  1. Wow. Congrats. Killer looking bass ๐Ÿ˜
  2. Great idea. I got my first album in 78 and it is not what people think I would be into. Still have it! So, watch this space ๐Ÿ™‚
  3. I was not around in 1970, so, I did some googeling and saw that this song got released in 1970. It has one of the first basslines I learned to play and I still enjoy playing it on my 74 P with flats:
  4. Great looking bass. Not so sure about the boot though ๐Ÿ˜‰ GLWTS ๐Ÿ‘
  5. Correct. Here you go... https://john-taylor-daily.tumblr.com/post/42518342933/the-interview-with-john-from-bass-guitar
  6. Apparently, he also played G&L and Spector basses later in his career but I could not find any photo of him playing these. Maybe in the studio only?
  7. I posted this some time ago, but this is a good place to post it again. Good documentary about the Seattle grunge scene. Check it out! "This rock documentary by director Doug Pray focuses on the explosion of grunge music that took place in the Pacific Northwest during the early 1990s. While the film features the most popular bands of the movement -- namely Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Soundgarden -- it also presents lesser-known acts such as the Melvins, Mudhoney and Seaweed. Incorporating concert clips, interviews and behind-the-scenes footage, the movie paints a dynamic picture of this highly influential scene."
  8. I agree but I have some hope that rock will have a comeback, thanks to kids like Nandi (performing here with the Foo Fighters) and bands like "The Warning" (three sisters, two are still teenagers, I think). The bass player (Ale) is probably having a Spector signature bass next year. They already gave her a cool custom bass. They have already released two albums and are working on their third. Here's my fav song from their latest EP. They normally sing in English but this one is in Spanish (the band is from Mexico):
  9. I hope to receive a bass in early Jan, so, in best Dragon's Den manner, "I am out" ๐Ÿ˜‰
  10. I liked the first three SP records. They lost me with Adore. Although, I saw them live in 98, with Kenny Aronoff instead of Jimmy Chamberlin, and the songs sounded much better than on record. Jimmy is definitely a great drummer, probably one of the best in the rock scene.
  11. Alice in Chains were never part of the hair metal scene. That was Alice N' Chains, a different band (but with Layne as lead singer).
  12. For me it has to be Core but I like all there albums, maybe except for their latest one (Perdida)
  13. Agree, STP are extremely versatile and several of Rob DeLeos's basslines are among my fav to play. Plush for example has several interesting sections and is a joy to play.
  14. Agree, big STP fan too. I think to remember that he started playing one of their songs but then moved on to something else.
  15. I played the same model in GG B'ham and I can confirm that the neck is killer. Super nice to play. Fortunately (for my bank account ; - ) I already have more than enough PJs, otherwise I would be tempted. GLWTS ๐Ÿ‘
  16. Great to see Rick Beato talking about and listening to several of my fav bands (Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Nirvana) in this more than 90min video. Cool stuff. Check it out!
  17. Well, thank God then that probably not that many Eldon's will buy one ๐Ÿ˜‰ BTW, if you are interested in something made in very small numbers, you may want to contact me. I have a Spector Forte in a rare finish. Only two were made. Spector's former VP, PJ Rubal, owns one and I own the other. Could be a delayed Christmas gift?
  18. 2022 will also hopefully be the year that I finally get hold of an EBMM Stingray 4, 2 EQ, natural finish, and maple FB. Needs contouring (so no pre-EB, Classic or Old Smoothie slab body). I know they exist but there aren't probably that many floating around. The photo shows a classic, so it is almost what I want (but lacks the contouring).
  19. If you like blue and burst, what about an inverted blue burst like this one?
  20. Metallic/CAR red like this G&L. Looks killer (yes, I am biased as I am heavy into red basses ;- )
  21. You clearly have good taste ๐Ÿ™‚ We probably got our Cutlass basses from the same retailer. I talked to one of the owners and he told me that he had bought up all the remaining Cutlass basses from the German distributor (Musik Meyer). Some time ago, they also had one in natural. Very rare one. Would have loved that one. BTW, this will be my second Cutlass. Last year, I had one in diamond blue (see below). I only sold it to finance a Spector bass. A year later, I missed my Cutlass and when I saw the Coral one, I could not resist.
  22. Unfortunately, my Christmas present did not make it in time. Ordered it from a shop in Germany but there were problems with obtaining export forms or something like that. Don't worry, I am not starting a rant about "you know what", but it is still a bummer. Well, will be my first bass of 2022 then ๐Ÿ™‚
