Thank you! Yes, Noel is spot on with the vocal, I think - the most important bit for a Bon Jovi trib, I'd say.

I saw UFO when Michael Schenker had first joined them - just before 'Phenomenon' was released. Wow, made a huge impression on me. Saw them again a few years on at the Roundhouse when they had one of their infamous on-stage bust-ups. MS stormed off. A few years ago my rock covers band always opened with 'We Belong To The Night'. What a great track! RIP, sir.

So, just how many basses do you own ????

Hmm. Mahrooschick Jake 5 Peavey Foundation 5 Gibson Thunderbird Gibson LP DC Squier JV Precision Harley Benton Shorty Precision Hondo Alien, modded. Hohner B2B Honcore - my 32" scale Hondo/Encore bitsa. Sprackenbacker. 2 that don't count Stagg EUB, modded. Sigma electro-acoustic So 10, if you don't count the two that don't count. Not too bad, I've usually had more. -
Some Precisions weigh in at 8lbs or less, Jazzes are generally more but I am sure there must be some lighter ones. When it comes to specific lightweight basses, there is a Fender Precision Lyte, which is an active P/J with a very thin neck. About 7lbs. Doesn't quite sound like an 'old school' Precision or Jazz but is very nice. There is also a rarer MB-4 which doesn't look like a Fender, passive P/J, sounds more like a Jazz, also with a skinny neck and around 7lbs. I am still evangelistic about my newest squeeze - the Harley Benton PB Shorty. Weighs around 7lbs, sounds exactly like a Precision bass but is short scale. An impossible bargain at £80 new.

Tort scratchplate Sunburst finishes. Well, any burst finish, really. Tort scratchplate Modern single cuts where the upper bout looks like a cartoon whale. Tort scratchplate Red bases Tort scratchplate I think that's it. No, hang on, tort scratchplates. I've owned sunburst basses, once owned a red bass ( I had it refinished in black), currently own a single cut bass (but not particularly cetacean). But never ever a tort scratchplate.

That was mine. Serious seller's remorse.

I had a BX-5, the 5 string variant, and it was sublime. Beautifully made, sounded awesome. The 'Buyers Sellers Remorse' list just keeps on getting bigger and bigger....

And calibre, perhaps, ballistically speaking.

Not on your list but after I'd read @stewblack waxing lyrical about the HB Powerbank I bought one of those. £35 incl some leads. I like the idea of cutting loose from the mains lead! One less socket to worry about. I am currently running a minimal board comprising a TC Polytune, TC Spectradrive and Boss WL-50. It arrived fully charged and I've used it for perhaps 3 hrs of home practice, during which time just one of the 4 LEDs indicating charge level has gone out. They say it should last for 5 hrs but I wouldn't be surprised if it goes on for longer.

It was advertised on here long enough!

Even with Ultralites it would be closer to 9 than 8., sadly. It was only taking out the bridge pup that made it nearer 8 and that kind of defeats the point. Glad the old thing is being used! A good bass that, upon reflection, I could have kept as a backup 5er.

Fabulous basses. If only they were lighter! 😥 I went to a lot of time, effort and expense to get a BB5000 imported from Japan. Was it better than the BB425 I owned? yes. Was it a grand better? No. And I actually preferred the tone of the 425. Why can't they make an 8lb one!

From the sublime to the ridiculous.... my new Harley Benton Shorty Precision. Mi gusto mucho. Not keen on the white scratchplate so I attacked it with a Sharpie -
I would keep both. But if you really do need to get shot of one I voted for the Bass Collection to go. You'll never find another Camel bass. But which one makes you smile the most when you pick it up?

When I was in my mid-teens I taught myself to play guitar by playing along to early Status Quo. Who needs more than 3 chords, right? So when, in my mid 40s, I decided to start playing bass I did the same. I picked up my pick and hammered out root notes on my Peavey Milestone. To be honest nothing much has changed since then apart from the bass

One teeeeny niggle, slightly neck heavy. Non-slip strap sorts that out. @Rumple - I will have a search, thank you.
-
Ah, I see. Here you go, in an assortment of locations.

Tonight we were supposed to be headlining Sax Music Fest so we cobbled together this 'lockdown' video (well, keyboard player Ben did). Vocal is live, the rest is mimed (obvs).
-
Well, just at the moment it looks exactly like a Harley Benton shorty so I'll leave you to close your eyes and imagine... 😁 Might do something with the pickguard. I love black basses with either no pickguard or a black one. I'll do pics if that happens

Just put my favoured TI Flats on it. Golly Gosh. I'd sell all my expensive basses except I haven't got any.

Another new member of the HB PB Shorty Society - bought it on Tuesday and it arrived a short while ago. Took it out of the box, tuned it up. Hey Presto - nothing else needs doing. Absolutely nothing. Set up is to my liking. Fit and finish is extremely good. The maple in the headstock even has a little speckle running through it. Sounds like a Precision bass. Possibly not as much character in the tone as my more expensive P basses but it absolutely does the job. 3.2kg/7lbs. 2x allen keys for truss rod and bridge and a cheap lead. £80 and, with the Powerbank I also bought, free shipping. I am flabberghasted, frankly. £80. I *may* stick a better pickup in it. I have a 62 Custom one kicking about. I *may* get a black pickguard made as I am not keen on white ones. Then again, I may just leave it be. I mean, £80 ffs.

I had one. They are heavy with wide flattish necks. Or, at least, on mine. Beautifully made but the perspex bridge was a bit of a weak point. I also found the stock pups to be a bit thin sounding, I must say.

Just done the same. Damn you and your silly ideas 😁
