but harder. Blend the pups and it is made to rock and roll. I put some DR Highbeams on it and they are just at that nice point when they are worn it but still loads of oomph. [s]At the moment it is sporting a (black) Hipshot detuner and a Gotoh 201 bridge - this is black chrome rather than solid black. I can sell it with these on or return to stock.[/s] The reason I am selling it is that, at nearly 10lbs, it is too heavy for me to wear for any length of time. And I have too many basses - one or more have to go so it is going to be this one. Price. returned to stock (well, as I got it) with the normal tuner and BBOT bridge back on it, £400. [s]With Hipshot detuner £430. With Gotoh Bridge £450.[/s] It comes with a perfectly serviceable ABS case with a few dings. Fully insured overnight courier would be £25, pick up from Benfleet in Essex or I can meet half way or deliver within reason for fuel cost. I'll be bringing it with me to the SE Bass Bash, which would make an ideal opportunity to pay for and collect it.... Edit - just a thought - I would trade this for a TC Electronics RH450 and footswitch. I am sure there must be a joke in there somewhere about bass, metal, gold, alchemy, but the correct combination of words is eluding me. Can someone put me out of my misery?

Kit: TC Electronics Classic 450 and Genz Benz Streamliner 600 according to whim. Barefaced Compact and/or Midget. Demographic: I am 55 with a dodgy lumbar.

Best compact and lightweight cabinet for live use??
Paul S replied to flameboy87's topic in Amps and Cabs
Another Barefaced endorsement here. If remotely possible I would try to have a listen to various types before buying as they have different character. One of the local bass bashes would be a good place - are you anywhere near Surrey on 21st? -
+1 It is (one of) the reason(s) I use my TC Electronics Classic 450 over my Genz Benz Streamliner 600. The other being the Tubetone, which I find much easier to control on the fly than the double gain thing on the GB.

Best way to tell the wife..... ' I've just bought a new bass !'
Paul S replied to Tullfan's topic in General Discussion
I can't imagine Mrs.S ever getting cross. She's far too nice! Say "Hi" from me :-)
Will do Warren. And she doesn't.
And me. And ask her what she's up to on Wednesday afternoon.
How did you know I was going out on Wednesday?! -
Best way to tell the wife..... ' I've just bought a new bass !'
Paul S replied to Tullfan's topic in General Discussion
If I want a new bass I will say 'I'm thinking of buying a new bass' and she will say 'Well, go and buy it then'. Simple as that. Maybe I am in a happy place financially but, more to the point, I'm in a happy place in my relationship. I have to wonder about all these little deceptions going on, doesn't seem healthy. -
Should we be in bands for money, or for enjoyment?
Paul S replied to thebrig's topic in General Discussion
I have a day job, don't need the money. I also have other things going on in my life and need space for those. For me, playing music is a hobby and I do it for the love of it. So the whole business of forming a band, rehearsals, getting the music right then tight - all part of the fun. Gigging is great, getting a little bit of cash back is also great, but not the be-all and end-all as far as I am concerned. And that is exactly why my last band imploded, which was a terrible shame as I was playing music I love - heavy rock covers - with an absolutely great guitar player. The dominant member decided he'd had his fill of rehearsing, wanted to gig and earn money, couldn't understand me (and the guitarist, who was of a like mind) wanting 3 holidays a year when there were gigs to be had. I guess at the end of the day it doesn't matter what end of the scale you operate in, as long as the other members are of a like mind. If not it will only lead to friction and then the band splitting. -
Depends on what you`re looking for really.
Exactly this, they are chalk and cheese - all have their own voice. There is a lot of love for SD SPB3 but I really am not keen on them. For the sound I wanted from my bass, the best I have tried was a Wizard Trad. The nicest tone of all my P basses comes from the stock pups that are in my Squier Silver Series! But these could be perceived to be too dull and thumpy. It all depends what you want.

Precision Basses with slim necks and narrow nut widths
Paul S replied to nottswarwick's topic in Bass Guitars
I just picked up a Nate Mendel and its 41mm, although its not jazz width it feels lovely and very easy to play, I do often wonder if we are overly infatuated with nut width when general circumference is as important.
I think it is a very individual thing, so hard to generalise and offer advice to people. I have found, for me, that I prefer 38mm width necks. Best of all 38mm and shallow. But 38mm and thicker are better than 40mm and shallow, which in turn are better than 40mm and thick. Anything bigger and I am really struggling to find it comfortable. I don't even have small hands, it is just the way it is. I recently bought a Squier Silver Series Jazz bass on which the neck is 40mm. The bass is so nice - lightweight with a fantastic tone - but I find the neck slightly too big, so I'm changing it to a 38mm wide Mighty Mite. You wouldn't have thought 2mm can make such a difference but, for me, it does. -
Bought a Mighty Mite neck from Gerry in a totally smooth transaction. Great price, good comms throughout. It arrived promptly and beautifully packaged. Thanks Gerry!
Ha ha love the Gibson transfer!!
Yes! What an absolutely great idea. Better than Fecker Jizz and all the other really amusing headstocks decals you see.
