  1. Purchased this last year, had lots of fun with it but have my eye on something new. Just been restrung with a set of regular slinky's. Also I have replaced the saddle height adjustment screws. The originals had siezed (a fault with the relicing process which Limelight have now changed). The new ones are hex rather than slotted, so not period but much easier to use - but can give you the size details if you want to change them back! I asked Mark about this history of the bass a while ago and he said the following: Limelight 00137 is quite an early one - the 37th one made in fact, and finished in october 2014. Ordered as a 1960 Stack Knob Jazz in Orange over white with a Jazz width maple neck (Not actually an option in 1960 but it was common for necks to be switched). This build was ordered with the earth strip from bridge to bridge PU, but without mute holes, and no hootenanny button either. Also requested for the thumb rest to be in the upper position above the E string (Fender moved it to this position in 1974, before then it was below the G). Also had the later (1968 onwards) barrel saddles bridge instead of the threaded bridge. There are some nice pics of it on their website here: https://classicandcoolguitars.co.uk/portfolio/limelight-custom-00137-j-bass/ Weighs in at 4.4kg (9lb 12oz) Would much prefer collection from Chelmsford or local meet up, but may post at buyers risk and expense. Any questions let me know!
  2. I have 2 ABM's and have decided to let one go. Can't decide which to sell so am going to put them both up here and keep which ever is left!! The AMB600RC is a couple of years old. Rack mounted and comes with a new style FS4 footswitch. Excellent condition, always rack mounted. The footswitch and 2u rack were £150 on their own. Asking a firm £475 for this. The 500 is a 2012 15th Anniversary model, and has recently come back from a service/check over at Ashdown. It comes with its original slip cover and older style FS4 footswitch with fixed lead. Very good condition, some signs of use but excellent for its age. Looking for £300 for this. Would much prefer collection or possibly a meet up within a reasonable distance of Chelmsford. Will possibly post but would be at buyers cost and risk. Any questions let me know!
  3. Tentatively looking to sell my Big Twin 2. We'll cared for, great condition, original cover. Collection from Chelmsford ideally. I'm afraid I won't post/courier. Possible meet up within a reasonable distance. May well regret selling - but going IEM on a couple of projects so going to get a couple of cheaper modular 12's or 210's for when I need cabs. Thanks for looking!
  4. @Ander87 bought my Barefaced BB2 today - excellent coms, really nice guy - recommend!
  5. Peter bought some strings off me - nice guy to deal with and easy transaction - thank you!
  6. Just bought Dave's Line 6 wireless. Exactly as described, well packed, sent quickly. A credit to the Forum!
  7. This little bass punches way above its (very light) weight and price point. Only 3.2kg/7lb and very comfortable to play. Since I got the bass it's mostly been my back-up for gigs and hardly ever made it out if it's case other than occasionally for the odd Drop D number, and it always surprises me how good it sounds when does! However I have another bass incoming soon and I need to thin the herd to make space. Ideally pick-up in Chelmsford or meet at a reasonable distance but I may be able to pack and post at buyers cost and risk as I do have a box from Andertons. It's in really good condition, no marks/scratches that I can see. There's a couple of tiny dinks on the back of the neck (assume from a stand) that you can just about feel but don't show up on the pics. Truss rod moves freely and all electronics work as they should. Could definitely do with a new set of strings but best to let the prospective buyer choose and fit I think. Would prefer a straight sale but would consider a trade or PX with an Envelope Filter, Digitech Drop, or a Synth, Delay or Reverb pedal.
  8. Thanks mate, that's really good of you to have a look for me! I've actually got some on order arriving in the next day or two (for the princely sum of £2.09 from eBay) which I think are the right ones, but if not then I may well give you as shout and give yours a try! Cheers!!!
  9. To be fair I bought it second hand, and the bass was made in 2014, so I wasn't really expecting anything other than advice. What I didn't show was that Mark also gave loads of details about the bass and it's build, so that was really helpful and interesting.
  10. Just thought I'd update this thread as had a reply from Mark. Wasn't able to help with thread size but did comment on the seizing issue which thought might help others considering a Limelight. Mine was an early one apparently so they have changed their methods now! "Re the saddle screws - unfortunately we tend to use several suppliers, and I know from experience that the threads can differ, so I can't give you a definitive answer sorry. Incidentally, we do the ageing on the bridges (in fact all metalwork) in a different way now so that the screws don't seize in like they used to."
  11. Cheers, I wondered about contacting them direct, but as I bought it second hand I didn't feel like I could pester them. Will maybe fire Mark an email and ask for the spec at least!
  12. Absolutely, functionality should be key. Personally I'd have kept the grub screws out if the relic process entirely, they hardly show so don't need to be aged anyway! Also a new Limelight is £1100 these days, so not exactly a budget bass. Replacements are cheap but just a pain to have to do.
  13. Thanks Paul - the intonation screw is the same size/thread as the grub screws. Will order up some M3's and see if they fit 👍
  14. Hi All, I recently bought a second hand relic Limelight Jazz - absolutely love it. However where the bridge has been reliced and rusted, the grub screws have seized slightly in the saddles, and about half of the slotted heads have now broken during adjustment as they need a fair amount of force to turn, and so need replacement. They are about 12mm long but no idea whether the are metric or imperial, and don't have suitable calipers to measure diameter. Does anyone happen to know the likely spec of these, or how best to go about working out what thread the are? Thanks! Matt
  15. Purchased in error and opened before I realised they were medium scale! Totally unused and uncut, I opened up unwound the G and realised my mistake! £30 posted in the UK
  16. I just purchased a Purple Chilli Cab from Ed - really great guy - deal with confidence!!
  17. Hello @edirelandbass Sent you a PM about this last night, really interested but just need to check the dimensions, so if you could ping them over to me when you've got a mo that would be perfect. Mike made a bass for me this year so would love a cab to match! I'm just in Essex so not too far away. Cheers!
  18. Very much this ^^ Had a couple of band mates years ago who joined the Met - neither of them felt they could hold down a band eventually as there was the constant risk of not getting away at the end of a shift if they made a difficult arrest late in the day, or we're having to secure a scene with no relief available etc etc
