  1. Well, it is after xmas now and usually there is just the leg left.
  2. God Lord I had forgotten this. My sister bought the album and played it to death. And, earlier Mas Que Nada.
  3. I was briefly in a band with a guitarist who had been in a local band called 'The Business' that were reasonably high profile at the time. They had twin guitars. He said one day he was shopping when someone came up to him and said 'Are you in the band The Business?' he started to preen himself and confirmed he was. 'Your guitarist is great, isn't he!'
  4. I am finding this absolutely fascinating! So many different styles. So many I have never heard before. Or want to hear again! 😂 Here is another that hasn't popped up featuring, again, our very own @neilmurraybass
  5. How do you actually fit in here without knocking everything over, Russ? You aren't a small chap.
  6. I know a lot of these have been flagged up at various times but I thought it might be neat to curate them in one place. I am by no means a fan of the Beatles but I often enjoy covers of their tunes. I could pick several but the freshest one for me, as I only heard it the other day, is this cover of 'Come Together' by Gary Clark Jr. Apparently it was used in some film or other and been around a while but, as usual, I am late to the party. There are a few live versions kicking around but I like this one, it has a raw power and intensity about it. The biggest problem is sitting through 1:45 secs of some bellend who hosts the show and trying to score points off them. WTAF is that about? Anyway, fast forward to avoid. Please list your faves, with links of course. And only one at a time, please!
  7. 7 days in and I'm still clean. In fact I have one bass on the way out. But that would change if I found an 8lb Yamaha BB415 or 425 or 435.
  8. You are just a fire starter, mate. Nothing but trouble. 😉
  9. I've had a Bronco and still own the HB Shorty. The Bronco isn't twice as good, it is half as good. Shorty weighs 3.2kg. I have never owned a bass that is such miraculous value for money.
  10. For the interface, if you want to do it really cheaply, this has just popped up for sale. I have no iron in this fire other than to say I bought one and it works. No frills but it does the job.
  11. There is actually a brand of tea grown in Cornwall. Seriously. https://tregothnan.co.uk/ A mate of mine, who used to import a sh!tload of ornamental plants from Darjeeling brokered the deal with a tea nursery out there. The constant mizzle of SW Cornwall is similar to the cloud forest environment tea thrives in.
  12. I had a lot of fun with a Westone Thunder 1A fretless. The unlined neck was gorgeous. Not light, mind.
  13. New neck sounds like a plan. If and when you ever feel the need to part with it the old neck can go back on but meanwhile you will be able to continue to use a bass you enjoy. Win all round.
  14. bet it was through a Barefaced Compact, too.
  15. Can't remember if I posted this or not but it came up in my mp3 shuffle this morning. Europa, Carlos Santana. Great P bass tone. And, incidentally, I can get almost this exact tone out of my Harley Benton PB Shorty, strung with TI flats, when I run it through the TC Spectradrive 'Clean Boost' patch and a little mid boost. Almost exactly. Makes me smile
  16. Have to agree. Best thing I did was change to this set up. I have a Spectradrive which sorts out the DI, EQ, Drive and compression in one pedal, plus a tuner. Straightforward rig!
  17. Thank you. Mercifully it is too heavy for me Saved me some awkward decisions.
  18. Are you able to weigh this accurately, please?
  19. Never seen the appeal, myself. 🤨 If you can fit it in like that, can't you fit it in as per the video, horn first (ooh matron etc)?
  20. That is so very apt 😂 I don't feel he has been the same since he had his nose and teeth 'fixed' and used to sing in lower registers. Instead of that strange Mr Punch thing he has going on now.
  21. I mainly use a pick. A Jim Dunlop like your one but the black 1mm version. I used to exclusively play with a pick but over the past 4 or 5 years have gradually started to play more with fingers on those songs where it is more appropriate. But if I need speed and/or accuracy I absolutely need to use a pick. It is what feels most natural to me. I very occasionally use my thumb to pluck, too.
