Go to the top of the page to My Assistant. Then when the box comes up click search. Type in what you are looking for, and off you go.
And what would I be looking for...? G

I love Polar Bear. Really great music. G

Hey man, Sounds good. My only gripe with the recording is the guitar tuning.... The first dozen chords are a little brutal, could just be intonation but sadly it ruins it for me a little. I also agree that a little reverb would go a long way to tame the room down but, I am sure you will get on top of this as you progress and get to know it better. G

95% of instruments will get you 95% the way there if you have the ability. If you want the additional 5% you better be prepared to search for it, wait for it or pay for it but, once you find it, you wont look back. This statement is true of pro audio, studio gear, basses, guitars, amps, kitchens, holidays, food etc.... etc..... etc..... G

I was recording a school battle of the bands gig last week (dont ask... needs must and times are tough...) for a whole bunch of schools in Edinburgh and, whist I agree with some of the points, those kids played and performed to a level that would put most of the old farts playing in the local pubs to shame. I had no affiliation with any the kids but it dawned at me that little things, like parts learned exactly as they are on the record (complete with all the funny intricate rhythmic variations), were nailed whilst, back to the pub bands, you will be lucky if you even recognize what they are doing.... Just throwing it out there... G
Meanwhile the ability of a decent engineer & a Pro Tools expert means that a lot of stuff can be 'fixed in the mix' and there are some musicians recording stuff that's not well played, or even remotely in time, but that can be made to sound great after some serious processing.
Been there done it. At this stage it is damage limitation. Auto-tune, heavy editing, quantizing, all that stuff leaves nasty artifacts and fingerprints that never go away. Lets also be clear that all these things were possible with analog albeit slower. Pitch shifting and tape slicing...
when you have a lad that clicks a mouse button to add room ambience, over simply moving the Mic,you have a problem
I fully agree. I hate fighting with things when I mix. The better I record things the less time i need to agonize over things later. Get it right at source and it is right. G
Its amazing for mastering....it saves time, but if you cant mic properly..play in time...tune up ...without digital assistance,WITHOUT the ability to do such a thing without un-natural aid..learning the intricacies of a room, the way a mic...even mics of the same brand ,behave....do you really think that digital is going to fix that?.
Mastering should be a real time process and is the only part of the production process I, personally, would like the processing 100% analogue. And, as far as I am concerned (22 year old full time professional engineer) to say digital is bad an analog is good is like saying a stool is good and a sofa is bad. Functionally they do the same thing (a storage medium) and are, IMHO, the least important factor in recording. IMHO it goes like this: -Musician -Instrument -Room -Mic -Pre amp -Converter (Tape can be substituted here) -DAW The first 4 substantially affect the sound you are tracking. The later 3 are subtle and, in some cases, questionable. I am really into this stuff and feel I am misreading your posts so, if you want to discuss this further, drop me a PM. G
Save time, save effort, save your sanity.... Save money and buy custom!
Totally, Imagine how many hours you are about to sink into getting back to square 1 (where you are now)... Now, imagine investing that time into improving your existing technique? G -
Got an excellent condition pair of Alesis M1 MkII speakers and a rock solid HH (1u) Power amp for sale (the amp used to be OBBM's if anyone cares). Speakers owned from new (under a year old) and used in non smoking home studio. Power amp must be 10-15 years old but is as solid as a rock and takes up only 1u of rack space (150w, 75 per channel). Bargain price for a good home studio monitoring set up. Looking to shift asap as these have now been replaced with another set of speakers. Collection from Edinburgh or local delivery wanted but will ship at a push. Cheers G

I have the L2007 limiter and have dabbled with all the rest. But, any review I will give is redundant in that they are all available for FREE usable download. Some little features are disabled but they function fully. Try them, for what they cost no one in their right mind could possibly be dissapointed. The L2007 is a cracking limiter with lots of nice features but and sound very transparant for mastering applications. Go, you owe it to yourself. G
