  1. I think if you read the 3rd and 4th posts, they mention fingernails.
  2. Harley Benton PB Shorty. It is a damned fine bass. For the money it is a miracle. Sounds like a vintage Fender straight out of the box. Seriously. https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_hbp90bk_shortscale_ebass.htm
  3. I paid £280-odd for a brand new 425 a couple of years back. I SOOO wish I could get an 8lb 5 string BB425/1025 or the newer equivalent (still not got my head around the new numbers ). I really like everything about them except the weight.
  4. I've cheekily re-named it '2020 Blues' and bashed out some suitably bleak lyrics. I wonder if singer Alan will approve... 2020 Blues It came all the way, from China to your door No matter what you say, it’ll knock you to the floor Nothing left to lose, got those 2020 blues. You might fear the worst, if you’re old or if you’re sick If your bubbles burst, this flu won’t miss a trick Nothing left to lose, got those 2020 blues. With old freedoms lost, will things ever be the same Or will we count the cost, and forever change the game. Nothing left to lose, got those 2020... I've just read the news, got those 2020... Im just so confused, I've got those 2020 blues.
  5. Fabulous. I've never heard it isolated before. Underscores why Glover is my all time favourite bassist. Some of those fills are just so melodic.
  6. I'm sure if you'd asked her nicely it might have been a possibility. She seemed fairly indiscriminate, back in the day.
  7. This popped up on my mp3 player this morning. Pulled from a dodgy tape but I think it is the only copy (not mine)? Unless someone here has one. I love it - kind of ZZ Top meets Michael Jackson And who couldn't love a band called Fester and the Vomits
  8. I don't know the technicalities but in a former band both guitarists did this very thing. Severed the cable twixt amp and cab and placed a DI box of some sort in between. What sort of DI I don't know.
  9. I wanna dance wit choo. Disco Tex and his Sex-O-lets.
  10. Actually singer Alan would probably end up singing something like that anyway. One time we got 'You got me flappin like a fish on a pole' in 'C'mon Let The good Times Roll. The verses appear in any order, too.
  11. Same again, the Noel Coward one. This is why I had the minor rant. The Robin Trower penned tune with the same name is nothing like this
  12. Yup. That's the Noel Coward one again!
  13. I don't know why but I had to read that twice before I stopped smirking.
  14. I stumbled across a Robin Trower song I hadn't heard before and would like to flag it up for my blues band. 20th century Blues. Nice powerful, no frills kind of thing, just up our alley. The lyrics are buried quite deep in the mix and I am struggling to pick them out so just now I thought I'd get a little help from one of the websites that publish lyrics. There are quite a few of them. It seems that Noel Coward wrote a tune called 20th Century Blues and every single one of the lyric websites has copied these lyrics when you search for the Robin Trower one. Every one. WTF? 🤪 Anyone happen to know the actually lyrics? 😄
  15. Back in my early teens one thing I did want was long curly hair - I wanted to have hair just like Carlos Santana. So I grew it. Trouble is I just looked like my mum. 🤪
  16. Hi Ho Silver Lining. Jeff Beck. ARGH, can't believe I wrote that....
  17. I have Delano PC 5 AL/M2 in my Jake 5 and the output is great. I like the pickup a lot, like an angry P bass.
  18. Absolutely. If you listen to a lot of country music you are unlikely to want to buy a Warwick Vampire or similar. If death metal is your bag then an Epiphone Jack Casady isn't likely to be high on your wish list. IMO that's actually another box ticked for a Precision bass as the sound and look can squeeze into most genres.
