Absolutely. I've owned several Thunders. 3 or 4 1As, a 1, a fretless 1A (now that was nice), a couple of Thunderjets. The 1As were wonderful but way too heavy. Later ones were lighter but they changed the pickups and I wasn't so keen on the tone from them. Thunderjets were the lightest (and arguably coolest) of all. All this talk of Westones is giving me GAS, damned Basschat! I can just imagine a Thunderjet with an Entwistle PBXN 😍 I may have to seek one out....

Nothing bothers me particularly but I am not keen on seeing the ends of strings wobbling about dangerously, rather poked down into the middle of the tuners.

I expect this is fairly common - I don't read and never really got on with tab. I listen to the song several times without going anywhere near my bass, just to pick up the structure. Then I dissect it with the bass and figure out out to play it on the neck - best positions etc. Then I just listen to the song as much as possible, over and over again, imagining how I play each note as the song plays out. I haven't found any shortcuts, just keep listening.

I did this to a neck some while ago, like yours it seemed to have come to the end of the adjustment but still had a forward bow. It worked a treat. I still have the bass, neck is still straight.

Isn't it! I like Albert Lee, seen him a couple of times in Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings and also in his own right. He still plays at that speed even now, albeit not quite as nimbly. But I didn't quite realise how accomplished Chas Hodges was.

Recently I have been mining the rich vein of golden oldies on the Beat Club back catalogue. Stumbled on this, Chas Hodges keeping up with Albert Lee!

I think this is exactly what I think. Exactly. With my blues trio I do what I fancy as that is what it is about. With the Jovi tribute I do try to do it as per whatever version we settle on playing but Hugh McDonald is a great player and often does stuff I struggle with.

I like these a lot. I find them very comfy.

I stumbled upon this the other day. Totally not my thing but, well, Maddy Prior. In the comments someone says her voice is like a laser. Mrs S and I are followers of Go West. I've probably seen them live more than any other band. Peter Cox has the most remarkable quality about his voice, especially live. Aided, I suspect, by the fact that he reaches the high notes using his eyebrows. This is one of their lesser known tunes, a far cry from the vest and monkey wrench early stuff.

I am genuinely surprised by this. In asking to get folks to disagree politely I am now the bad guy? I find this ironic. Anyway, lesson learnt, I'll keep my nose out of other people's discussions from now on. 'Nothing to see here, move on'. 😁

Well, I may have my 'cranium up my anus'. I prefer to think of it as old fashioned courtesy and manners that, if I disagree with someone, I don't resort to ridicule. Yes, we all like different things and, yes, we all voice opinions about it. My point is let's just play nicely. Sorry if some of you think that is tedious - I'll get off my high horse now
