I'd say it is worth hanging on. It's been a while since I checked in but, back then, one of the guys on there was one of the founders of the whole Shergold/Hayman/Burns thing. Norman Houlder. He might be dead by now, of course.

That is lovely! I had one - my first proper bass! Sold it because it was heavy. There is a Shergold website that includes a forum. Hayman are basically the same and often get talked about on there. https://www.shergold.co.uk/forum/ I even bought a nos perspex bridge from someone on there. If they don't have one, they will know if it is possible.

I had a Pantera X790 Deluxe for a while. I think this was Westone's top end of the range then. Beautifully made instrument. I read about it somewhere, fell in love, waited a few years before one came up for sale in the Netherlands - I collected it from there! @Andyjr1515 did a headstock renovation on it as the paint had chipped off from around one of the tuners. But having GASed for so long I didn't bond with it when I actually got it plus it was too heavy. Boy did I take a hit when I moved it on! Say lar vee.

I've not played much. Maybe once a week for an hour, if that. The enjoyment I get from music is not so much sitting and listening or even playing on my own, it is watching and/or participating. To either watch or participate in making music from nothing. Neither of which has been possible during the lockdowns. As it happens the last couple of weeks has seen me pick up my guitar, rather than bass, as I feel driven to record something. Specifically 'La Bamba' - the back story being that in my former covers band I suggested that we play 'la Bamba' towards the end of the 2nd set as a good dance/singalong tune - we played precious few. And I was offering to sing it. I can speak un poco de español so can pronounce it properly and I reckoned I could manage the bassline at the same time with practice. Come the rehearsal day, guitarist and erstwhile band leader hands over his mic. I got as far as the first line 'Para bailar la bamba'... and he stops playing and says 'If that is how you are going to sing it then forget it'. So, just to prove a point, really. Still rusty as hell but slowly improving. I'm going to try to do the vocal, BVs, guitars and bass. A mate will do drums, maybe some BVs and, if possible, doing some sort of midi accordian-a-like at the end. Wish me luck!

I like the Hipshot Supertone bridge as a replacement for the Gibson 3 point bridge plus cheaper generic ones you find on Epiphones et al. I think it is nicely engineered, is an easy fit and not punishingly expensive. When you buy one it arrives with a choice of mounting screws as the Epiphone and Gibson fixings are different. I've had 3 over the years. So, I thought I'd treat my '71 Antoria EB-3 copy to a Hipshot Supertone upgrade. This time the 2 point - first time I have bought one of these. Now on the Hipshot website the description page for Supertone bridges covers both the 2 point and 3 point models - if you want to buy from the site you choose via a drop down menu but the description for both remains the same. And in that description is clearly says both metric and imperial screws are supplied. So I bought one from Bass Direct. When it arrived there were only two mounting screws which Sod's Law dictated were the wrong ones. So I have been jumping on bass Direct about sending me the extra screws. They don't have any in stock and are awaiting delivery from Hipshot. To pass time a couple of days ago, I had a look at the downloadable pdfs on the Hipshot website giving the dimensions for each model to see what sizes the screws are. And on those it says quite clearly that the 3 point bridge comes with 4 screws - 2 metric, 2 imperial. The 2 point bridge pdf says it comes with just 2 imperial size screws. I guess this is because it is only intended to fit on a Gibson and so no need for the metric Epiphone-fit ones. I'd say it would have been handy if they had put this information on the description page So I emailed Hipshot to see if they could clarify. Got a reply that admitted the description was confusing and, yes, the pdf version is right - they only supply 2 imperial bolts. But they are going to send me 2 metric ones, which is nice of them. So, if anyone is in a position of upgrading thier 2 point bridge on a MIJ Gibson-a-like do bear this in mind.

Speaking of Def Leppard, last night I stumbled upon a fairly recent live performance of theirs. Embedded below. Now I put on the table immediately that I believe Joe Elliot to be a twonk of the first order. I've always struggled to bond with the image he portrays and recently he seems to have morphed into a bag lady. But this video I thought was amazing, almost breathtaking in it's power. How much is really live, I wonder? And the guitarist with no shirt. I looked him up - he is the same age as me - 63. If I had a torso like that I'd never wear a shirt either.
