  1. Have you left the manacles fixed to the walls?
  2. Maybe he just made a boob.
  3. Bought some more strings from Daniel. My 4th set from him. I've suggested he gets them sent to me directly in future to save all the bother of advertising etc. Perfect transaction, just like the others. Thanks Dan.
  4. I know! Such a shame. I loved everything else about it. If I felt I had a use for one I'd be on the prowl for a lightweight real one, having dipped my toe and found them to my liking, but it is an expense I can't justify at the moment.
  5. No distress, Warren - just mystified why you felt the need to score points off me in public when you could have just ignored it. Hey Ho. I don't 'throw my toys out of the pram' about songs I don't like. As I said in my post... I often have and no doubt will continue to play sings I don't like. Ask the chaps about 'Mr Brightside' and a smiley mask. I have also, in past bands, played 'Walking on Sunshine' and, God help me, 'Sit Down' - both of which I dislike. And a whole raft of others. But not hate. I simply refuse to play songs I hate - a gain in level. As I recall I only ever point blank refused to play something once, long ago in band far away. If you don't find songs you hate, that's all the better for you. There are some I do hate. As a general principle of Life being forced to do something I hate doing is a subject I do feel strongly about - again, as I said. And if you find that laughable, I guess we just have different values and tolerances.
  6. I had early-mid 70s MIJ copy. It was not possible to narrow it down to a maker, which apparently was a sign of a good one To my ears it sounded 'exactly' like a Ric. It looked just like one, too. Trouble was it weighed approaching 11lbs and, with my back issues, I just couldn't get away from that. In the end I let it go, but I was sad to do so as it was a damned fine bass. @silverfoxnik has it now.
  7. hah! Another one of my posts has elicited a laugh! I had no idea I was so funny. Maybe I should have pursued a career in stand up. 🥴
  8. @hiram.k.hackenbacker not sure how 'laughing is an appropriate response tbh. Please explain what is so funny?
  9. In a covers band I'll play songs I am ambivalent about, will play songs I don't like but refuse to play songs I hate - that crosses a line as far as I am concerned. Don't care if the rest of the band, the punters, the Queen or the Pope love it - if I hate it I won't play it. I play for fun, because I enjoy it, and for me it isn't fun to play a song I loathe with a passion. There are quite literally thousands of songs to choose from and it seems completely unreasonable for a band to try to pressurise a member into doing something they hate when there is so much choice. It is something I feel pretty strongly about, actually.
  10. Indeed, just trying to pad it out now.
  11. Sorry, these are not grounds for a decent pun.
  12. All good advice. Especially the pre-set/eq in out buttons - notoriously the soldering fails and can be noisy to operate and even distort.
  13. I thought it may have finished by now but clearly the puns have long legs.
  14. @Old Horse Murphy is looking for one of these.
  15. Can't see when the listing is over?
  16. Its the 'learn' bit I seem to struggle with sometimes
  17. I think that would be a probpem for me as I did have a nice Gibson T Bird - a lightweight one as well - so one of these would be very much a backward step. Of course I sold it, the reason why escapes me just for now.
  18. Thank you! Rig was supplied, think it was an Ashdown ABM but not sure which, I went straight into it for stage monitor and then DI'd through the desk. The bass has a little story - it is a mid-70s Antoria P bass that I bought on eBay for (I think) £250. It transpires that at some point someone fitted a '75 Fender pickup in it. Punchy tone! A rare occasion when I ended up 'ahead of the game'
  19. Another one from my blues rock trio Tore Down at Ipswich Summertime gig back in August. The old Howlin' Wolf tune 'Evil' in the style of Cactus. https://www.facebook.com/djangostrat/videos/440078267352801
  20. It means 'something like a Gibson'. I had a Thunderbird for a while (just the one, mind), still have a Les Paul Jr DC, and both sound 'something like a Gibson' to me. Whilst not sounding exactly the same as each other they sounded more like each other than anything else I have.
  21. Memories of Maggie.
  22. David, thank you. Yes, that would be exactly the look I am after. Oh dear.
  23. That tele bass!! Black/maple, short scale, under 8lbs. Be still my beating heart 😍 Is there routing under the plate or would it come off to give a clean body?
  24. That'll be that then. Muchas gracias, saved me wondering any further 😊
