1. Looks like this is sold pending the usual
2. In very good nick, still with original box etc. I bought this from a fellow basschatter in March 09, used it a little bit but now learn stuff differently and so have no use for it. Here is a link to the Tascam website for spec etc but, as they say on all the best ads, if you are reading this you know what they are. New they are currently around £140, looking for £75 posted.
3. Pics. Very slight buckle rash, a little marking on the headstock and a slight scuff on the f hole (ooh matron etc...) 4. In a rush of blood I bought this from a fellow band member when he bought a Gibson Les Paul Studio and decided to move it on. It has sat here doing nowt ever since. Daft really, as I rarely pick up a guitar and, when I do, use one of my JapCrap models so I thought I'd sell it on. And, well, you know, maybe buy another bass.... Here is a link to the Ibanez webpage about them and here is an image nicked from the site: Anyway, this is pretty well spotless. It looks and plays like a dream - nice low action and a fast neck. Sound-wise it does a lot of things but mainly it is like a Gibson 335 - it overdrives nicely and sounds really meaty when pushed. Nice sexy cool looking guitar for someone who wants something a little different from the herd. I think production of this model has stopped but Reidy's have them still for £269. This one comes with a fitted Gator hardcase that is a bit like the Gibson Les Paul ones. Can't find the exact model but it must have cost over £50. Actual pics to follow. Looking for [s]£180[/s] NOW [s]£150[/s]a ridiculous £140 collected from SE Essex, another £20 to post it ParcelForce 48.
5. I have put an end to my own misery and bought the cab at PMT for £225. Should shut me up for a few minutes. Thanks everyone.
6. I'm still at the stage where I have yet to establish firmly what I want from my basses, so I keep chopping and changing and they all get a look in. So far the Jaguar does it all for my 'regular' covers band. The heavier rock covers band I am still trying stuff out but think my Westone Thunder 1A tops the pops. Only gigged the T-bird once but that was nice.
7. A fairly specific reason, really, in that the first time I tried any Trace Elliot gear it was an AH-300 head through an 18" cab and the tone was just exactly what I wanted. I bought an AH 300 head, play it through TE 15" and 2x10" cabs but it isn't the same as the 18". I wondered if it was the fact that it was an 18" cab or specifically a TE 18" cab that would have made the difference but have decided to wait for one to come along and buy it, rather than spend the rest of my life experimenting. As it happens PMT in Southend have a 20+yr old one. Really tatty, they are asking £250, which strikes me a little expensive. Anyone else think this is too much or is it the going rate?
8. Thanks. I have decided to wait for a proper 18" Trace cab now. Given I like their stuff so much, and how much everything else has cost, it does seem silly to mess it up for the sake of a few quid. Just a momentary rush of blood
9. OKay, thanks. As usual when something seems too good to be true it is.
10. Just a thought - specifically Peavey PV118 subwoofer speakers. At first glance they appear to offer a lot of things I am looking for - they have 18" cabs and don't weigh as much a a small planet. Presumably when used for a FOH PA system then bass goes through them then. There must be drawbacks though?
11. I'd like to come along - I think I am free, too. Is it worth bringing my Trace Elliot stuff along or maybe just a couple of basses?
12.
But in your case i would try a crossover on both cabs to try tailoring their sound to your flavour first. If it works you would get the sound you are looking for with less expenses and less weight.
Interesting. What does that involve, and is it something a technophobe like me could manage?
13. Why more? Well, I don't really want it any louder - I don't think I have used the volume above half even with a low gain setting - it is more about the quality of the sound. Ever since I played through an 18" TE cab once at a rehearsal studio I've been striving for the same sound and, although the 1x15 and 2x10 are great, I want to get that richness that I got that time with the 18" cab - reaching my personal bass tone nirvana. I was just really canvassing opinion about my options. I was just initially puzzled by the watts/ohms thing - part of the jigsaw I am trying to piece together in my brains about all this. Anyway, as ever I appreciate all the input - many thanks.
14. Thanks Alien. So, finally (though I bet it isn't the last time I ask) - given my existing set up is 1x15 plus 2x10, what should be the perceived difference in using either an 1818X or an 1818 plus my 2x10? Or, indeed, an 1818X and a 1x15? Or replace the 2x10 with a 4x10 and use that in combination? I mean a 4x10 plus 1818 has significantly more speaker surface area for the same 300W 4ohm as my 1x15 and 2x10, so I guess it is going to be louder, but are there any advantages? This is all assuming my back lasts out, of course. I am leaning towards 1818 and 2x10, as they more portable (relative term, of course) Thanks for your patience!
15. Thanks. That makes a bit more sense now. That spreadsheet is pretty clear! So - how does the 1818x work, presumably the 18" and 10" are connected in series, and would it offer any advantages compared to a straight 1818 cab? It is heavier, for sure!
16. Right, I see. Thanks. What would happen, theoretically, if I connected my two cabs (1x15 and 2x10) from the two outputs on the amp then daisy chained another cab? How would this affect the watts/ohms etc? Especially if only on one side like that.
17. I am being particularly dense here, I know, but still have trouble getting my head around this. Taking my gear as the example. I have a Trace Elliot AH-300-12. So that is 300W at 4ohms? I have two cabs - 1153T and 2103H - both say on the back 200W 8ohm. If I use one cab, so 8 ohm, the max output of the amp would be 200W or so? 300W from both cabs? I think I get all of that. But the cabs are 200W - how can they handle this? I am confused. I am watching an 1818X cab on eBay at the moment - apparently this is 200W 8ohms, too, so could I use this with either of the cabs I already have, even though it contains both 18" and 10" speakers? Ta
18. Warfemstoe! Excellent. I'll see if I can get a crowd along.
19. Cheers, you are a star!
20. I've had a quick look at Stringbuster and Stringsdirect and didn't see any listed. Just a thought. For a Hohner B2A. Ta.
21. Do you ever make it darn sarf?
22. So what is this? Turn to Stone, Joe Walsh (or Barnstorm or whatever) Growl, snarl or just simple distortion? Whatever it is, I like it
23. T'was my pleasure in recently doing business with Dave (goblin), having bought his Hohner B2A. He is a gent to deal with, no BS and a good communicator - plus the bass was better than I expected - and you cannot ever ask more than that. And packed to withstand a direct hit from a cruise missile, too. Cheers Dave.
24. A Thunder III is good nick would fetch £350 +/- which, when you consider the quality of the instrument, is well cheap. Thunder IIs around £250-300. Thunder IA, with far less complicated controls but no through neck maybe £150, bit less sometimes. Thunder Jet, the simplest of all, for around £100. They are all great value secondhand and I love them, as you can tell from my signature. I use my Thunder 1A more than my other basses - just love how it sounds and feels.
25. Yup. I am very discerning when it comes to my instruments. They have to be black. Most other things are negotiable...
