  1. The Professional I was launched in 2017, the Pro II followed in 2020. So, it is indeed time for the Pro III. Over at TB, when they launched the Player Plus in 2021, I already wrote: "Looks like Fender's marketing people really love the letter "P": Professional I, Professional II, Performer, Player and now Player Plus. What next? Power, Progress, Proficiency, Prestige, Privilege, Popular, Phenomenon, Pure, Paradigm, Preference, Paramount, Pleasure, Premiere, Pinnacle, Premium, Prowess, Purity, or Peak?" 🙂
  2. I am selling this nice flight case that I bought to store one of my Spector basses a few years ago. The case is in great condition (home storage use only!). Here is the link to what the same one costs nowadays (£135): https://www.thomann.co.uk/harley_benton_flight_case_wood_bass.htm From the website: For electric bass Material: Plywood, covered Edges: Aluminium Rounded chrome corners Nickel-plated steel spring handle with transparent PVC cover Five butterfly latches Padded inside cover with convoluted foam Foam inserts with double-sided tape to accurately adjust the instrument Inside dimensions (L x W x H): 1185 x 360 x 75 mm External dimensions: 125 x 45 x 15 cm Weight: 9.8 kg Made in Germany Collection would be recommended but I can also ship it (UK mainland only, sorry!) using a decent courier. Shipping would of course add some costs (approx. £20/30). If you come and collect (and spare me the hassles of shipping :- ), then I'll throw in a nice Hercules GS414BPLUS Guitar Stand for free. Only used it a home, so it it is in mint condition. As I sold most of my basses, I just have too many guitar stand that I do not need anymore. A new one costs £42.90 from the retailer I got mine from: https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Hercules-GS414BPLUS-Guitar-Stand/2GY0
  3. Looks like another bass that BB was selling for me has sold, so I hope that I do no need to sell the SR any longer. However, a Spector Euro Ian Hill always tempted me, so that's what is on offer now - SR for IH trade.
  4. I just need to generate some funds for the second stage of our house renovation project. Everything is sooo expensive and I don't have the skills to do any of the jobs myself 😞 Will still keep (or try my very best to keep) my beloved Spector Mike Starr. I am sure that at a later stage, I will get another Stingray. This has been my 8th and it will definitely be a 2EQ again. There is something special about them (and I've tried 2EQ, 3EQ (both pre-2018 SR and post 2018 Special), passive (Timmy C) and Darkglass preamp (Darkray).
  5. Thanks, Dave. Much apprenticed. Your cheque is in the mail 😉
  6. I am happy to trade this lovely 2010 Ernie Ball Music Man 4H 2EQ bass in candy red. I bought it from BassBros earlier this year. I cleaned it thoroughly and touched up the little dings on the upper horn and near the bridge. See photos below. The bass is in great condition – comfortable neck, good balance, no fret buzz, and the tuners and knobs are sturdy and move smoothly. Everything feels like great quality. The bass weighs 4.4 kg and comes with the original EBMM gig bag. As mentioned in the title, the only bass that I am interested in is the Spector Euro Ian Hill Signature model, the PJ version, not the recent 50th anniversary model.
  7. but there are already sooooo many of them. How do you then stand out of the crowd? Well, learn from Magritte and his famous painting "This is not a pipe" and call yourself - "This is not the <something> Quartet/Quintet" 🙂
  8. Unfortunately, SUB really stood for Sport Utility Bass as confirmed by the man himself, BP/Big Poppa/Sterling Ball in this thread from 2005: https://forums.ernieball.com/threads/did-we-ever-find-out-what-sub-stood-for.9598/ Enjoneer: "Yes, the SUB Bass was the first to appear and was dubbed the Sport Utility Bass. BP actually announced that the bass was going to be called the "SUB" and let everyone at EB/MM stew and struggle trying to figure out what it meant until it was released at NAMM. Next came the SUB5, which still made sense. But when the SUB1 Guitar was born SUB took on a new meaning and the word BASS was added to the SUB and SUB5 headstocks." Big Poppa: "Thanks Enjoneer."
  9. Your name is Smalls and your band is playing jazz blues or blues jazz. Obvious name: Isle of Lucy. Named after the famous "The Isle of Lucy jazz and blues festival". Marty DiBergi : Now, during the Flower People period, who was your drummer? David St. Hubbins : Stumpy's replacement, Peter James Bond. He also died in mysterious circumstances. We were playing a, uh... Nigel Tufnel : ...Festival. David St. Hubbins : Jazz blues festival. Where was that? Nigel Tufnel : Blues jazz, really. Derek Smalls : Blues jazz festival. Misnamed. Nigel Tufnel : It was in the Isle of, uh... David St. Hubbins : Isle of Lucy. The Isle of Lucy jazz and blues festival. Nigel Tufnel : And, uh, it was tragic, really. He exploded on stage. Derek Smalls : Just like that. David St. Hubbins : He just went up. Nigel Tufnel : He just was like a flash of green light... And that was it. Nothing was left. David St. Hubbins : Look at his face. Nigel Tufnel : Well, there was... David St. Hubbins : It's true, this really did happen. Nigel Tufnel : It's true. There was a little green globule on his drum seat. David St. Hubbins : Like a stain, really. Nigel Tufnel : It was more of a stain than a globule, actually. David St. Hubbins : You know, several, you know, dozens of people spontaneously combust each year. It's just not really widely reported.
  10. Martin recently bought my Mono Sleeve gig bag. Nice and smooth transaction with super quick payment (several days before shipping the bag!). Excellent buyer. Thumbs up 👍
  11. Tom recently bought my Roland Micro Cube. Very smooth transaction and great comms. Thumbs up! 👍
  12. I am selling this nice Mono M80 Bass Sleeve Gig Bag in black. The gig bag is in great condition. I got it a year ago for £154 and only used it at home to store one of my Spector basses. So, it has never left the house. The only signs of wear are inside where the tuners touched the inside material. See one of the photos. Apart from that, it is in mint condition. UK shipping only (sorry!) and shipping costs are included. Will use the original box for shipping. From the website (https://monocreators.com/products/bass-sleeve-case-black😞 Bass Sleeve Case, Black The Bass Sleeve® Case is designed to be a minimalist solution for traveling light and simple, and it is where MONO's innovative protection and high quality construction standards are merged into a super slim and stylish design. 360° PROTECTION Like the Vertigo™, the Bass Sleeve® Case is Top-Loading® for quick, stand-up access. Its design allows you to quickly unzip the case and pull your bass out from the top. This is enabled by a hidden diagonal hinge on the front panel of the case. Once unzipped, the case naturally opens out and to the right. No need to lay the case down on the floor. Easy access. The Bass Sleeve® Case features a slimmer variation of the Headlock® — MONO's patented neck suspension system. This slimmer Headlock® is molded from solid, shock-absorbing EVA rubber to protect the neck and headstock from impact during falls. When your bass is zipped-in, its neck is automatically secured inside the Headlock®'s contoured groove. At the bottom, the case features a super slim EVA insole to keep the body off the ground and protect the strap pin from bottoming-out when the case is put down too hard. SMART STORAGE The Bass Sleeve® Case features a messenger bag style storage pouch that's perfect for small laptops, tablets, notebooks, cables and other extras that you might need when traveling light. A small interior mesh pocket keeps those little, critical items close at hand. BUILT TO LAST WEAR IT OUT MONO cases are built to military specs, using only high-test materials with extreme resistance to abrasion and the elements. Inside, the plush lining protects delicate custom finishes. Outside, the water-resistant shell keeps you on the move, rain or shine. 100% animal free. RIVETED HANDLE & CUSTOM STEEL BUCKLE Rock solid, industrial webbing handles come standard on MONO cases. Bar-tack stitching and steel rivets reinforce for strength, while high grade webbing provides a super comfortable grip. A custom steel buckle is used to secure the storage pouch with industrial seatbelt webbing. Simple and secure with a nice touch of style. DIMENSIONS & FITTING LIKE A GLOVE The above measurements represent the inner capacity of the Bass Sleeve® Case. If you are unsure about the fit for your instrument, make sure it does not exceed any of the maximum dimensions shown. The Sleeve is designed for standard, solid-body electric instruments. Hollow-body and other instruments with an overall maximum thickness (including bridge, pick-ups, knobs, toggles, etc.) of 3" are not recommended. Please check with support if you have fitting questions. 13. I am selling my lovely Roland Micro Cube Bass RX. This little amp spent the last few years in my office and I used it only very occasionally (never used outside the office). As you can see in one of the photos, it even recently got tested for electrical safety and it is safe to use (so it won't electrocute you 😉 Unfortunately, we are no longer allowed to keep electrical items in our offices that are not necessary for our job roles, so I had to take it home. As I do not need it at home, I am now selling it! The Micro Cube is in great condition. It comes with eight built-in COSM amps, six digital effects, three-band EQ, and a chromatic tuner. It even has a built-in drum machine (Rhythm Guide). Cool stuff. Finally, the amp can also be powered with batteries (not included). Collection would be recommended but I can also ship it (UK only, sorry!) using a decent courier. Shipping would of course add some costs (approx. £20). From the website (https://www.roland.com/uk/products/micro_cube_bass_rx/specifications/😞 "Meet the new MICRO CUBEs — small, loud, proud, and in true stereo! 14. Well, a Poison, Warrant or RATT patch would probably be more appropriate for a such a hair metal bass 😉 Ok, 4.7kg IS on the heavy side, but hey, it is a heavy metal bass after all 🙂 GLWTS 👍
  15. Cool looking bass. Not sure I have enough hair left to play such a bass though 😉 What is the weight please? Cheers!
  16. SOLD! Well, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". Or, less poetically, what do we know? 😉
  17. It reminds me of the scene from "Falling Down" when William Foster wants to order breakfast but has to order from the lunch menu instead. He eventually goes for the WhammyBurger because it looks great on the display board, only to be disappointed by what he gets instead 🙂
  18. The issue is the huge gap between what Korg advertises ("Each Euro CST instrument is meticulously crafted using premium materials, featuring a striking, highly figured Poplar Burl top, a resonant European Ash body, and a 3-piece North American Maple neck paired with an Ebony fingerboard) and what they actually ask retailers to sell:
  19. Yes, that looks awful. Korg sent some lovely looking CST's to their influencers to wet our appetite. Well, they should have sent them to their retailers too. For example, Sweetwater has a red CST in stock and it does not look anywhere near as good as the influencer ones. $3199? Wow. Good luck with that! I can see that BD also got a red CST (5 string). Again, the burst is a bit disappointing. A bit "Burst Light" or "Diet Burst" 😉 Interestingly, BD has already put them all on sale. Pretty much on the first day of selling them. Turbo-sale!
  20. Agree, this finish looks awesome. I just hope the neck will be chunky like most Euro necks, so I won't be tempted to buy the red CST 😉
  21. Nice video for both the new LX and CST:
  22. Great looking bass with some tasty upgrades, incl. better pots and the Fender CS 62 pickup. Weight is good too (3.9kg!). £500? Wow, that's a steal. I recently sold my last passive bass but this is now really, really tempting. I better ask my wife to block my bank account and hide my credit card 😉 GLWTS 👍
  23. Jim recently bought my Sadowsky preamp pedal. Smooth transaction and super quick payment. Thumbs up 👍
  24. I am selling this nice Sadowsky SBP-2 Outboard Bass Preamp, which is in mint condition and gives bass players the same electronics that have been used into every Sadowsky bass. It is a great preamp that is ideal for players who want to upgrade their passive vintage instruments without having to change the original electronics. As I no longer own any passive basses, I sadly don't have any use for it anymore. The preamp is now stored safely in its original box in a pet and smoke free house. UK shipping only (sorry!) and shipping costs are included. Feautures: - Bass Preamp / EQ - Provides the same high quality electronics as used in Sadowsky basses - EQ section works as bass and treble boost only Bass + 18 dB boost at 40 Hz Treble + 18 dB boost at 4 kHz - True Bypass - Controls for volume, treble, bass - Bypass footswitch - Status LEDs - 6.3 mm Mono jack input / output - Power supply with 9 V battery or via 9 V DC power supply unit (2.1 mm x 5.5 mm hollow female plug, polarity (-) inside, not included) - Power consumption: 3 mA - Metal housing - Dimensions (L x W x H): 112 x 70 x 53 mm - Weight: approx. 265 g More info on the Sadowsky website: https://sadowsky.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Preamp-Insert-SBP-2-low-res.pdf
  25. I am selling this nice set of EMG- 35P4 and 35J pickups. They are in mint condition and I bought them last summer for £160. I got them for my Spector NS-4, which I only played at home. The pickups are now stored safely in their original boxes in a pet and smoke free house. UK shipping only (sorry!) and shipping costs are included. From the EMG website: https://www.emgpickups.com/bass/extended-series/35p4.html The EMG 35P4 is our P bass pickup in an Extended range housing with the treble magnet closer to the neck (like a Spector or Yamaha bass). The EMG 35P4 covers a wide sonic palette of classic and modern bass sounds. Because the 35P4 utilizes ceramic magnets coupled with short, squat coils, the tone has brilliant high-end articulation, warmth, and incredible low end punch. Countless pros use this bass pickup because of its natural presence, superior dynamics, and low noise. For players who want a "Fender" P alignment - with the treble side closer to the bridge - we offer this pickup in "reverse". Utilizing EMG's solderless wiring, this pickup is easy to install at home. IN THE BOX PACKAGE INCLUDES EMG'S EXCLUSIVE SOLDERLESS INSTALL SYSTEM: 1 25K VOLUME POT 1 25K TONE POT 1 BATTERY BUS 1 STEREO OUTPUT JACK 1 PAIR MOUNTING SCREWS 1 PICKUP CABLE 2 CONNECT CABLES 1 OUTPUT CABLE 1 BATTERY CABLE https://www.emgpickups.com/bass/extended-series/35j.html The EMG 35J is our original J pickup in a Extended series housing for 4 string bass. This pickup has its coil located in the back of the housing - closer to the bridge - which gives it sweeping harmonic overtones and punch. This quiet pickup has classic jazz bass characteristics with a broader tonal frequency range that adds dimensions and clarity. EMG's design has a very low ratio of resistance to inductance, which increases the low end response, while the radiused ceramic bar magnet ensures the tone keeps a tight mid-range punch with a dynamic high end. This pickup uses a housing that is 3.5 inches (89mm) and comes with EMG's solderless wiring and controls. IN THE BOX PACKAGE INCLUDES EMG'S EXCLUSIVE SOLDERLESS INSTALL SYSTEM: 1 25K VOLUME POT 1 25K TONE POT 1 BATTERY BUS 1 STEREO OUTPUT JACK 1 PAIR MOUNTING SCREWS 1 PICKUP CABLE 2 CONNECT CABLES 1 OUTPUT CABLE 1 BATTERY CABLE
