I've moved over to Helix (again) and trying to raise funds for a new PA. Lightly used and always kept on a board. Really good condition with only one very small mark that I can see. Fitted with velcro. Original packaging. Really great pedal, has a lot of variation and can even get a bit synthy! £145 collected from Chelmsford, or £150 posted within the UK.

Bought this for a project which didn't happen. Been really reluctant to let it go since as it's a fantastic bass, but need to raise some funds for a new PA. Amazing flame maple body, super light weight, brass adjustable nut, low action, recent strings/setup and comes with dunlop flush mount strap locks and original gig bag. All in really good order. Would prefer collection from Chelmsford but due on a UK tour for a month from next week so meetup may be possible, or willing to discuss postage options as can get a box if needed.

I know I'm going to regret this but needs must as I have to raise some funds for a new PA. I've had this for about 6 months having purchased it directly from David at Retrovibe. My son has a 504 and it's brilliant, and I love stingray style basses, so when this came up I bought it on impulse. Since then it's had very light home use only, as I've mainly been gigging 5 string. Basically offers Musicman tones, with a jazz neck and 2 octaves. Lightweight at only 3.8kg or 8.2lb. The colour is amazing but hard to capture. Trying to photograph it at home this evening under artificial lights hasn't really worked, so the first photo is the stock one from when I bought it. Will update with current photos when I can take some good ones, but it's as new. £365 collected from Chelmsford or £385 posted at buyers risk. I am also working for a Tour next month (Oct) and will be up and down most of the country at various times other than the South West (but will be in Cardiff), so happy to meet at a venue. This is what David said about the bass: When the Davie504/EVO basses were in production I kept this one back because I had always wanted to create a modified model with a white MM-pickup and tort pickguard. I finally managed to source the white pickups and so here she is – a unique Davie504/EVO with all chrome hardware in a gorgeous surf green. I also added the essential parallel/series switch which I felt had been a serious omission when the bass was in production. Specification Body: Red Cedar Body Colour: Surf Green Controls: Volume, 2 x Tone, series/parallel switch Bridge: 4-string, high-mass, chrome BB404 Pickups: Retrovibe MM-style Alnico 12k (6k+6K) Neck: Maple, bolt-on construction, D-profile Fretboard: Maple with dots Frets: 24 Scale length: 34 inches Width at nut: 38mm String spacing at bridge: 19mm

For Sale as I've moved over to Helix and need to raise some money for a new PA! This is a fantastic unit for it's size and price point. I gigged it for about 6 months with IEMs and no backline and it sounded great. Very well cared for and always kept in case when not in use. Only a few minor scuffs underneath, and the touch screen is unmarked having always had it's original screen protector on until very recently! All original packaging and power supply. Priced to sell, £215 collected or £225 posted within the UK.

Lovely Sterling Musicman Ray35 in very good condition. Beautiful quilted top and roasted maple neck. Has been gigged and has minor signs of use - the worst of which are two minor dinks on the back (pictured). Comes with its original padded gig bag. Currently wearing a well worn in set of round wounds. Based in Chelmsford, and would prefer local pickup but do have a box so could send via Parcelforce at buyers cost/risk. Also I am working with a band on a small tour over the next month and will be in Southampton, Bristol, Norwich, Nottingham, Leeds, Machester and Glasgow, so potential for a handover if you can make it to the venue before the gig! Only for sale I am back to paying 4 string in my new band, and have plenty of 5's so am downsizing a bit to raise some cash. Not looking for any trades.

Really nice Sire V7 for sale. Unusual colour combo as switched the original white pick guard with a black one from another Sire I had at the time and I think its a big improvement! Has been gigged but in very good condition with only minor signs of use and no major marks or scuffs. The worst is a minor scratch on the back near the battery, which only really really shows if you tilt the bass and are looking for it.

That's not actually shielding, it's paint peeling and what looks like silver is actually just lots of dust - presumably from manufacture! But you make a good point, I will definitely clean that all out and put some shielding in and earth it all while I am working on it. I've just had another look at that middle tone control, and moving the capacitor/wiring slightly suddenly brings the treble back in! So the poor sound is definitely from there. All the electrics were loose when I got it so I'm not overly surprised. So going to get a rotary switch ordered and swap that out. Thanks all!!
-
Thanks for your thoughts. You're right about how tight it all is and I'll double check there are no accidental shorts that are effectively bypassing this tone pot. Might explain a few things! Even if it is I agree - a rotary switch is definitely the way to go!
-
Thanks for this - I'll check that thread + really appreciate the advice!
-
Yep absolutely correct!
-
Unless anyone can day otherwise I can only think the middle one is there for show and the capacitor value is such that it doesn't actually do anything!! I really like your suggestion of the rotary control, that's definitely something I'm going to look into. How did you set yours up? Did you have a 3 way switch so effectively rear coil/both/front?
