Bought Steve’s T Rex power supply. A fantastic chap to deal with - great communication, exactly as described and arrived super quick. Highly recommended.

This is next level shizzle. Such clean work.

I was looking at some DOD stuff on the OVNI labs compressor reviews site and they all seem to be Ross clones and seem to lose a lot of low end/more guitar focused - might be spot on if you're after a brighter pick style tone? http://www.ovnilab.com/reviews/dod280.shtml

The only person at a gig who loves a drum solo is the drummer. And maybe, just maybe an audience member who plays the drums. But even then it's like watching your wife having sex with another man.- 100 replies

Oooh thanks for the heads up @BlueMoon I did see this one a while back but forgot about it as it was out of stock IIRC Might have to take the plunge as it looks awesome, a fairly complex build but nothing outrageous.

I love a pedal build and have built a few of the Jeds Peds and FuzzDog clone type affairs in the past. One thing I've never built is a compressor, and as I'm in the market for one I was wondering if anyone has any experience of building one of the following? The Classic Old Dude compressor from Jeds which is a clone of the Warden by Earthquaker Devices - https://www.jedspeds.co.uk/product-page/classic-old-dude-compressor. This seems to have a decent feature set and is effective for bass. Was also looking at the Maskhole from the same place which is based on the Diamante, a alight variation on the Diamond Compressor - https://www.jedspeds.co.uk/product-page/maskhole-compressor The third option was FuzzDogs Engineer's Thumb which looks suitable for bass with a couple of component tweaks to retain the low end - https://shop.pedalparts.co.uk/product/engthumb Lastly, I'm putting together a stripboard version of the Flatline Compressor by John Hollis which is an optical design that's a simple circuit but is really effective for bass apparently. I'm not looking for anything miraculous feature wise, something that fattens up the tone, limits the peaks and boosts the lower volume notes and isn't too sterile sounding. Cheers

That was part of their appeal when they first started I think. That raw, stripped back sound and chunky riffs worked well but you’re right it’s hard to keep coming up with new songs/variation with such limited resources.- 100 replies

Slightly off topic but definitely related. I like quite a lot of royal blood’s stuff and thought they might be a good option to take my daughter for her first proper gig. Went online and looked at the tickets in a couple of venues close to us and with booking fees they were pretty much £95 each 😵💫 I realise the band doesn’t have total sway over ticket pricing but I just laughed at how a ‘moderately’ successful two piece could be charging almost a hundred notes for a gig. and I say that as a fan. Obviously we didn’t go which was a shame I thought it would have been a great ‘remember your first gig’ moment.- 100 replies

Bought a set of Fender 62 Precision pickups from Geoff. They arrived really quickly, were well packaged and communication was spot on. An absolute pleasure to deal with 😀 Also, the tone and clarity from these pickups is fantastic, very impressed.

Do you have two spare 9v outputs on the pedal power? If you do you could use a y cable to get your 18v?

This is a thing of absolute beauty! Well done @Chopthebass for producing such a stunning looking bass, it looks incredible. Really looking forward to hearing some sounds.

These look immense well done Jon! When you have them landscape do the hf horns need rotating as well so they’re both vertically aligned or are they ok as per the photos?

I’ve noticed the sub-forum layout has gone squiffy when viewing on my iPhone. No images loading and repeat marketplace overview that looks like it should be hidden. Have cleared cookies and cache and still like it. -
Could it also be your amp/eq settings when in a band context? Are the frequencies of notes on those strings clashing with other instruments?
