1. Spector Custom Forte 4 in black with EMG PJx and Haz 9V 2. EBMM Stingray Classic in natural with maple fingerboard (if I ever find one) 3. EBMM Stingray Special 4 HH in Ghost Pepper or Burnt Amber or another colour (depends on whether or not some new finishes get showcased at the virtual Winter NAMM in 3 weeks) or in natural with black hardware (kind of a Timmy C sig bass, I hope for it every year, let's see, maybe 2021 is finally the year ; -) 4. Maybe a Fender 70th Anniversary P Bass (in case there is one and it is any good) 5. Tech 21 YYZ pedal

A black Spector. Cool stuff. I have one on order too. Had to get one after I saw Mike Starr playing one in this video. Let's see if you will also jump around like him on stage (see e.g. 1:21 in the video) π

Me too. Black and red, my fav colours!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone π

That's why I love BC. You always learn something new. I always thought the cookie monster was male, now I find out "he" is actually a "her", a granny and working for Thomann. Guess the pension (s)he is receiving from the Sesame Street show is not enough and that's why (s)he has to work for a music retailer. Sad world π

Nice one, I guess they have never heard the proverb "You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar". π

Dark Night colour scheme - Fender American Precision II
Eldon Tyrell replied to MacDaddy's topic in Bass Guitars
No, it is one of the official 7 finishes for the new P and one of the 8 colours for the new J. So, it will be offered at least until the next series in 2/3 years, maybe called "Pro III" (Fender could it then call the Pro Trilogy) or, after Pro, Performer, and Player, a new series called "Prestige" or "Progress" or "Perfection" or "Punch" or "Pure" or "Payday"..... π -
The 10 Best Bassists in the World 2020

Suzi rocks. I met her once at a LBGS. She was super nice. Still have the LBGS mug with her signature. Have to watch her documentary during the Xmas break. -

Fake news π -
The one on the right reminded me more of my Lakland Skyline 4401. Never liked the look of the lower horn. Not as bad as the one on the Bongo though π

Difference between a Stingray Special and Classic
Eldon Tyrell replied to lancer's topic in Bass Guitars
This week I lost out on a stunning looking Stingray Special in natural. Well, it means that I am on the market again for another one or a Classic in natural. Let me know if you want to part with one. I have already put an ad in the "Items Wanted" section but no response so far π₯΄ -
Agree. However, even though I have never met Peter Hook, judging from his interviews and performances, he does not come across as someone how would care too much about marketing. Anyway, to please the marketing men and show some love for Salford (well, indirectly), he could have gone for "Greater Manchester, England" π
-
It's an award winning bass now!
-
That reminds me of something: As Peter Hook is from Salford and still seems to be proud of the place (See "Salford rules" in the video below), shouldn't it then say "Salford, England" on the back of the headstock instead of "Manchester, England"? π

Cheers. I have to admit that I've never heard of Alexis Sklarevski. However, he clearly has an excellent taste in basses (not so much in spectacles though ;- ) I'll check him out! The 77 indeed only has one split single coil (as it is a homage to the first NS-1 from 77) but the Euro 79 LE has an additional single coil in the bridge position (as it is a homage to the first NS-2, launched in 79). I've never played a 79 but I am sure it is as great if not even better than the 77! Euro4 LE1979 by Spector Bass Guitars

Ok, back to Spector: Early Christmas present from BD. Just saw on BD' FB page that Mark got hold of the last two Spector Euro 77 LE π I have the 77 myself and I can tell you that this LE is amazing, super nice and thin neck, killer sound (P bass on steroids) and for a great price. Check it out here: https://bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Spector_LE_4_SE_1977.html

Wow, this looks great and so much better than the ones I saw online and in YT videos. It is also signed by the man himself (in addition to the printed signature), cool stuff π

I think you could be right. Maybe it is a test rum to see how much interest there really is in a PH sig bass. Depending on the identified demand, they may decide to build some more. That's why they don't say themselves that it is a limited edition.

On Bass Direct's FB page, Mark mentions that there are 47 in the UK

I know, I know, it was a bit sneaky π 91 had some great albums but I had to smuggle AIC, Tool and RATM in. I was even considering smuggling in 93 to feature Tool's Undertow. I just want rock music to reach the mainstream again, so that more people become aware of it and get interested in it and play it too. Thinking of it, however, it may be an old school, pre- Internet, pre-social media, pre-streaming way of thinking. I guess I am just getting old, nostalgic and Covid-cabin fever ridden π₯΄ Let's just do what Stuart Spector told me when I met him once at a LBGS: "Play music and bring joy to the people". Still remember that!
