1. I have had the same issue, I got it all off with a product called....wait for it.....'sticky stuff remover' yes honestly, and it solved it, most odd though. On ebay and Lakeland stock it.
2. Exactly! Super nice neck to play... M2000 is pretty much a jazz bass neck width L2000 = 1 3/4" M2000 = 1 5/8"
3. Hi Guys, Got this from Muzz recently and it is a superb bass, unfortunately (or fortunately) I have recently converted to 5 strings so must start divesting myself of my 4's. The M2000 has some great features, especially the electronics and the neck is gorgeous. 4. its such an unnatural feel that intro, never quite got it, just fall into it...
5. So, to cut a long story short, we have a great PA which consists of two subs and two tops, because of a strange logistic issue (too tedious), we tend only to use the tops and as we only put vox through, this is fine. Trouble is our drummer wants his kick drum mic'd up. So what I have been doing is bringing my Markbass 2x10" extension cab and he has a TC 250 head and we mic up his kick drum through that. This has been OK apart from the hassle of me bringing an extra cab I am not using etc.. We gigged this weekend and he started fiddling with the amp settings (not really knowing what was what) I think he is expecting a stadium filling bass drum sound. Well, we kicked off with Parklife, and JEEESSSUUSSSS, the noise coming from behind me was a massive bass warbling underwater phase drone, had to run back to quickly adjust eq. But it has got me thinking, my poor 2x10" is going to get quickly screwed up with this kind of use, so is it best I get him to invest in a 1 x 15" and save my MB cab, or will the MB withstand this kind of use (at normal usable eq levels)?
6. Cheers All, feels the right thing to do, and I need to persevere until it becomes second nature, neural pathways and all that....
7. Friends and fellow bass players I know, no problem.. random numpties not a chance
8. Following on from a previous thread, I did my first gig entirely with a 5 string. I took a 4 as a safety blanket but never used it. This has arisen from acquiring a Lakland Skyline 55-01 in a trade recently and finding that the string spacing felt very natural to me and meant that the transition became easier. And having that extra availability of a B string opened up some great possibilities. Surprisingly only mis stringed a couple of times (I was expecting a lot more). My rationale was that it is all very well at home and a rehearsal but until you have gigged it doesn't count. Following on from this I have just done a trade with Woody to acquire a second 5 which also has a wider string spacing and these pair will now be my gigging weapons of choice for the forseeable future. What I need to find is some decent learning material for the five string, any suggestions?
9. Bump for a bargain usable bass!
10. HI All, Got this in a trade recently and while it is a surprisingly great bass, I am transitioning to 5's so this has become surplus. It is this one: £150 for a very capable bass.
11. Used to be mine I believe, a beautifully made instrument!
12. Mine has arrived today postmarked from Chicago, only had a brief look, but for £2 seems a bargain, but my carbon footprint has taken a battering!
13. Just did a trade with Ben, everything as it should be, great communication, top bloke to deal with.
14. Used the Lakland at the rehearsal last night, played our entire first set with it, and felt pretty comfortable with it, only slipped a couple of times. Went on to do the second set with a 4, and amazingly that felt weird for the first couple of numbers! I think it may well be worth persevering with the Lakland.
15. So, I have dabbled with 5 stringers several times, always have one kicking around for the odd noodle (Ibanez ATK305), but always gig four stringers. Recently acquired in a trade a really nice Lakland 55-01, sounds great plays incredibly well, and whether it is the slightly wider string spacing or the flatter profile neck I find I can play it without the normal mindfog of adapting to the extra string. So I have been picking it up as a preference to four stringers recently running through the set in readiness for a wedding gig this weekend. I have a full live band rehearsal tomorrow night and I am going to try and run the whole set with it. I have it up for sale because I felt that I was still a four stringer......but I am just starting to wonder......
16. Hi All, A pair of 4 string Jazz pickups that came out of a PRS SE Kestrel Bass in perfect condition and fully working. Yours for £45 posted Cheers Stuart
17. Chris, Unmodded other than a genuine Lakland pick guard, gig bag, and weight approx 4.2kg. Really good condition, really nice instrument. One too many strings for me. Courier postage insured circa £23 Cheers Stuart
18. Absolutely beautiful Lakland Skyline 55-01 picked up recently on a trade here, in natural with a genuine Lakland scratchplate in fantastic condition. I believe it is an 06 Korean model. Sounds great, plays well, I just don't think I am a 5 string player. (I keep dabbling) I will post pictures tonight if there is interest, but I have a suspicion it may be this one: (If it's not it is basically identical to this one!) http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry3098631 Apologies to the OP of this, hope he doesn't mind me reposting his ad! Cheers All
