A bit in the same ballpark: 2003 body, new fretless neck, gotoh bridge, upgraded pickups. Scratch plate was on it when I bought the body. Seems to be identical to Darryl Jones's. Makes me like it even more.

I just bought an Ampeg Micro CL. It's not a combo, but it's small and plenty loud for home practice and smallish rehearsals. It's got a headphones out and aux in. Very, very happy with it.

Only works on nitro finishes, apparently. Personally wouldn't try it on anything expensive enough to be nitro finished.

I own a swamp ash V7 and an alder P7 and they're both great. Just get what you like the look of - and ask yourself how much money 'better looking' is worth to you 😉

I saw a second hand SRH500F on Belgian ebay the other day for 400 euros. Now sold, however, but if that's what they're going for, it's a great deal.

I just got a fretless Sire V7 fretless 5string last week. Maple neck. It's great, wholly recommended. There's some fretless MIM Fenders to be found second hand as well, I think.
