Cool Thread. Well, on "Have I got news for you", this one would be the "odd one out" as it is not a song about dentistry but sung by a trained dentist 😎
-
I checked some LXs and found the necks too chunky. Last year, I ordered the Fishman Fluence LT and that one had a chunky neck too. I sold it. My 77 LE has a nice thin neck and my Mike Starr has a neck somewhere between the 77 and the LX and LT. For my Fortes, I asked for the thin neck specs which they also do for the Ian Hill model.

Yes, definitely looks much better. I did not notice any difference in tone or depth. The 77 has so much oomph that even if the new bridge were to have a bit less oomph, it would still have so much oomph that I would not notice any drop in oomph, d'you know what I mean?

Well, what can I say. I think we discussed this "special" edition earlier in this thread. They are only making 25 4-string and 25 5-string. Let's see if there are that many squid lovers out there. Maybe they should market it as this bloke's signature bass 😉
-
I agree, looks cool but I don't think the boot will fit on the Spector though.
-
What are you listening to right now?

Could be but I don't know to be honest.
-
Yeah, not cheap but I think it will look killer and maybe make the bass a bit lighter too (as it did for my 77):

Man, that finish looks great. Fortunately (for my bank account), I do not play 5 string basses

Sold - please lock - Spector Euro LE4 1977

Yes, Spector GAS is real and a very costly disease 😉 We will probably see even more Spector basses with Aguilar pickups now that Korg USA has bought them
-
Yeah, in an ideal world I would have bought them all. The amber one looked great too. I wonder if someone here on BC bought it. Lucky him/her 😎

Yes, Mark is a cool dude. I have bought almost all my Spector basses there (and some others as well ; -) I have already bought three basses from him this year and it is still March 🤪 BTW, did you know that Mark played a role in the design of the Darkglass Tone Capsule? Sheldon is sharing the story in this video (09:20 onwards). Cool stuff

I can recommend the D'Addario EXL 165.

I like what I am seeing, especially the red LX. Believe it or not, a few years back I was very close to buying that bass at BD. It was between this one, a LX with an amber finish and the 77. I eventually went for the 77 but it was a close call. Enjoy 🙂

Man, killer looking bass. When I see a black gloss Spector I immediately think of Mike Starr during the Facelift tour. I know, I have shared it before but I just cannot help myself 😉 Check out from 1:23

Congrats. Great looking bass. As mentioned, I would check with Mark at Bass Direct. That's where I got my gold bridge and tuners from.
-
I agree with the others. It is a fair price but I would try to get the asking price down a bit. These Euros with the solid maple wings (instead of the alder/walnut/maple or burl sandwich) are rare and great. If you want gold hardware instead of the chrome one, then ask Mark at Bass Direct to get it for you. He did it for my Euro 77 as I prefer gold over chrome too. He had the tuners in stock and ordered the bridge for me. Finally, if you want your Euro to sound even closer to a NS-2, then replace the TP with the Haz 9V. BD has it in stock too. Enjoy!

Spector fans! Hope you are all fine and staying safe. This showed up in my YT feed today. Cool limited run Spectors with Ziricote tops. I have never heard of that wood but I think it looks great. I really like what the Ish guys are doing. In the video, Jesse is playing a NS-5. However, I really dig the the Spectorbird with the pale moon ebony FB. 😍 Hope they'll make a video featuring that one too.

The bass is not my cup of tea either but it has an interesting story:
-
Agree and then they should finally fix the wrong "boost only" info on the website too: Euro4 LX by Spector Bass Guitars CONTROLS Volume, Volume, Treble Boost, Bass Boost
-
Yes, the Haz 18V is in their NS4. I comes with three knobs instead of the usual four: volume, blend, and stacked bass and treble. I got it for one of my Fortes. The NS4 normally comes with two EMG 35DCx soapbars. I have two EMG 35P4x instead, so technically it is a double P bass now. Sounds pretty cool.
-
500th post for me!!! The Euro LX come with an alder/walnut/maple or poplar burl sandwich. Some LEs have solid maple wings (e.g. the Mike Starr Euro 4LX LE) and I think the Ian Hill sig bass has them too. The 1977 and 1979 LEs had solid walnut wings. You also got the the Euro LT with alder/figured maple and Bartolini pickups and Darkglass Tone Capsule preamp and the Euro Classic with weight-relieved maple wings, EMG pickups and EMG BTS preamp.

In which way? Do the knobs go to 11? Is it much, much smaller than a regular bass? Do you get lost with it on the way to the stage? Just curious (big Tap fan)

Maybe it was then @cetera, adding Spector bass nr 30 to the collection? 😁 Custom Forte: Alder Wings, black gloss finish, black hardware, EMG PJx, and Haz 9V. My no-frills NS-2 to complement my no-frills NS-4 (Forte with swamp ash wings, black matte finish, EMG DCx and Haz 18V). I know your feeling. Same here. The last time I collected stuff was back in the mid/late 80s (computer games for the C64 and Amiga home computers) 😎 I only have a few non- Spectors but really want an old school P bass with flats and a 2 EQ Stingray Classic with old rounds or flats for the Bernard Edwards vibes. Then I "should" be ok, well, we'll see 😉
