  1. One of my fave blues rock bands with an absolute killer.... Then there is this..... Hats off.. https://youtu.be/d9eNyWFT64o
  2. Sonuus Wahoo for me. Does the mutron and cry baby thing, auto wah's and loads more. The bonus is that is is for both bass and guitar.
  3. Off topic, but I just spied a Les Paul Custom on the rack there.......snap.
  4. Can't get enough of them me.......I could sit on one for hours if you let me... About 36.45 for a good ten minutes on this Bootsy badboy🤣 Ooooh and 22.41 on from Prince....very naughty https://youtu.be/EVolCHbpk34 I could go on and on and on and on, so........ Anyone have any others that they could get lost in for ages??
  5. 6.47 to 7.11 I can't explain why but this is one of my most favourite licks ever. Short and damn sweet. Gives me goosebumps. You have to listen to it on a stereo or through headphones to appreciate the pure power of it.....sublime.
  6. Hilarious timing. You beat me to it by a couple of hours......His love songs are epic....
  7. "I'm hooked on you Chocolate Star"..........Gotta love a Bootsy love song.... Solo from 5 mins on. Pure filth. https://youtu.be/kVYwZ1hgNiU
  8. Cordell 'Boogie' Mosson. One of the funkiest of all time..... https://youtu.be/e-VxBaWRzSU
  9. Muzz Skillings. Cracking bass player in a brilliant band......until, bizarrely, Doug Wimbish joined. Didn't like their stuff with him on bass at all. Love Tackhead though
  10. Rob Wright. Absolute genius and all round lovely man. If the vibe is not your thing just forward to about 3 minutes in and check out Rags and Bones....wow.
  11. A hilarious Talkbass member begs to differ.....as do I 😜
  12. Just remembered this off my Blue Break Beats cd (volume 3). Tasty cover is this...... https://youtu.be/fjrNt4L6k-k
  13. Good shout. I love my Thunder II but wow carrying one is hard enough 😂😂.
  14. I have the 1st gen Chinese version and it is exceptional. If it helps (and I don't know how true it is), I have heard that the Indonesian ones are more akin to the vintage modified line (also Indonesian). I have a VM jazz and although it is really very good indeed, it is a step down from the 1st gen classic vibe in my humble opinion.
  15. No browny points for the fiver, but my Gibson Thunderbird is really light, really well balanced and has a lovely slim neck. Just a tweak of the pickup volumes will get you quite a versatile set of tones too. I have no idea why people say the opposite to all of the above - baffles me. Case in point attached. I can get it to do funk wonderfully well (careful as it is a bit sweary) - apparently such behaviour is virtually impossible on a bird...... Dick Shammond Played by a player 26.05.21.mp3
  16. Bootsy's sausage........ err I mean Space Basses
  17. Bought mine in Manchester. Was on offer and I was so excited. A not so lovely black and white Encore P bass. I had it for a few years til the late eighties. Eventually traded it with (or as I like to put it, stole from) Musical Exchanges in brum for a version 3 Thunder II. Wow we're my eyes opened as to how stinky poo that Encore was. Still got and play the Westone. Class bass. Heavy as feck though.
  18. My Thunder II has one. Apparently it was an optional extra on the version 3. I wonder how many others there are??
  19. If its gonna be your only 5er then you may appreciate the versatility of the HH. I bought the Harley Benton Mm85a as a toe dip into both the worlds of 5ers and the stingray vibe. I really don't need any other 5ers (unless I decide to upgrade if I win the lottery) , as it gives me a sound close enough to that classic single H but so much more. I can approximate a Jazz, a P and more, just through the 3 band EQ and the 5 way selector. Spooky magic if you ask me. Best 177 quid I've spent on gear to be fair.
  20. Agree about music connecting, and understand why someone would want to go out, have a few bevs and dance their head off to a load of ska covers for example, so I wasn't really commenting on the originals vs covers debate. I have done both and get a buzz from both too. A good cover however should possess an element of the players soul (or conductor in the case of classical - I am sorry but I do see many classical players as mere conduits for expression by a conductor), therefore transforming it to some degree. I would not really want to see someone else's paint by numbers picture, but would happily do one myself to alleviate boredom in private if I felt so inclined. I do take on board that she does embellish her covers, so for this I do stand mistaken. It would be great for me if she used her platform to show us something a little more personal though
  21. Call me out if I am being unfair here, and sure she can play, but is it not a rather pointless waste of talent to simply play other people's stuff? I know people will say yes but she is being paid now and getting gear etc. But the question remains can she - and indeed any of these you tube copiers - be anywhere near as creative as those she is mimicking??
