the problem with Lidl is they never restock those offers... the shops get only a few each and when they're gone they're gone... I went after a multi-folding ladder at 11 on the morning of the offer opening once and they'd all gone... 24th March... that's the bank holiday Monday... I'll be waiting for the doors to open at my local branch...

Is it worth trying to sell cheap basses on this site?
As for the profile-yes, of course I will, but having only registered yesterday and then spent a rainy day having to entertain my young daughter, I never got any further than signing up!
ah... you have one of those... they destroy free time... but in an enjoyable way (except clearing up after them) both mine are grown up now... 23 & 20 this year... the eldest has two little ones... ah, payback is sweet... -
Hi all. I've just been introduced to Basschat, and after looking at the For Sale section, I wonder if it's worth trying to sell a couple of basses I have in my possession on here or not. They belong to a New Zealander who's gone back home and asked me to sell his gear if I can: an Epiphone EB3 and a five string Vintage V950B, neither of which is going to get pulses racing. Having tried all local sources I'm a bit stuck-and I'm not going to register on e-bay just to get rid of someone else's gear. Any thoughts appreciated.
you have a strange definition of "cheap" I just bought a V950B via this forum two months ago and I certainly do not consider the bass to be cheap... neither do I consider an Epi EB3 to be cheap... a "cheap" bass to me is an Encore or other made in China starter bass... something you would have a hard time shifting in here... it would be easier to shift one of those by just taking it round to cack-converters (or similar)... and taking whatever you can haggle them up to... ps. It's considered polite to fill out your personal profile -
Not read it yet, but Im sure it demonstrates Leo Fender got it right 1st time, and even more right the 2nd time with the Jazz! I have only recently realised what a profound a change must have occurred when the electric bass guitar got hold in the 50's. David H
it is a pity the jazz world hasn't gotten over it's snobbish disdain for the Electric Bass then...
Hi I want to use a program to alter the pitch and then save it as a mp3 to put on to my bass trainer any ideas? Thanks
Bestpractice to change pitch and save to .wav lame -h input.wav output.mp3 then run Lame in command line mode on the .wav to convert it to MP3 http://www.gnuware.com/icecast/chap_04_03.html simple command of : lame -h input.wav output.mp3 change input and output to whatever you need get Lame from here: http://www.free-codecs.com/Lame_Encoder_download.htm (the above isn't an official download link, those can't distribute any method of encoding higher than 128bps as it would be an infringement of some stupid patent)

lately I have been mostly fighting my way through "Stormy Monday"... both 'versions'... (Albert King does a completely different bassline for the song) having gotten "Thrill is Gone", "Crossroads", and "Born Under a Bad Sign" well and truly grooved into my system I'm working on getting more standards under my belt so I can hold my end up in jam sessions back in my Punk days, things were a blind panic to try and keep up with the changes which could be totally at random... My weekly thing though is all fresh and I have about 5 new songs to get done every week for the Sunday service... it doesn't help that most of them I've only got sheet to go by and no tracks available to play alongside of... Things can be real fun when our congregation doesn't know the tune either...

a couple of these, one either side of the stage won't cost the earth either... http://www.bksound.co.uk/product.asp?P_ID=1268 -
"December 63 (Oh What a Night)" by the Four Seasons was the song for me... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liyiT_DGREA other stuff had tickled my bass buds before but that bouncy line just did it... mind you, I did have a spell playing bass in a punk band just hammering out whatever notes I was told to play... but the pure bouncy line has always cast a spell over me...
I think I was stood a bit too far away, with my rig blocked by the guitarist.
that's your problem... you let a guitarist get in between you and your rig... guitarists are very dense and block sound very well... you may find this amusing, but our church has just put in a new PA and dedicated a channel for me so now I can get away with pointing my 10 watt practice amp at my head as a monitor and letting the PA do the rest... and I play right next to the drummer... (Olly, the drummer, can actually play quietly... he's a marvel... no you can't have him...)

What's the bets that in a few years time, if not sooner, someone will pass that one off on an unsuspecting punter as a real Fender? I hate it when they stick a Fender decal on the headstock... ps. I'm relicing my VMJ the proper way... over several years...
Since this happened, someone has set up an email account in the name of our manager and has emailed every venue confirmed on our 2008 Gig List and told them that. as the band has split up, we will be honouring none of the dates. Coincidence? I think bloody not.
take legal advice NOW...

one that hasn't had any love in the shop and they don't give a ... just want to get rid of it and also have the cheek to want you to buy new strings too... the strings that come with it are Fender strings... they're fine when they are cared for... nothing special though... I suspect this bass has been there for some time and no-one's been cleaning the strings after they've been used...
Some of you may have seen this piece before by Steve Albini (Nirvana producer): http://www.mercenary.com/probwitmusby.html Probably best not to read it if you're young & dreaming of being 'signed' & becoming rich & famous.
that needs to be in a sticky...

the problem is the specific things to look out for now are so well documented that it can't be that difficult to forge them... especially as the prices are so stupid now there's a lot to be made with a good forgery...
Or if someone can explain why there are so many basses on offer and so few buyers at the moment that would at least put my mind at rest!
no-one's got any money... I've blown my budget for this year... and if I want something now, I've got to sell something first...

That sucks... a verbal agreement still counts as a contract... however, they know that it would cost you an arm and a leg to take them to court over this and also they get away with it knowing there's loads of bands desperate to play for virtually nothing... in fact, some bands would even pay for the "privilege"...
karafun easy to use change tempo change key FREE
Excellent... it plays .ogg files... something bestpractice currently doesn't do and the author keeps claiming to be getting around to but hasn't so far... It also plays .avis so hopefully I can use it to playback videos and keep the sound running, currently, slowing down DVDs or any video files kills the sound... Now to download karafun and see how it runs on Linux using WINE oh b****** it wants DirectX v9.0... well, that's ruled out running it on Linux...
I believe that this would count as a formal raffle and as such there are legal implications. There is always a load of legal jargon on official raffle tickets. Doing it on the day with cloakroom tickets seems to be a way around this. Any legal experts on board?
On the day with cloakroom tickets would be one way of getting more members to turn up... if you're not there, then you can't be in it to win it... with such a big pot of prizes, I'd be well keen to buy a big wodge of tickets on the day... especially as it's payday the day before... I'd be bringing a Bass DVD and a couple of surplus books (with CDs) to chuck into the pot as well...
