Cheers for your replies ... yeah I used to go to live music for my previous guitars, but my mate had a bad experience with the new tech there recently, so was just finding out if there was anywhere people recommended or anywhere where people had bad experiences so I can avoid!
-
Congrats and good luck for Friday fella!
-
Hey everyone! This question is for anyone who has had their bass set-up in Edinburgh! ... where do you go? And is there anywhere I should really avoid?! Cheers! Tom
-
yeah defo have to agree that the recording isn't very good, just really a way of getting the songs down! Glad you liked the content though! shall have to try and re-record at some point with some better equipment!! Cheers for the comments!
Good effort - very Opeth - I was waiting to hear the vocal..... I enjoyed the solo too.
Ha ha, my normal vocals aren't very good let alone trying to roar! lol Glad you liked it will work on them tho, and maybe record the vocals too!

Simple, cheap straplocks. No screws needed. £4
silky13 replied to solo4652's topic in Accessories and Misc
Yeah I use these too! the only problem I had was my jackson had gigantic buttons, which meant i couldnt get the locks on! But they work fine! also agree with the point of view that if one fails the guitar is still on the strap! -
I like that!
2x 4x10s are too heavy! Dog and Duck? Next Saturday - but I won't be using this rig. This is my bedroom rig.
I didn't think it was ridiculous until that comment! ... This is my bedroom rig ha ha ha ... cool rig though... wish I'd got 2 2x10cabs ... 4x10 is just too bulky and heavy to be able to do by yourself!

hey everyone! Just to let you know I've put a new recording on my myspace .... www.myspace.com/silky13music ... the new song is "prototype" (im sorry had run out of inspiraton for a name!) Its pretty cool... if you knew I like Opeth and Porcupine tree, you might tell where most of my inspiration came from!! The guitar solo is really sweet IMO, fits really well! Cheers, Tom p.s. I did everything so you can blame me for everything

hello from the East!

another one for Pat Badger! Seen Extreme on the last tour and he was great, so tight, just what the band needs! as for my personal underrated band... Symphony X (my favourite band) and they're current bassist Mike Lepond ... I've only seen them twice, because they're not big enough to do a full headline tour of UK, but each time they were amazingly tight, while putting on an awesome show! Better than Dream Theater IMO! Oh and of course my current band is far too underrated

Bought a rack compressor off Oli, was a great fella to deal with and it all seems to work fine so I'm very happy! Cheers!

What do you play if you're trying a bass in a music shop?
silky13 replied to molan's topic in General Discussion
+2 on the bass check I always spend ages trying out basses, I like to have a good look around it to make sure it looks good and is good quality, then play the open strings a bit, then usually play a few warm up exercises that are difficult to see what the neck is like and how comfortable the guitar is to play. Then I play some basic bass lines, while changing the tone settings. That way i know it's going to suit what i play in the band. Then finally i have fun and play some metal tunes like Wrathchild and Peace Sells so I know i can play the stuff i like to play at home! But like what's been said before it didn't take me long at all to fall in love with my current bass... I loved the finish and as soon as i picked it up it felt right! -
ditto!! I've just added you! Gotta stick together! Tom

Yo Dudes and Dudesses... Just thought I'd let you know of a gig my band is doing in a couple of weeks on 31st January in Edinburgh. We are supporting a really great Classic rock cover band Strange Brew @ the Ark in Edinburgh! Tickets are £5 available from me or www.tickets-scotland.com My bands myspace: www.myspace.com/alexrech Strange Brew website: www.strangebrewrock.com Be nice to see some of yous there! Cheers, Tom

ah right cool its sorted! I would've lent you my Jackson KBX, but it would sound guff recorded im sure... my p-bass is too precious... dont let anyone play it, no i lie i let the gf hold it for a minute but she said it was too heavy! oh and forgot to mention, give me a shout when you're in edin and maybe we could go for a pint or something!
-
hey mate! What recording studios are you going to?!
-
mmm that is a lovely collection... the burst on the second from right is a lovely colour! Yeah wish my missus like that! she still looks at me funny when I mention the want for another bass!
-
I like all the tunes mate! ... all nice a chilled, not my usual taste, but I like a bit of everything! I really like superstar... it reminds me of spin doctors for some reason!
-
Yo guys, how is it going? Thought I'd upload the rough recording I've done of a new song I wrote over christmas to see what you thought! Hope you like it! like I've said the recording is rough, but I didnt think it sounded too bad! Also I did all the parts, so for the dodgy drums and guitar solo you can blame me! I didn't bother chancing my luck at the singing! Any comments welcome! Cheers! Tom
-
wow!! That is lovely!!
-
I dont know whether its a case of being better than anyone else or what. It isnt a measurable thing. The way I look at it, its knowing and being able to play what is good for the song and putting on a good show that makes you a good bass player! If you're enjoying it the Audience probably are too! ... and if they're not then thats hard luck, at least you are!
-
Oh yes, I like them! I absolutely love how deep the finish looks on the GB!
-
thanks very much for the offer mate! But unfortunately Edinburgh is a few miles away from Bristol!
