  1. Sadly not for me then … but lovely looking instrument for what seems like a very reasonable price
  2. Bit of an anorak question (but of interest to me) is it D or E flat at the heel? Thanks
  3. Something very appealing about this… lovely, played in look….
  4. https://www.interviewmagazine.com/culture/eric-andres-tortured-relationship-with-the-upright-bass kinda, amusing… he’s trying to be funny obviously, but also knows his way around DB. Not often the instrument hits mainstream pop culture in such detail.
  5. I guess the real mark of a Bass Chatter is how they respond when something isn't right. I sold Clarky my avri jazz and a mistake (my mistake) in the listing meant it was too heavy for him. I was mortified I'd got it wrong, but Clarky managed (after some ups and downs) to sell the bass. I really appreciate his straightforward approach to what was at times a frustrating experience. Top man.
  6. Power your pedals in style. Here's the blurb. The Strymon Ojai Power Supply is a stroke of genius from Strymon. This diddy little power supply delivers a massive 500mA of current through each of its five low-noise outputs. This lets your pedals reach their full potential, reaching their highest dynamic range. High-quality overdrives sing with the Ojai Power Supply giving them a boost! A super-cool feature of the Ojai is the 24V In/Through input and output, turning it into a modular unit that can be daisy-chained as much as you want- so those of us with huge pedalboards will never run out of outputs. If you want a compact pedalboard power supply that just happens to be one of the finest examples of modern engineering on the market, look no further than the Strymon Ojai power supply. Currently selling for circa £140 .. this is £60 posted within the UK. Please note I only have 2x pedal cable as seen in the pictures. Additional cables are available.
  7. Now £45 inc postage. One strap to rule them all. I imported this lovely Italia strap from the US where they retail for $120. It's the Standard Model: Adjusts 37-49 inches and it's 4 inches wide. Chocolate brown leather on the outside and a sweat wicking amber suede on the inside. Imagine the admiring glances you'l get when you attach this bad boy to your 4-string. I've just sold my last electric bass (DB all the way now) so this is surplus to requirements unless I keep it on the shelf and run my hand along it's magnificent surfaces now and then. But that would be weird. Anyway, it's in almost new condition and £45 gets it posted to a UK address.
  8. For sale an AVRI '62 jazz bass from 1992. I bought the bass from another player because I love this colour combination and this particular bass has some wonderful mojo. Not the artificial kind - the real, played a lot, lived a lot kind. There's an indent above the rear pickup where someone's thumbnail has dug in for gig after gig. There's a belt rash patch on the rear and a fine selection of dings on the bottom edge. The bass itself feels and plays brilliantly. The pups are loud and expressive and the lovely, dark fingerboard feels effortless. The bass is wearing Thomastik Infeld flats with plenty of life in them. The hardcase is not a Fender case, but is sturdy and in reasonable shape. This was the bass - to use the cliche - I thought I'd never sell, but I've discovered DB and don't want to play anything else (until I do and will have to buy another electric. Sigh). Serial number is V059014. The bass is in South Somerset, but I do come up to London fairly frequently so I could bring it to central London. Obviously I'd prefer the buyer to try it before they collect it, but if that's impossible I'm open to the idea of getting a bass box and letting them organise a courier collection. This really is a lovely bass, hope someone gives her a good home. NB: is it all orginal? I believe so, but haven't owned it from new. There's nothing that looks like a replacement part to my eyes. Weight? circa 3.9kg on the kitchen scales. Frets? Great condition. No trades thanks.
  9. Thanks for the explanation
  10. Hi, coming to this very late, but was interested in your comment about needing ‘good pre-amps’ with the AER. I was under the impression that amps like this (acoustic image for eg) obviated the need for a pre-amp… that you could run a Realist or the like straight into it. Be curious to hear your thoughts as I’m using an AI Focus to amp a DB without pre-amp. Could I do better with a Fishman pre? Thanks
  11. I'm a DB newbie (about 8 months in). One point my teacher made fairly early is that I was plucking the strings too hard. I guess I wanted to be Paul Chambers in a hurry. Once I eased off on the right hand a bit my ability to play for longer increased substantially. Just a thought. The DB is a wonderful thing .. glad you've started the journey
  12. For sale or trade (for a decent French grip bow). I've decided French grip suits me best so these two bows are surplus to requirements. The cheaper one (£50) has no maker's stamp, but is wooden (I honestly can't say if it's brazilwood or pernambuco, but it's clearly not a high-end bow). The better bow (IMO) is stamped Guasti & Bottoni (some stuff online) and has lovely pearl inlays and is pernambuco. I'm asking £100 for this. The only issue with this bow is a part of the small white piece of plastic at the tip is missing. I'd generally expect people to want to try bows before they buy them and that's possible in Somerset (TA11) or London (EC2Y), although I'm in Somerset more than London. If you need dimensions, weight etc please let me know. I'd really like to exchange one or both of these for a French bow, so if you're up for that please let me know, thanks
  13. Great condition head which is about 1.5 years old and has never been gigged (sadly). Has 2x TonePrint channels allowing you to download TC Electronics compressor etc. I can mail this at buyer's cost or collect (ideally) from South Somerset or London by arrangement. NB: the Barefaced cab is sold, sorry.
  14. I think I owned this for a while…. Incredible bass. Hands down the most handsome P I ever laid my hands on.
  15. This is the best condition example in the world …. ….. because they’ve examined all the others.
  16. My understanding is that Fender employed an Australian at its plant in the early 1990s. ‘Skip’ Arthur always attached his neck plates upside down as a subtle tribute to his homeland. Either that or my tech put it back the wrong way when he adjusted the truss and I didn’t notice.
