Very helpful guy, sold me some leads in march '09 and was a very smooth and efficient process. Top Guy. Sorry for the late feedback, Robin
  6. Andy offered me a Wireless last February at a crazy low price, and then, after sending it, and giving me some advice on setting it up, refused for me to pay him, becuase the power supply he'd told me before was slightly dogey, was very slightly dodgey (still going strong though). A true gent and a very helpful and kind guy. Sorry for the late feedback, Robin

  11. I was really surprised reading this thread. I have a Boss drum machine (can't remember the model right now) which i think is early nineties and it tracks bass/guitar to midi. Has a small but noticeable amount of delay, and is monophonic, but tracks down to an open E atelast (didn't have a 5 string last time i tried). Got it off ebay a few years ago for £40. I guess it's not as compact, but it's hardly the selling point of the unit, more a little feature. it has audio and midi outs, and allows you to record midi loops etc on the fly fairly easily. Just didn't realise this sort of this was so saught after. Robin
  12. Well, i'm not too worried about the wiring as i can always go through it when i get it and check it all out (done abit myself and know some very good electrician/musicians), and i'm fairly used to heavey basses (both my bubinga Schacka nd my warmoth are pretty monstrous) althoughw as thinking a light one would be a nice change, i guess i'm just a sucker for bubinga and dark solid woods. Most concerning comment to me made so far was that it had a very 'rock' sound. What do you mean by this? I play everything from jazz to funk to brazilean to metal, so it needs to be flexible (although i am hoping to upgrade atleast the p pickup pretty soon after getting it). THanks for all the input, Robin
  13. Hi, i'm looking to buy a fairly cheap 5 string to add to my herd for songs that warrant it (and don't want a fretles) and so that i have a cheaper bass that i worry about a bit less. I've got around £200 at the moment. Looking for either P/j, soapbars or p/MM pups. Was concidering various options, and am now looking into getting a second hand Vintage V950, with the idea of upgrading th pups and preamp with time. Does anyone have any experience with this bass? is it well built? What's the spacing like? I was surprised that a solid bubinga body could be so cheap. How heavy are they etc? Thanks Robin
  14. Nice amp, is the speaker 4 ohm?
  15. I've only had one experience with them, but it was good. I was after a set of acoustic bass strings before i went back to uni, and thought it was a highstreet shop aswell and phoned up to get the address (couldn't find it on google maps but knew it was nearby in plymouth), tunred out they're mail order only, but the guy drove out to my house within the hour and gave me the strings free of charge because i needed them that day. Couldn't be happier, some good prices also.
  16. Price cut, £925 including TKL soft case.
  17. thanks BB, Here's some of my bass:
  18. Thanks guys, have updated my profile, and will take better pics tonight hopefully.
  19. After some consultation and deliberation, feeler re-extended regarding my Schack U4 Basic. Solid Bubinga body, maple/ebony neckw ith schack no bolds heel joint (uniquely contoured). Basstec jazz pups, schack 18v dipswitched 3 band EQ. Schack 3D adjustable bridge. Black hardware. Beautiful bass, hand made in Germany. Original price £1450. Only cosmetic wear to tone nobs, but small paint job would fix this with ease. Plays great, sounds great, only selling due to GAS for a 5 string version. Is identical to the bass below, but without red finish and maple body. £925 including TKL softcase
  20. Hi, basically, i'm in the market for selling one of my basses as i really want a 5 string version of a very similar bass which is on sale second hand in a local shop. However when i asked how much they wanted to mark up the price in trade (which i asssumed wouldn't be much as they're not losing out, and i think they were fairly similar value new), they wanted a fairly conciderable sum of money on top of my 4 string. Due to this, i put a feeler out for my 4 string on here, but didn't know where to pitch the price, and after going just abit higher than what the shop offered me for it, i did some research and took some advice from another poster that i was selling a high end bass at nearly half it's orignal value, and am now rethinking what i'm asking for the bass. This prompted my main question: What percentage of value should you sell a used bass at? Obviously different models and levels of customisation hold value better or worse, and condition is a factor, but for an average high end, (say over £750), known bass, in good condition (no chips etc.), what would you resell it at? Just interested in your opinions, Robin
  21. Reconcidering feeler and price.
