  1. It still sounds such a good bassline, the perfect example of serving the song.
  2. Thanks a lot Phil, much appreciated. I'm not obsessed about tone either, I love getting a good sound and feeling the trousers flap but I'm not good enough to be that fussy. I'm just looking for something that's portable, sounds good with a nice rounded low mid sound and has enough power to handle some gigs with a modest drummer. I love a bit of DIY so this sounds right up my street!
  3. I’m thinking of building one of these cabs and wondered if it will handle the Motown/Stax sounds I play on my P bass with flats - that flattish eq but with the low mids boosted? Or would the traditional 15” speaker be a better option? I bought a set of Bill Fitzmaurice’s simplexx 15 plans a while back which look great and was thinking about building that, but the simple 12 would be a much more straightforward and cheaper build.
  4. No problem thanks for the update 😀
  5. Hi @ped, have cleared all cookies and re-logged back in and this is what i'm seeing by default when I view the amps and cabs forum which I'm not sure is any different. If I change the view to Sort By Start Date that works absolutely fine.
  6. Looking fantastic well done, been really enjoying seeing the updates. When I boarded out my detached garage extension (Basically another 4m extension on the end) I used battened the brick walls with 2x1 and screwed 75mm PIR insulation to the battens, then used foil tape to create the continuous vapour barrier before covering with OSB. I had a double layer of PIR on the ceiling, put 100mm between the ceiling joists, filled in any gaps with expanding foam and then overlaid the whole lot with 25mm before covering with 12mm OSB.
  7. Very nice indeed, enjoying seeing the progress of this build.
  8. Not really heard these guys before, really liked it thanks Nancy. The guitar tones are great!
  9. That's textbook J Mascis, can't even have an acoustic track without some ripping fuzz in the middle of it! I love his playing, so languid and loose 😎
  10. No worries, that sounds like a great combination you've got there. With a 4 ohm load instead of 8 ohm it's going to sound a 'bit' louder so in effect you'll have more clean headroom to play with, but with the 2 top quality pieces of kit you have, I doubt you'd be able to hear any differences in clean headroom as you'd be deaf by that point!
  11. If your head is capable of outputting 900w into a 4 ohm load (Which the barefaced cab is) then yes you will be getting the 900w pumping into it - Don't think it's going to sound almost twice as loud though ☺️ Is the head rated at 900w peak into 4 ohm?
  12. Company renowned for making top gear gets bought by company renowned for f@#%in’ things up = was only a matter of time before this happened!
  13. Came across as disappointed with Andertons to me when I read the post, was going to say not much they can do about it, it’s Mesa’s fault 😂 Sorry to hear about it being delayed, waiting for gear from the US is hard enough when it’s in stock!
  14. Could you not have donated them to local musicians/rehearsal rooms?
  15. @Kinder was selling a Trace Elliot head when I bought his cab off him, think it’s in the for sale section. Top guy to deal with and a great price for a classic head
  16. I don't want to keep kicking slap down as people are obviously free to like what they want but I've never liked it at all, and the more examples being listed on this thread to justify it are just reinforcing my dislike 😂 Maybe I'll go so far I actually start liking it. But then again... 😉
  17. Have listened to the David Crosby, Billy Corgan and Tim Burgess ones - all 3 were really good Only 20-odd left to go 😂
  18. Holy thread resurrection Batman. This was 7 years ago... 🦇
  19. That is one quality tune. Peter Tosh was incredible. Bless up.
  20. With all that mid and treble, you should start playing guitar instead 😉 You must have quite a cutting punky sound with those settings?
  21. The gain on my ABM 500 EVO II is normally around 3pm with my P Bass, seems to need a lot of input gain to get that meter moving! I do like adding a touch of the valve drive, really seems to fatten things up but get's a bit farty if it's too high.
