Great to see Rick Beato talking about and listening to several of my fav bands (Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Nirvana) in this more than 90min video. Cool stuff. Check it out!

Well, thank God then that probably not that many Eldon's will buy one π BTW, if you are interested in something made in very small numbers, you may want to contact me. I have a Spector Forte in a rare finish. Only two were made. Spector's former VP, PJ Rubal, owns one and I own the other. Could be a delayed Christmas gift?

2022 will also hopefully be the year that I finally get hold of an EBMM Stingray 4, 2 EQ, natural finish, and maple FB. Needs contouring (so no pre-EB, Classic or Old Smoothie slab body). I know they exist but there aren't probably that many floating around. The photo shows a classic, so it is almost what I want (but lacks the contouring).

If you like blue and burst, what about an inverted blue burst like this one?

Metallic/CAR red like this G&L. Looks killer (yes, I am biased as I am heavy into red basses ;- )

You clearly have good taste π We probably got our Cutlass basses from the same retailer. I talked to one of the owners and he told me that he had bought up all the remaining Cutlass basses from the German distributor (Musik Meyer). Some time ago, they also had one in natural. Very rare one. Would have loved that one. BTW, this will be my second Cutlass. Last year, I had one in diamond blue (see below). I only sold it to finance a Spector bass. A year later, I missed my Cutlass and when I saw the Coral one, I could not resist.

Unfortunately, my Christmas present did not make it in time. Ordered it from a shop in Germany but there were problems with obtaining export forms or something like that. Don't worry, I am not starting a rant about "you know what", but it is still a bummer. Well, will be my first bass of 2022 then π

What Are You Up to This New Years Eve ?

Planning to have a "living room gig" (i.e., me playing along songs on YT) - best of grunge - with my Spector Forte for my wife, my neighbours (well, they have to listen to it, if they want or not ; -) and the squirrel who lives in our attic π It will be loud, very loud, time to use my 200w GK amp for a good cause π -
Great advice. Last year, I ordered a G&L LB100 from them. Unfortunately, it had very noisy electronics (no shielding) and I had to return it. Was not a problem at all. Smooth process. So far, touch wood, I only had good experiences with GG! So, yes, worth a try.

I agree, it would be good if retailers listed the weight for basses, like for example Sweetwater does. However, I doubt it will be too heavy. Fender is using pine for their AM Pro II Jazz basses with the natural finish (instead of ash, which is getting rare). They even promote it as "Roasted pine body is strong, lightweight, and stable".

Wow, this looks tempting. G&L make awesome basses. Prices are great too for basses made in California and especially in comparison to other companies still manufacturing in California (yes, EBMM, I am looking at you ; -)

Post pandemic, both Summer and Winter NAMM may return. However, they could decide to run only one show per year (like this year). I recently watched a podium discussion including representatives from Dean guitars, EMG, Seymour Duncan, Fishman etc and they mentioned the huge costs of attending NAMM (someone mentioned $100k) but also pointed to the importance of meeting in person. They also discussed the possibility of there being more specialised, smaller events in the future. We'll see. My guess is that there will be only one NAMM in the future, maybe smaller and that there will be other, more specialised events in the future. I cannot see a total reliance on virtual events only in the future. People enjoy meeting other people in the real world and also enjoy getting away from their jobs for some time and hanging out with colleagues and friends.

Like last year, there will be a virtual NAMM "Believe in Music" event in Jan (20-21). It is free to attend and will include the following: "The 2022 Believe in Music programming lineup will include: 10+ hours of the Believe TV livestream Interactive brand pages 50+ education sessions across multiple tracks: NAMM U TEC Tracks Live event production House of Worship Music and Social Justice Music Education Days Music & Wellness GenNext NAMM Young Professionals Nonprofit Management Institute Roundtables, discussions and networking opportunities Fundraising for The NAMM Foundation Career development opportunties" https://www.namm.org/thenammshow/2022/articles/believe-music-returns There are still plans to run "NAMM 2022" (combining Winter and Summer NAMM) in June (3-5): https://www.namm.org/thenammshow/2022/attend

-
Yeah, I thought I had seen this guy before somewhere π
-
"A number of Fodera basses for sale atm" BTW, which ATM is it? One in Chorley? Let me know please and I'll send my driver to pick them up from there.
