  1. I had one for a while and, as it happens, they are exceedingly nice. At the same time I had a Squier VM Mustang and a '79 Fender Musicmaster and the Vista was the pick of the bunch. But not £500 nice.
  2. I had one in the mid noughties. Sold it for £180. And it had a NOS perspex bridge that I managed to track down.
  3. I have decided to move this beauty on. Gibson Thunderbird in tobacco burst, very good condition. Serial number dates it to 26th January 2011 (Happy Birthday!). It is extremely lightweight by Thunderbird standards - my luggage scale hovered between 3.6 and 3.7kg, so 8lbs +/- a whisker. Superslim neck, 37mm at the nut. String spacing at the bridge is 17.5mm according to my failing eyes, shaky hands and a ruler When I got it the original 3 point bridge stood as proud as a jetty at low tide. I replaced it with the Hipshot Supertone and had my usual tech guy make a mahogany shim for it to sit on as fitted flush on the body with the saddles raised high was still not high enough for my agricultural style of playing. I think he made a pretty damned fine job of it, too. Overall it is in really great nick. A small amount of ceiling scrapeage on the tip of the headstock, a dink in the upper side of the lower bout, a teeny dink in the forward upper bout, some buckle rash. Other than that it gleams with great grain showing through. Sounds just exactly how you would expect a Thunderbird to sound. Passive but pretty hot, V/V/T controls. Comes with the original Gibson USA fitted hard case. Someone at some point changed the strap buttons to Dunlop lockable jobs - no originals when I bought it. I will put both halves of these in the case, together with the original bridge. I am pricing this to sell at £850 collected from SS7. I will courier this but fully insured this big heavy case will most likely to come out around £40 - I will confirm. UK mainland only at this stage. No offers or trades, thank you.
  4. These have been changing hands for crazy money recently. This one is starting low, if nothing else. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Squier-by-Fender-Musicmaster-vista-bass/124550563139?hash=item1cffcac543%3Ag%3ADzoAAOSw0PtgFC5B&LH_ItemCondition=3000
  5. I had one of these, different flavour to the Thunder, the pup was slightly more aggressive. They came in 32" scale and 34" scale, from the proportions this looks like a 32"? Looks like it might be a simple restoration, more time than money. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Matsumoku-4-string-Electric-Bass-Guitar-USED-Solid-body-Working/363275760202?hash=item5494ec324a%3Ag%3A7AgAAOSw5wlgFAR3&LH_ItemCondition=3000
  6. Fabulous stuff, Andy.
  7. I put them on all my basses. First thing I do. Costs me a fortune 😊

    feedback for Deedee

Danny bought a pedal from me. The latest in a few dealings - lovely chap. Maybe we should just club together and do a time share on gear?
  9. ... just don't ask for his lessons in love.
  10. What is the snakeskin finish, please - vinyl wrap?
  11. Chris bought my Boss LS-2 in the simplest of deals. Good comms, friendly chap, a pleasure doing business
  12. Pleased to be the first to start off a feedback thread for Adam. He bought my Airturn Pedpro in the most straightforward of deals, good comms, friendly chap. A pleasure doing business!
  13. Sold a compressor to Jim. Easy peasy deal, lovely fella
  14. Sold a pickup to Ben in a post-Brext-post test. Straightforward, easy deal, great comms, really friendly chap. A pleasure doing business!
  15. Weird isn't it. I guess these teething problems will eventually get ironed out but it seems pretty random at the moment.
  16. 'Made in Japan', maybe, but totally fncked in England? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/wedge-bass-guitar-made-in-japan-aria-westone-yamaha-unique-custom-finish-crazy/233871152474?hash=item3673ce955a%3Ag%3A08MAAOSwio1gDZJf&LH_ItemCondition=3000
  17. Music stand. And a waistcoat. I believe you do hats already.
  18. To be fair, carrying my car about hasn't ever been a consideration 🤣 As straw man arguments go, that's pretty good
  19. Conversely, I have often wondered about getting a cheap short scale, such as a Harley Benton PB Shorty, taking a saw to it and converting it with a headless hardware kit.
  20. Depends upon your point of view. I prefer the body shape to a Gibson but find the treatment of the neck joint rather clunky.
  21. Good thread. I've had two Squier JV Precisions, both at the same time, still got one. The first was a really early '82 Fender logo '57 RI in tobacco burst with a maple neck that I bought from @LukeFRC a few years ago. Weighed 9lbs on the nose and had a real vintage P bass tone. The second was an '83 in black with a maple neck. I'm not sure but I don't think this was a '57 RI model - anyone know? It weighed 8lbs on the nose and has a far more aggressive tone to it. The maple has some figuring on it and it is the bass I like the most of all those I have ever bought. This is the one I've kept. I've had three Peavey Fury basses - the Mk I single pickup P-bass-a-like. They all sounded similar, very close to the black JV P bass above in that they are an aggressive Precision tone. More so, in fact - the pickup reminds me of the Entwistle PBXN. But the weight varies hugely. The first one I had weighed 8.5lbs, the second one nearly 10 lbs, the one I have currently (the keeper) weighs under 8lbs. Really nice basses that cost peanuts. Hohner B2 basses. Ostensibly very similar - B2, B2A, B2ABD. Had all of them at various times. The weight again was extremely variable from 7lbs (B2) to nearly 9lbs.
  22. This has been recently listed. Yamaha SB-35. I had one, sold it, worst sellers remorse I've ever had. Never thought I'd see another one turn up but it is 1.5lbs heavier than mine was and I am going to pass it by. Superb, quality instrument that has a tone to die for. Much punchier than a Gibson, for example. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SB-35-Yamaha-Bass-Guitar-Made-in-Japan-1970s-Medium-Scale/164660265554
  23. I like the nude look, too. Looks great! How much do these HB PB-50s weigh?
  24. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Harley-Benton-PB-50-Bass-Pickguard-PB-50-51-scratchplate-many-colours/114233957501?hash=item1a98dfdc7d:g:cCIAAOSwb7te5NkK&var=414747868484 great service from this guy.
