  1. In fact, whether your name is Simon or Patrick, a bit of judiciously placed tape will do the same job and everyone will think you have a top luthier artisanal guitar.
  2. Guitarist in my band has just discovered Lonnie Mack and we are learning a couple of his songs. Stop. And Wham, but SRV's cover. Not that it is much different apart from being a bit of a workout on the bass
  3. Just to lower the tone, here is my old West9one Thunderjet
  4. it's a punk band, so what are you going to learn toorrow? Good score.
  5. Andertons are wrong. Your contract is with them, not Fender, and they should sort you out. This is a legal requirement, not a gesture. If Fender send a new neck, all the better for Andertons, but it is Andertons who should refund or replace your purchase. Probably too late now as you have kind of accepted the situation but worth knowing for the future. http://tradingstandardsblog.co.uk/who-is-liable-for-faulty-goods-the-retailer-or-manufacturer
  6. Of course, if your name is Simon Patrick, just stick a weeny bit of tape over the & and you have a custom headstock that will impress friends and family. New years eve bargain - C G7 Should old acquaintance be forgot C F And never brought to mind C Am G7 Should old acquaintance be forgot F C F And days of auld lang syne
  7. That looks fabulous. I love these BBs but they are too heavy for me across the board I've stopped asking the weight now
  8. This band, no. We live a fair distance from each other - a sort of triangle that is 55miles, 35 miles, 35 miles - and all have different lives outside of the band. Its a funny old mix, really - we are such different people, different ages - I'm 65, guitarist is 50, drummer is 40. But the music is amazing, such a great buzz about it when we play.
  9. Bought some strings. Arrived promptly, beautifully packed. Great price, too. Good comms etc etc, great transaction all round
  10. Yes, they did.
  11. If the tuners bother you I can heartily recommend Gotoh Resolite reverse gearing. A straight drop-in and go some way to reduce the weight as they really are very light. Speaking of weight, my tobaccoburst was 9lbs on the nose, my black one is 8lbs, so maybe they kept the better grain, but heavier, timber for the seethrough finishes?
  12. I wouldn't dream of saying I was an expert but I have owned 2, still have one, the one I sold was the twin of this except with the Fender logo. The neck sounds absolutely spot on - both mine were shallow C profile approx 19mm deep at the third fret, 42mm across the nut. I can't comment on anything else - both mine had the raised A pole pieces. Are the tuners from an old JV or new?
  13. I had this made. Same spec nowdays would cost over £2K. I dearly wish I had a use for it - if I did it would be coming home to daddy! This is an unbelievable bargain, folks.
  14. Pointless reminiscence: That was the first year that the current Mrs S and I were together, we'd just moved in to a small flat and Life was a huge adventure. The night before we'd had a dodgy takeaway and we'd both been extremely ill all night - not eaten vegetable pakoras (the dish we shared) ever since. Felt like crap all the next day so just collapsed in front of the tiny portable TV we had and watched the lot.
  15. Beat me to it!
  16. From memory all the Westone basses I owned were 40mm at the nut. Also Squier Silver Series Precision and Jazz both were 40mm. Of those I have currently, a 70s Antoria Precision has 40mm nut, ditto Hondo II H1015, ditto Allparts telebass neck on my 50s P bitsa - the latter is also 'very' chunky.
  17. Must have been some sort of voodoo. Some nice bits for my '51 P bitsa from Retrovibe.
  18. Unbelievably I had a first class signed for delivered today that was posted yetserday.
  19. Maybe I should mention that you don't have to be called Simon or Patrick to own one of these. Just in case, you know, it was putting you off.
  20. Unfortunately they are cut for 4+1, so the G wouldn't fit.

  22. Funny, I have tried chromes, still have some knocking about, but find them to be duller than TI Flats.
  23. Too much HP Lovecraft, I'd say.
