By that I mean he has several BB2000 rather than a BB2000s!
-
Unusual colour isn’t it. The neck pup sounds particularly good so it’s going to be the P to my 1100s J. Did you contact the seller about it as well Andy? Was a Gumtree ad. I spoke to him on the phone and it sounded like he was winding down his playing. He also mentioned “my BB2000s” which is tantalising!

This feels like the best £350 I’ve spent in a long while. BB450 in coffee burst from a guy in Tyne and Wear. Immaculate condition (has an Omega bridge not the original sadly) and with a new set of La Bella black tape wounds sounds incredible to my ears. Even got a non OEM hard case. Old BBs are just brilliant value (not that anyone here needs convincing)

Thanks for all the info. I’m going to take a look at it tomorrow. Agree that wiring channel looks odd. I suspect the owner won’t know too much about it because of the bass’s age.

thanks... stripped back look really appeals to me and seller is clearly a bass player rather than a ‘look what I found in the attic’ eBayer
-
Yes! What do you think?

Seen a Fernandes jazz on eBay that I love the look of. It’s a ‘stone logo’ from 79-80 apparently... know nothing about them. He’s asking £600, but open to offers. I’ll try to play it first if I can obviously but I’d be interested if anyone has any thoughts

Thanks for the replies. Under no illusion I’m buying a collectible bass just want a solid jazz with ‘that’ tone. As someone said if I’m not getting on with it in 6 months I’ll sell it on.

Yeah think it is only string through but that doesn’t worry me overmuch. It’s also got a white scratch plate which looks pants with the sunburst IMO but easily swapped out

I’ve got an opportunity to buy a US standard Jazz 1997 for £650 - £700. Sunburst, RW neck, Fender case and looks good barring a few dings in the body. Seems like a deal for a great workhorse. Any thoughts on the price or things to look out for when I get to inspect it? Thanks

Is this a bit of a bargain?

Yeah, I’d prefer to buy one on here. I love the one that Taz is selling... stripped back to natural finish, tort plate, but he’s firm at £1200 and not sure I can bring myself to spend that on a JV. -

Hi @ash as someone who’s interested in a jv jazz, but has never played one can you tell me a bit about the neck profile please? I’m used to the modern C shape so wondering if the 62 profile will feel ‘fat’ or more like a P just narrower? Thanks -

True, the depth of knowledge on here is terrifying. Eg: I’ll think you’ll find Fender began using left hand threaded screws in Autumn 1972 on models with a 5 in the serial number.... -

That's true of course and a huge problem with buying stuff on eBay - particularly at the moment - is not being able to hold the thing and give it a thorough looking over. I'd be the first to admit I would have no idea if a bass was 100 per cent original. Guess that's why I love buying stuff here where every experience I've had has been good and you definitely get the feeling no one is going to dud you. -

Surely, there are times when a good investment is also a good, playable bass. At, say £750, I’d have no hesitation playing this jv and the fact it’s appreciating at the same time is just a bonus. -

Seems like a bit of a deal given the way JV prices are headed, but perhaps others may disagree. Suspect it hasn’t sold because it’s hard to find on search. CIJ instead of JV in title etc. I’m NOT the seller and have no interest in the sale obvs!
