  1. Thank you. And thank heavens it is far too heavy. I am trying to cut down, not increase, but that would have been way beyond tempting had it been 8lbs. This has to be an absolute bargain, especially with the case.
  2. Are you able to weigh this accurately, please? asking for a friend.
  3. UFO's first 2 albums were forgettable IMO but Phenomenon was phenomenal. And try saying that after a packet of wine gums.
  4. Don't know if it has been mentioned but I imagine non-musos would possibly know Yes by 'Owner Of A Lonely Heart'.
  5. I am in two bands that are kind of at opposite ends of the scale. With my Bon Jovi tribute band I try to play as close to the original as I can - with the caveat that Hugh McDonald is a better bass player than I'll ever be so I just do my best. In this context I think it is quite important to keep it accurate. My other band is a blues/rock trio playing stuff as recorded by Cream, Hendrix, SRV, Jeff Healey, 3 Kings etc. Generally speaking we do what blues/rock trios have always done - retain the essence of the song whilst finding some room to make our own interpretation. Which I find very enjoyable.
  6. Switching to a FRFR set up has been, for me, much simpler and actually quite liberating I am not particularly technically minded and found a lot of the minutiae about amps/cabs etc very confusing. My 3 piece blues band needed to upgrade the pa from the archaic vintage gear we managed to cobble together. After following the stuff on here I persuaded the guys to go with 2 x RCF EVOX 8 V2 and I go straight into the desk from my pedal board. It sounds amazing, especially when the drums go through it although we don't do that every time. Not so much volume but balance and depth. The great thing about this set up, I I confess I don't fully understand, is you can position it behind you so it removes the need for monitors and makes the whole set up and playing area very simple. Guitarist generally uses his amp, mind you, as he prefers the valve tone from it. For other band situations/home practice I bought the RCF 732A. So 'my' sound is totally portable.
  7. I had a black Scavenger bass, if memory serves it was an '80. Loved it to bits until I hurt my back and then the nearly 11lb weight become an issue. It was 9/10 condition as we ll.
  8. Me, too. Nice to know I play something right occasionally. heck, even a broken clock is right twice a day!
  9. This is definitely doing my head in. Last night I was all set up for the Jamkazam and according to the meters my output was within the acceptable limits, green lights across the board. Except no-one could hear me and I couldn't hear anyone. I've spent most of today uninstalling the Behringer ASIO driver, reinstalling it, changing ports, changing settings. Each step involves re-booting. After several attempts it seems I can only have the driver set up for mp3 playback and recording by leaving Jamkazam out of the equation. And if I try to fiddle with the settings for Jamkazam nothing at all works. So to preserve my sanity I have made an executive decision to abandon trying to get Jamkazam set up. Should be able to rehearse 'properly' soon enough, well in time for the one ad only gig that is booked.
  10. I have a Jamkazam rehearsal later so will leave it well alone until after then.... no point tempting fate
  11. Been listening to a lot of Los Lobos recently. Talk about a talented band - they aren't all about La Bamba! It seems they can turn their hand to most styles just perfectly. Here some gorgeous jazzy blues.
  12. The thing is - it did work and now doesn't. And it does work in some circumstances such as playing my bass through it or in Jamkazam. But playing back music has now stopped. No previous one, only the sound card that was installed in the pc. And when I change to the Behringer it just freezes when trying to listen to music. Thanks for this. I've found a few references on Google for 'Create Aggregate Device' so will investigate.
  13. Thank you, Tony, that is a kind offer and one to consider when the time comes I think for the moment I'll continue to enjoy the old pup in there.
  14. I'll start by saying I have no idea what I am doing. Right, got that out of the way. I have recently started using a Behringer UM02 as my audio interface. Got it plugged into the back of my pc via USB and I downloaded the right Behringer ASIO driver. Seems to work just fine with Jamkazam after some tweaking. Got it connected to a powered speaker unit and use this for home practice, either with the speaker or headphones. I also have the original powered speakers that I was using with the pc. At one point I did some recording in Audacity and that worked. Also, at one time, I was able to play back music files/YouTubes on my pc via the Behringer - could switch between this and the other powered speakers. Useful as I could listen to mp3 files and play along on headphones via the front of the Behringer. But the last few times I have tried to play music/YouTube or record all I get is white noise. The music or video kind of stutters along while it crackles. I go into my settings and change the default back to the pc speakers, no problem. Go in again, change the default to the Behringer, there is the problem again. Does this sound familiar? Is there an easy fix? Can it be explained in words of one syllable or less? Muchas gracias!
  15. Just downloaded it - didn't know such a thing existed! Thanks chaps 😊
  16. No better recommendation, thank you ToneRider it will be.
  17. I've not tried Toneriders but they absolutely read as though they might be a good choice. Not expensive, either. How would they compare with, say, Entwistle PBXN which are my current favourites?
  18. What I think I will do is enjoy the bass with these pickups fitted until such time as I decide to move it on and then swap it out for something else and sell the Fender pup. Possibly. 😄
