Well, having three beers at once, do you think you are still following your mother's "drink in moderation" advice? 😉 -
Sorry, off topic, but both posts really made me think of this song: Court is in session, a verdict is in No appeal on the docket today just my own sin The walls cold and pale, the cage made of steel Screams fill the room, alone I drop and kneel ...... Should have been dead on a Sunday morning, banging my head No time for mourning Ain't got no time

The man, the myth, the legend 😁

Yes, cool video and Ian is an Empire guy, but I would have preferred a track from Operation Mindcrime. Fortunately, there is this cool headless guy on YT 😁 who delivers a fab cover of one of my fav Queensryche songs, which is perfect for Valentine's Day. BTW, great Kramer era black NS-2 that would go so well with my white Mike Starr bass *wink* *wink* 😜

If in doubt, ask yourself - "What would Spinal Tap do?" 😉

What are you listening to right now?
Eldon Tyrell replied to Sarah5string's topic in General Discussion
Listened to this song and decided to keep my Stingray 🤩 -
Ian likes the Antigua finish. He has a 78 Fender and Olinto made him one in Goldtigua. Not my cup of tea, to be honest. I used to have Spectors with fancy tops, solid highly figured maple wings, natural, walnut etc. However, my actual favs are the solid colours: black and white! Probably because of Eddie Jackson and Mike Starr.

Charvel launched his signature bass in September 2022, so, I guess, it will be 2 years before he switches again, probably to Warwick next 😉 https://www.notreble.com/buzz/2022/09/30/charvel-custom-shop-introduces-frank-bello-signature-bass/

Let's see what they'll come up with. Looking forward to it! From BassMagazine: https://bassmagazine.com/spector-welcomes-frank-bello-of-anthrax-to-their-family-of-artists/ "Spector® welcomes Anthrax bass legend, Frank Bello to its artist roster. Anthrax is one of the most influential thrash metal bands of all time and Bello’s brutal bass riffs have been the driving force behind that success for forty years. Spector is currently developing the Frank Bello signature bass and it will be released in 2025. In the meantime, Frank will be exclusively playing Spector basses for rehearsals, recording, and on the upcoming European tour this November during Anthrax’s co-headlining tour with German thrash titans Kreator with Bay Area thrashers, Testament. “I am so psyched to join the Spector family- a place that already feels like home for me! The great people at Spector listened and contributed to every last detail that I was looking for in a bass- and I am truly so excited for everybody to see what we’ve come up with. It was great to have the opportunity to bring some Spector basses on tour to give them a test run, and I can honestly say- they checked all the boxes, and then some… Good times ahead, my friends- Let’s do this!! “Stated Bello. As Taylor McLam, Spector’s Artist Relations says, “We are honored to welcome Frank Bello into the Spector family. Having a NYC thrash metal legend like Frank playing a legendary NYC brand like Spector is truly a match made in heaven—or should I say, hell?” There will be much, much more coming from this monster metal alliance. Spector continues to be the bass that touring musicians love to play. Check out www.spectorbass.com for up-to-the-minute updates on this and all things Spector."

Oh no, I know where this is going. Now everyone will try to locate your former bass. Someone will eventually find it in some obscure part of the world. With the help of several other Basschatters you will be re-united with your 97 Jazz. You will be be super happy with it until..., well...., you sell it again after a few months 🙂

The Professional I was launched in 2017, the Pro II followed in 2020. So, it is indeed time for the Pro III. Over at TB, when they launched the Player Plus in 2021, I already wrote: "Looks like Fender's marketing people really love the letter "P": Professional I, Professional II, Performer, Player and now Player Plus. What next? Power, Progress, Proficiency, Prestige, Privilege, Popular, Phenomenon, Pure, Paradigm, Preference, Paramount, Pleasure, Premiere, Pinnacle, Premium, Prowess, Purity, or Peak?" 🙂

I am selling this nice flight case that I bought to store one of my Spector basses a few years ago. The case is in great condition (home storage use only!). Here is the link to what the same one costs nowadays (£135): https://www.thomann.co.uk/harley_benton_flight_case_wood_bass.htm From the website: For electric bass Material: Plywood, covered Edges: Aluminium Rounded chrome corners Nickel-plated steel spring handle with transparent PVC cover Five butterfly latches Padded inside cover with convoluted foam Foam inserts with double-sided tape to accurately adjust the instrument Inside dimensions (L x W x H): 1185 x 360 x 75 mm External dimensions: 125 x 45 x 15 cm Weight: 9.8 kg Made in Germany Collection would be recommended but I can also ship it (UK mainland only, sorry!) using a decent courier. Shipping would of course add some costs (approx. £20/30). If you come and collect (and spare me the hassles of shipping :- ), then I'll throw in a nice Hercules GS414BPLUS Guitar Stand for free. Only used it a home, so it it is in mint condition. As I sold most of my basses, I just have too many guitar stand that I do not need anymore. A new one costs £42.90 from the retailer I got mine from: https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Hercules-GS414BPLUS-Guitar-Stand/2GY0

I just need to generate some funds for the second stage of our house renovation project. Everything is sooo expensive and I don't have the skills to do any of the jobs myself 😞 Will still keep (or try my very best to keep) my beloved Spector Mike Starr. I am sure that at a later stage, I will get another Stingray. This has been my 8th and it will definitely be a 2EQ again. There is something special about them (and I've tried 2EQ, 3EQ (both pre-2018 SR and post 2018 Special), passive (Timmy C) and Darkglass preamp (Darkray).

I am happy to trade this lovely 2010 Ernie Ball Music Man 4H 2EQ bass in candy red. I bought it from BassBros earlier this year. I cleaned it thoroughly and touched up the little dings on the upper horn and near the bridge. See photos below. The bass is in great condition – comfortable neck, good balance, no fret buzz, and the tuners and knobs are sturdy and move smoothly. Everything feels like great quality. The bass weighs 4.4 kg and comes with the original EBMM gig bag. As mentioned in the title, the only bass that I am interested in is the Spector Euro Ian Hill Signature model, the PJ version, not the recent 50th anniversary model.

Yet another band name suggestion thread
Eldon Tyrell replied to Leonard Smalls's topic in General Discussion
but there are already sooooo many of them. How do you then stand out of the crowd? Well, learn from Magritte and his famous painting "This is not a pipe" and call yourself - "This is not the <something> Quartet/Quintet" 🙂 -
Unfortunately, SUB really stood for Sport Utility Bass as confirmed by the man himself, BP/Big Poppa/Sterling Ball in this thread from 2005: https://forums.ernieball.com/threads/did-we-ever-find-out-what-sub-stood-for.9598/ Enjoneer: "Yes, the SUB Bass was the first to appear and was dubbed the Sport Utility Bass. BP actually announced that the bass was going to be called the "SUB" and let everyone at EB/MM stew and struggle trying to figure out what it meant until it was released at NAMM. Next came the SUB5, which still made sense. But when the SUB1 Guitar was born SUB took on a new meaning and the word BASS was added to the SUB and SUB5 headstocks." Big Poppa: "Thanks Enjoneer."

Yet another band name suggestion thread

Your name is Smalls and your band is playing jazz blues or blues jazz. Obvious name: Isle of Lucy. Named after the famous "The Isle of Lucy jazz and blues festival". Marty DiBergi : Now, during the Flower People period, who was your drummer? David St. Hubbins : Stumpy's replacement, Peter James Bond. He also died in mysterious circumstances. We were playing a, uh... Nigel Tufnel : ...Festival. David St. Hubbins : Jazz blues festival. Where was that? Nigel Tufnel : Blues jazz, really. Derek Smalls : Blues jazz festival. Misnamed. Nigel Tufnel : It was in the Isle of, uh... David St. Hubbins : Isle of Lucy. The Isle of Lucy jazz and blues festival. Nigel Tufnel : And, uh, it was tragic, really. He exploded on stage. Derek Smalls : Just like that. David St. Hubbins : He just went up. Nigel Tufnel : He just was like a flash of green light... And that was it. Nothing was left. David St. Hubbins : Look at his face. Nigel Tufnel : Well, there was... David St. Hubbins : It's true, this really did happen. Nigel Tufnel : It's true. There was a little green globule on his drum seat. David St. Hubbins : Like a stain, really. Nigel Tufnel : It was more of a stain than a globule, actually. David St. Hubbins : You know, several, you know, dozens of people spontaneously combust each year. It's just not really widely reported. -

I am selling this nice Mono M80 Bass Sleeve Gig Bag in black. The gig bag is in great condition. I got it a year ago for £154 and only used it at home to store one of my Spector basses. So, it has never left the house. The only signs of wear are inside where the tuners touched the inside material. See one of the photos. Apart from that, it is in mint condition. UK shipping only (sorry!) and shipping costs are included. Will use the original box for shipping. From the website (https://monocreators.com/products/bass-sleeve-case-black😞 Bass Sleeve Case, Black The Bass Sleeve® Case is designed to be a minimalist solution for traveling light and simple, and it is where MONO's innovative protection and high quality construction standards are merged into a super slim and stylish design. 360° PROTECTION Like the Vertigo™, the Bass Sleeve® Case is Top-Loading® for quick, stand-up access. Its design allows you to quickly unzip the case and pull your bass out from the top. This is enabled by a hidden diagonal hinge on the front panel of the case. Once unzipped, the case naturally opens out and to the right. No need to lay the case down on the floor. Easy access. The Bass Sleeve® Case features a slimmer variation of the Headlock® — MONO's patented neck suspension system. This slimmer Headlock® is molded from solid, shock-absorbing EVA rubber to protect the neck and headstock from impact during falls. When your bass is zipped-in, its neck is automatically secured inside the Headlock®'s contoured groove. At the bottom, the case features a super slim EVA insole to keep the body off the ground and protect the strap pin from bottoming-out when the case is put down too hard. SMART STORAGE The Bass Sleeve® Case features a messenger bag style storage pouch that's perfect for small laptops, tablets, notebooks, cables and other extras that you might need when traveling light. A small interior mesh pocket keeps those little, critical items close at hand. BUILT TO LAST WEAR IT OUT MONO cases are built to military specs, using only high-test materials with extreme resistance to abrasion and the elements. Inside, the plush lining protects delicate custom finishes. Outside, the water-resistant shell keeps you on the move, rain or shine. 100% animal free. RIVETED HANDLE & CUSTOM STEEL BUCKLE Rock solid, industrial webbing handles come standard on MONO cases. Bar-tack stitching and steel rivets reinforce for strength, while high grade webbing provides a super comfortable grip. A custom steel buckle is used to secure the storage pouch with industrial seatbelt webbing. Simple and secure with a nice touch of style. DIMENSIONS & FITTING LIKE A GLOVE The above measurements represent the inner capacity of the Bass Sleeve® Case. If you are unsure about the fit for your instrument, make sure it does not exceed any of the maximum dimensions shown. The Sleeve is designed for standard, solid-body electric instruments. I am selling my lovely Roland Micro Cube Bass RX. This little amp spent the last few years in my office and I used it only very occasionally (never used outside the office). As you can see in one of the photos, it even recently got tested for electrical safety and it is safe to use (so it won't electrocute you 😉 Unfortunately, we are no longer allowed to keep electrical items in our offices that are not necessary for our job roles, so I had to take it home. As I do not need it at home, I am now selling it! The Micro Cube is in great condition. It comes with eight built-in COSM amps, six digital effects, three-band EQ, and a chromatic tuner. It even has a built-in drum machine (Rhythm Guide). Cool stuff. Finally, the amp can also be powered with batteries (not included). Collection would be recommended but I can also ship it (UK only, sorry!) using a decent courier. Shipping would of course add some costs (approx. £20). From the website (https://www.roland.com/uk/products/micro_cube_bass_rx/specifications/😞 "Meet the new MICRO CUBEs — small, loud, proud, and in true stereo!
