You are correct but it still does not look great, at least in my view. I think one will struggle finding one with a great looking wood grain. Alder is your classical wood choice for a solid finish, not a translucent one. Anyway, most people will probably not bother much and so it's just me being a bit OCD about looks π

From your list, a Bernard Edwards, Louis Johnson and Timmy C sig bass would be very, very tempting. I've just lost out on a great looking Stingray Special in natural here on BC, so I am definitely interested in getting a natural one. What I have seen so far, EBMM's sig basses are all for living artists. Therefore, out of the three, for obvious reasons, only a Timmy C icon series sig bass may happen. Would love to get a natural Stingray Special HH with black hardware. I think that's a great combination. It has been on my wishlist since I first saw it being featured in this PG rig rundown (from 06:55):

As I always say, there is a golden rule in life: only ever sell a Spector to finance another one π
-
@Al Krow - I think this is what's called a "leading question" π
-
Good idea. Please buy one. You can then sell it to me, half-price, and I'll promise not to laugh at you. I will just say "Thank you, Andy. Much appreciated" π

SOLD Spector NS2A (Kramer-era) - **UPGRADED**!
Eldon Tyrell replied to cetera's topic in Basses For Sale
Awesome looking Spector with solid maple wings! I also only heard great things about the SNC-Haz that gets you super close to the sound of the Haz 9V for a fraction of the price. I mentioned in another thread that I have maxed out my credit card for this month, so I am out out until the 14th. I am sure it will be gone by then but if not, then I may get tempted π Β£800 is a ridiculously low price for such such a killer package. It is pretty much a NS-2 for less than what people charge for an used Euro! GLWTS π -
@Al Krow - Unfortunately (or fortunately for you), I have maxed out my credit card for this month. I also put in an offer for another bass by a fellow BCer and have to hope now that no one makes him a better offer until the 14th or I am out. So, you have until the 14th to close the deal on the BB1200s because then I'll be back π

An 1200s in good condition? Now we are talking. Very tempting. Could always buy it and get it refinished in metallic red π

Peter Hook Interview/Gear Guide/Signature Bass
Eldon Tyrell replied to madshadows's topic in General Discussion
Agree, a solid finish would have been much better! -
Wow, the neck on the natural Stingray looks killer. Unfortunately, BFR means that it will be out of my price range. Great to see that most of the Cliff Williams signature Stingray have sold! Over at TB, there has been a heated debate (19 pages and counting!) including several haters. I don't get it. Yes, $7k is a lot of money but is it a limited edition (26 in total), a lot of hard work and effort went into producing it, it clearly is not targeting the mass market and, most importantly, "All proceeds from the sale of this Cliff Williams Icon series bass will be donated to The American Alzheimerβs Association Gulf Coast Chapter who provides support and resources for those living with or caring for someone with Alzheimer's or other dementias." I think it's great and I hope EBMM will release some more models in their icon series!

Peter Hook Interview/Gear Guide/Signature Bass
Eldon Tyrell replied to madshadows's topic in General Discussion
Sound Control is also the place I bought my first ever bass, a Warwick Corvette Std. I still have it (just out of nostalgia) but the neck and truss rod are toasted. I mentioned it in the Yamaha BB mega-thread as well: I think it sounds great (judging from the videos I have watched so far) but I am not sure alder is the right choice for a translucent finish. It will need quite some shopping around to find a nice looking one. The one below shows the three pieces and how they don't match up nicely. I know, I know, I am a bit picky when it comes to these things π -
Maybe it is only a limited edition in the US. Neither PM nor GuitarGuitar mention anything about it being limited. The price (Β£899/Β£999) does not scream "limited edition" to me either. https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/201118364031025--yamaha-bb-peter-hook-signature

Here you can see the three pieces and how they don't match up properly π

First demo and review of Hooky's signature bass. Sounds all good to me. Not so sure about the finish though. Looks like a translucent finish, which can be great, but I am not sure alder is the right wood for that kind of finish. I guess one would have to shop around to find a nice looking one. For example, the ones shown in the PMT video and the review video below did not look great in my opinion. I guess I am just spoiled by my Spector basses π

PMT is listing it (pre-order): Hand Signed Yamaha Peter Hook Signature BB Bass Guitar | PMT Online Yamaha Peter Hook Signature BB Bass Guitar | PMT Online

The day has finally come. Just saw this on Twitter: "Joy Division and New Order changed music, and co-founder and bassist Peter Hook changed bass playing. @YamahaGuitars are proud to celebrate his one-of-a-kind melodic style with the new Peter Hook Signature BB." Earlier, Peter tweeted: "I will then be going live on Instagram at 6pm for a chat with my son @Jack_Bass_ to discuss - join us then if you like, here: http://instagram.com/jackbates_music " I'll be there π

The end is nigh πΏ -
Yes, the third one is a bit more difficult to get into. However, it still does have some great songs such as "We are", "Aeons", "Sky Machine", "Alpha Omega" and "Eidolon". I especially like this version of "We are" (starts at 1:12):
-
Sure, my fav is Sound Awake. Killer album. You can check it out here:
-
Yes, really hope so. The tour is called "The Regeneration Tour". Let's hope that this is the name of the new album. 8 years (if released in 2021) is a very long time, but, hey it took Tool 13 years, so maybe we all should just be a bit more patient π

Bought a ticket for their show in London on Sep 30, 2021. Hope an effective vaccine will be available by then. Killer band π -
Andertons also has some very good deals, including this one they previously offered for the amazing discount of 6 quid. Maybe someone at Andertons is checking out BC? π
