1.
I may in future try the P with a jazz neck combo.
That's the exact configuration that does it for me. I have a MIJ P bass with a Mighty Mite Jazz neck as my main 'go to' - feels just perfect. Wizard Trads and a P retro - nice!
2. A great day out - thanks to all involved.
3. I don't have small hands by any means but find skinny and shallow necks much more comfortable to play. Even to the extent of just a couple of mm - recently bought a lovely Silver Series Jazz bass - beautiful old battered thing that sounds great - but for some reason the neck was 40mm at the nut. I am going to change it to a Mighty Mite Jazz neck as I just feel that much more comfortable with it. Just the way it is - big guys play Jazz basses, ladies with tiny hands play 5/6 string basses - no logic.
4. In my second transaction with Stevie in as many weeks I bought a nice MM pickup in a smooth and speedy deal. It arrived quickly and beautifully packaged. No doubt I will deal with him again!
5. My pleasure. Not sure if there is an emoticon for 'smug'... [/smug]
6. A quick 'come and see it at the SE Bass Bash on Saturday' type bump. Decided to keep the Gotoh bridge on it, so price includes that plus the original BBOT. Incidentally, it is fitted with Schaller-type strap buttons. Can't find the originals anywhere!
7. Another big Westone fan. Hard to beat for the money. I have a pimped Westone Thunder jet I am rather fond of that I picked up for £77 that is great - much lighter in weight than the IAs, an extra couple of frets and cool stealth look with all black hardware. Also a Pantera deluxe II X790. That wasn't cheap, mind you.
8.
Any chance that someone coming has some Seymour Duncan P pickups they wanna flog?
I have a set of scruffy SPB-3s you can have for £30?
9. Got to agree - I have the B2A with the drop D (B2ADB?) and it is great. Huge sound that is really P-Bass woody in places. I always take it as back up. The issues I have with it are those mentioned - lack of headstock, strap button tilting the bass away from you and, probably the thing that caused me most problem, the position it hangs from the strap. With no body kind of throws the head quite a long way off. All that plus a 2 octave fretboard and it does play mind games until you get used to it.
10.
Sandberg Basic?
I meant more as a cheapie, just-for-the-hell-of-it, DIY project
11. I quite like it. Light in weight, thin neck. I had a noodle on one briefly in PMT Southend and thought a few of the settings were quite interesting. But rather than make me want to buy one it has made me want to try a MM pickup in a non-MM bass to see what it will do. Just need to decide which bass to try one in. Westone Thunder Jet, maybe?
12. If you excuse my logic, this is a bit like saying 'I would have bought that car but the guy took the go faster stripes off it'! I realise you are joking but, as a general observation, this is a steal at £400 so I am not budging on price
13. You can always buy another to put on it? Just a thought...
14. A back from break bump.
15. Thanks for that - was unaware.
16. Nothing remotely like the question you posed, but have you considered one of the small headstock tuners? The Plant Waves Microtuner is a great little bit of kit http://www.soundsliveshop.com/p/Planet_Waves_CT-12_NS_Micro_Tuner/PW-PW-CT-12?CAWELAID=1830891618&catargetid=1823339655&cadevice=c&cagpspn=pla&gclid=CJaa277xw7kCFfHKtAod4mwAkw
17. I bought one cheap on ebay that has a bit of an issue with the body that is making it pretty largely unsellable. Well, I bought it but the problem is potentially worse than I thought. In as much as the body could split into bits. Anyway, I've been chatting with the Bass Doc this week about turning it into a 'Mustangmaster' ©®™using a P-pup I have kicking about plus a Ki0gon wiring loom. I quite like the sound as is but it is a bit thin so it will be interesting to see how the pup change affects the sound.
18. Can I ask, please, where you got the hard case?
19.
There are times when I believe I am punishing myself with my recent one-in, one-out policy - and this is one of them, love it
You could always make it more of a guideline than a policy?... Looks like the de-tuner is sold (thanks Mike). When I take that off I'll change the bridge, too, so it will be back to the BBOT. Also - I won't be at my pc from early tomorrow until Tuesday in case anyone wants to get in touch. Ta!
20. Yes, I would, although probably for a little bit more than £30 - say £40 posted? I bought it new to put on there and it is still in very good nick.
21. Stevie answered my plea for a Hipshot A style bridge - good price, good comms, promptly dispatch, well packed. Can't ask for more! Cheers Stevie
22. Catching her on 20th at The Cliff's Pavilion, Westcliff and looking forward to it!
23. I am trying to edit the parameters of a saved patch but can't for the life of me see how to do it. One example - I have a use for the 'reggae' patch but the output is way too high - help, please!?
