  1. Thanks for that. Cool stuff. I tried it out, all the way, well except for putting in my card details 😉 Total costs for the HH model: £2671.49 Cart Subtotal (1 item): £2057.72 GBP UPS Expedited: £77.91 GBP Duties and taxes: £535.86 GBP Order Total: £2671.49 GBP Guaranteed Total Landed Cost! - No additional VAT or Duties will be applied to your order. That's more than £300 cheaper than a regular Stingray Special HH here in the UK (e.g.: £2999 for the Raspberry finish at BD) and it comes with an ebony FB and a matching headstock. So, I guess I will keep an eye on the Vault and maybe, one day, they will have a Stingray Special HH with a natural finish and black hardware (like Timmy C's Ray).
  2. Cool stuff. Congrats. BTW, I thought I'd seen it before (RW instead of maple FB though):
  3. Spector Forte 4 in gloss black
  4. Talking of the 80s, here's another of my fav prog bands in action:
  5. I get that UK prices will be higher than US prices for obvious reasons (shipping, distributor markup etc.). That's why the $ dollar price pretty much equalled the £ price (so let's say $2,399 in the US and £2,399 in the UK) even though the exchange rate is not 1:1. However, this year it is $2,399 in the US (Sweetwater) and £2,899 in the UK (Andertons) and that's what's different and what I still don't understand. It also seems to be EBMM specific as, for example, for Fender (Professional II P bass, Dark Knight finish,) it is: $1,549 in the US (Sweetwater) and £1,699 in the UK (Andertons).
  6. Fully agree. I really hope customers will not let EBMM get away with it, especially as they are charging non US based customers suddenly so much more - Price for a new Stingray Special in Raspberry Burst: $2,399 in the US (Sweetwater) and £2,899 in the UK (Andertons). Well, don't think so 😡
  7. I can imagine. That's what I like about my Spectors too. The "mega oomph" they have.
  8. Here is a link to a thread where we discussed the new colours and also had quite a heated debate about the new prices. I like some of the new finishes (esp. the HH in raspberry burst. I would have bought one for the old price but then went for a used G&L L2k in CAR instead) but think that the new prices are way too high: New EBMM Stingray Special Colours and Prices - Bass Guitars - Basschat
  9. Wow. That looks great and yes, this is the proof that nothing is impossible. Congrats!
  10. Checked out Voyager. Like it. Like it a lot. I don't know if it is just me but I sense some 80s vibes, at least in the songs I checked out. Maybe it is just me being an 80s kid. Speaking of the 80s, here is a band that is more 80s than the 80s were 😁 Not sure what their label mates on Nuclear Blast think of them though 😎
  11. Cheers, mate. "Normal" Fortes come with matte finishes and the Aguilar OBP-2 or Darkglass TC preamp. However, upgrades such as the Haz 9V or 18V and nowadays gloss finishes are possible (BD recently had a Forte 5 in gloss plum crazy). I think even crown inlays are doable but I quite like the "naked" no-frills look. However, fancy wood tops are still a no-no for the Forte.
  12. Speaking of addiction, in case you haven't seen my NBD threat, here is my new Forte 4 (EMG PJx, Haz 9V, alder wings, gloss black finish (still quite unusual for the Forte model) and super light). This beast has some serious oomph and infinite sustain. You hit a string and it literally rings forever. Cool stuff. What's best? Early AIC and Queensryche vibes come for free 😎
  13. Say hello to your new addiction 😉
  14. Speaking of prog, in case you don't know them yet, then check out Riverside. I really like them. Quite bass driven too (singer is also the bass player) and fun to play!
  15. Yes, Dead Letter Circus are pretty good too. Oz has so many amazing (prog) bands, maybe I should move there?
  16. Just found out that the Karnivool tour has been postponed until May next year. Makes sense but still a bummer 😒
  17. Nice one. I used to own the same model. Very fair price, especially if one considers what Stingrays cost nowadays (£3k!). BTW, PMT Manchester (technically Salford) used to be called Sound Control. That's where I bought my first ever bass! GLWTS 👍
  18. 8 strings? Wow, four too many for my skill level 😉 Preamp recommendations: 1. Hazlab (but pretty expensive), 2. Tonepump with trimpot. 3. Aguilar OBP 2 or 3 Pickup recommendations: 1. EMG 35P4X, 2. EMG 35DCX or a combination of both (P4X for the neck, DCX for the bridge)
  19. Yeah, I saw that and hope it will become available here in the UK. I checked the usual suspects (Andertons, PMT and GuitarGuitar who are the official G&L distributors here in the UK (at least according to G&L's website)) but no one is carrying one. I guess I could always ask one of them to try and order one (and also get me a black pickguard) but let's hope G&L comes up with a SB-1 anniversary model with black hardware next year! Something like this one:
  20. Sorry to hear about your health issues, Dave. What a bummer ☹️ Your Ian Hill sig looks great and it is indeed a limited edition (50 made in black and 50 in white to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Judas Priest). However, this bass should also be of interest to non JP fans as it not only looks great but also has a fast neck (Ian Hill models have a slim neck, front to back, but with the same nut width as normal Euro and US models, unlike the Doug Wimbish model which has a 1.5'' nut) and unlimited oomph thanks to the Tonepump preamp. Moreover, it has solid maple wings and not the Euro typical alder/walnut/maple or poplar burl sandwich. Finally, the price is super fair, considering it seems to be in mint condition, only a few months old and a new one costs £2.1k. For the £400 you save, you can get yourself the HAzlab 9V preamp and some oval crowns fretboard stickers to turn it into an NS-2 😎 GLWTS 👍
  21. Cheers. Yes, still have the other two too. 5 Spector basses in total at the moment: 3 Fortes and 2 Euro basses (Mike Starr LE and 1977 LE). I think I will stop buying any more and instead start saving money for a NS-2 with a finish like this one:
  22. A few years ago, I bought a Gibson T'bird in GuitarGuitar's Epsom store. They have a dedicated tech guy in the store who set up the bird to my liking. Great service 👍
  23. Cheers. Thin and wide neck (Ian Hill/Kramer Era). All my Fortes have that profile. Plays like a dream. Super light too.
