That's what I was afraid of... Thank you for your help! I guess, one day I should upgrade to something that can do both.

Hello there, I have the Bighead (HA-1) Mobile Bass Amp and I use it to record my bass on my computer (Windows) via USB. It is working perfectly with my bass, but this time I want to record what is coming from the AUX input of the Bighead. I can't wrap my head around why my computer doesn't get this input. If I plug my headphone on the Headphone Out Mini Jack I can hear my bass and the sound coming from the AUX input. For any owner of the Bighead, are you able to record sound coming from the AUX input to your computer? Thanks

The thing is that I live in an appartment in Paris. I can’t store any tools, wood or anything like that. So taking class seems, to me, the best deal to get an handmade bass made by me

Ain't that peculiar - Marvin Gaye It's not that hard to play but being on time, that is the hard part on me. I'm still learning to be as regular as possible with the timing and this song is helping me a lot with those off beat notes!

Is the phil jones bighead compatible with iPad?

Great video! Thank you Alright, I understand what you are saying. That's great because, at the moment, I'm working on "Ain't that pecualiar" by Marvin Gaye and I'm training to read the transcription from Standing in the shadown of Motown book. I'll try to "sing" along when I read it. It is a great exercise to understand which notes are used in the chord as well

Hello there, Since the world is in quarantine, I want to share the setup I put together to play bass via videoconference. I have this need since my bass teacher turn to Skype to keep the classes going during those dire times. Feel free to share yours or even suggest enhancement for my setup! Hardware: PJB Bighead HA-1 Sennheiser Momentum 2 JABRA Microphone USB Software: Windows 10 Voicemeeter Banana Skype Firefox (YouTube) VLC Bass: MIJ 92 JB62 How I set Voicemeeter: Hardware Input 1: Jabra microphone Hardware Input 2: Bighead via USB Virtual Input VAIO: Skype Virtual Input AUX: VLC/Browser Hardware Output 1: Bighead That's where I not quite happy with my setup: my microphone is with headset but I still need to connect my Sennheiser directly on the output of the Bighead, otherwise the person I talk to over Skype get a delay between the bass and the song.

Alright! Thank you all. It's pretty clear that I have a lot to listen to. For you "sight singing", does it mean playing the note and sing along?
-
Thank you for the clarification!

A perfect 4th is always between the root note and the other note?

Hi everyone, I want to progress with the bass and especially with the transcription. How do you manage to play what you hear? What are your tips? Do you have a list of song where I can start? Thank you

I didn't think about that part. Yet, it might be the most important one! How many have you made @Rexel Matador

Hello there, Few months back, when I was walking around in the city I live, I saw that a luthier hosts a class to make your own bass. Did one of you take this kind of class? Is it worth it? What should I check beforehand? I kind of want my next bass to be one madeby my own hands. I really like the idea to know each piece of your bass and the gratification that is coming with.

Maybe Owner of a lonely heart by Yes can drive people a bit crazy if you stick to the main riff. As said previously by other, once I'm in a shop, I don't know why but all I remember are the early songs I learned.

I have just recently discovered Nathan East (there are so many great session bassists to know!) and he made a method/dvd "The busines of bass". Is it good? Looks like it is hard to get a copy of it, though
-
Yes, it might the easiest/most natural choice to do.

Thank you for the warm welcome! So for you, an upgrade is not a bad idea? I guess Jb-75 pickups wouldn't be the best choice for me since my bass is a JB-62 reissue. I'll check around what are the possibilities for me.

Hello everyone, I have this JB62 MIJ 92 and I found it lacks some punch and I was wondering if some of you with MIJ JB changed the pickups. If yes, do you advice to do it as well?
-
Thank you for the kind messages! Obviously, no more concert right now, but I'm always on the positive spirit side ;) Before the strange days started I saw several concerts with great bassists. I hope I will see more at the end of all those things!

Since I'm new in this forum and I saw there is a lefty topic, I thought it was mandatory to share my bass! Here is my JB62 MIJ Fender built in 1992. When I bought it almost ten years ago, the guy told me one of the pickups wasn't an original but I don't know which one. I like the sound of it but, quite recently I was thinking of changing those pickups. Even though, I know that a passive will never be as punchy as an active without some extra devices, do you think it is worth upgrading my pickups? If you know a better place to ask this question, feel free to redirect me.

The famous one, Paris! I hope I won't stick too long there, but it is cool to live there for amount of concerts available

Hello there, After reading the columns in Bass Player magazine, I thought why not creating an account overthere? Basschat seems to be a fun community! About myself, I have been playing bass for almost a dacede but at a really slow pace. It only have been couple years I took it more seriously and since then I'm taking classes with a bass teacher. I'm expecting to learn new stuff as well here and find some cool stuff to listen to or play. Gear side, I have three basses: an Harley Benton bought on Thomann 10 years ago to start playing bass a '92 MIJ JB reissue '62 that is my main bass since I got it a fretless Kala UBass that I use when I travel and want to keep practicing I play mainly soul/motown stuff so I think I don't need to list my favourite bassists over here. Talk to you soon!
