  1. Right time of the year to enjoy this classic from 93. Wait, that's 30 years ago!! Man, time flies 😞
  2. I know Spector started with natural wood finishes back in 77 (walnut wings) and in the 90s started with all the fancy wood tops (buckeye burl etc.). However, for me the black and white gloss ones are still my absolute favs, esp. Eddie's black one and Mike Starr's white one. BTW, in case some of you haven't done so, check out PJ Rubal's (Spector's former VP) website that features his basses from all pre-Korg eras (i.e., Brooklyn, Kramer, SSD and Woodstock): https://vintagespector.com/index.html I think he must have one, if not the largest collection of Spector basses, probably closely followed by our very own @cetera 🙂
  3. If your budget is not enough for a NS-2, here are some gloss black alternatives: Spector Euro 4 Classic in black for £2.6k https://www.thomann.de/gb/spector_euro_4_classic_solid_black.htm Spector Ian Hill Signature bass 50th anniversary for £2k. Great price but the JP inlay is a bit of an eyesore. Sorry, JP fans 😉 https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/spector-euro-4-limited-edition-ian-hill-black-gloss/
  4. Same here. Check out this headless guy and his great take on two of my fav QR songs. Sounds killer! Kramer era NS-2 in gloss black. Man, that's the bass to have (and my black Forte was modelled on it, incl. the thinner neck specs, just without the inlays and with black hardware instead of gold).
  5. Also check out his Spector sound on Enter Sandman on the Black album (isolated bass track from 3:06). Cool stuff.
  6. It now says "pending" (and it is not me). Did one from here get it? If yes, then congrats! You scored the Spector deal of the century. A NS-2 (EMG Xs, Haz 9V, gloss finish) sans crown inlays in mint condition (at least when I sold it 4 months ago, home use only) for £2k? 2k?!? That's less than what a Euro costs and not much more than a Korean made Dimension. Man, as I said, deal of the century!
  7. Really? Maybe a tiny, tine bit at the very beginning (Queensrÿche EP and The Warning) but later albums? For example, Operation Mindcrime (BTW, one of the best concept albums of all time, in my humble opinion) does not sound anything like IM. Check out my favourite Valentine's Day song as an example 😉
  8. The bass that probably started it all in 78 (or at least one of the very early reverse P ones) Followed in 79 by the ultimate reverse P (J) bass - Spector's NS-2 (here a Euro Mike Starr from 2015)
  9. I recently bought a pedal from Ben. Nice and smooth transaction. Quick delivery and well packed. Great stuff 👍
  10. Ok Hope you'll enjoy your new Ricky/Wicky 👍
  11. Ok, but what is the connection between Wicky Wacker and Rickenbacker? Are Rickenbacker players known to like the Wiki Wacker cocktail an/or silly straw hats?
  12. What does that mean? When I google for wicky/wiki wacker, it only shows me a cocktail and people wearing silly straw hats. The other hit I get is "The Wiki Wacker is a consumable item available from Luau Larry for 5 Red Beans. It temporarily increases attack damage. Also distorts screen and automatically induces dance emote when used while standing still." 🤪
  13. Andy's shop has some really nice and tempting basses. They ain't cheap though. I like the very detailed and sometimes lengthy descriptions (inc. what is original, what has been replaced, weight and dates of pots, neck etc), which is crucial for buying expensive vintage basses. So, looks like a great store for buying vintage basses, but way above my pay grade 😉
  14. I agree. If the seller is legit and has not done something silly to the bass in the short time they owned it, then this really is an amazing deal. Almost too good to be true (and if something sounds too good to be true, it normally is too good to be true).
  15. That used to be mine. Got it in April 21 and sold it via BB this August. Home use only (at least when I owned it). I only sold it as I had some unexpected bills (roof and gutter repairs) and an expensive new remortgage deal. It's a 2021 Spector Forte in gloss black. It is one of the last Fortes before Spector stopped making them (of course they can be ordered now but as NS2s for much more money). It is also one of the very few ones they made in a gloss finish. £2000 is a great price. BB sold it for £2650. If my 74 Fender P sells, I may be tempted to buy it back myself!
  16. Thanks, quite a complex arrangement that gives players lots of tonal flexibility. Cool stuff. Just wished they had included a passive tone control for the passive mode as well (e.g., the treble knob could have acted as a tone control in passive mode).
  17. Man, this bass has one of the best looking finishes I've seen in a very long time. Very tempting 😍 Quick question about the passive mode. As far as I understand it, by pulling one of the volume knobs, the corresponding pickup is soloed (i.e., the other is de-activated) and the bass becomes passive. By pulling both volume knobs, both pickups are engaged in passive mode. Does one of the bass/treble/mid EQ knobs then turn into a passive tone control? I could not find any info on that but it would make sense to have such a config. GLWTS 👍
  18. Makes me want to get hold of the old Ian Hill signature bass (the PJ version) 🙂
  19. Looks killer. Enjoy 👍
  20. Just watched this interview with Doug Wimbish. Talking about his signature model, Doug mentioned "now we are looking at making some modifications and moving downfield with some other frequencies for this particular bass and other. Let's just say Doug Wimbish ideas...Should be cool". Let's see what they will come up with!
