Hi guys! Wish me luck, it's the first gig of my band with our new singer. We have put a fair bit of effort in rehearsing and building a decent set list, and we will be playing an open air concert in aid of Armed Forces day, we are the only band playing and will hit the stage at around 6pm. All this and open air too! It will also be the first time I will have gigged with a 5 string. Anyway, just loaded up the car and off into the sunset....

Action looks a little low...

Good feedback guys, the bass is a lovely Yamaha BBN5, the strings are Rotosound roundwounds. On my fours I am using 105 - 45's, I like a punchy tone but with warmth. Cheers Stuart

Hi guys, I have started using a 5 string after many years and wondered if a lighter gauge of string might be a better bet than the 130 set I am currently using, any advice? Cheers Stuart

HI All, This is a number I have covered for years in E, which works perfectly to get that necessary drone, also a great RSI test! However, new singer, song has been dropped to D, I am having a nightmare getting it to sound right, I am using a fiver to utilise the B string, but if any of you know any good tricks other than detuning (tried that, not right), or a drop d-tuner (haven't got one don't really want to fit one). Just thought I would ask Cheers Stuart

Hi Guys, I have starting using a really nice Squier Silver Series Jazz I acquired on this very forum, but I am curious to peoples opinions on which strings best suit this bass. I understand this is a little subjective, but I bow to the great wisdom of the basschat machine. Cheers Stuart

Hi Guys, Got this is in a trade recently and it is as brand new, complete with fitted case, case candy including a really neat swiss army style tool kit! It is a very versatile bass and sounds and plays wonderfully well, its just that I fancy going back down the Fender-esqe passive route. It is as the link below http://www.ibanez.co...=2&series_id=17 I will post pics if there is interest but it is totally unmarked and as new. For a quick deal £500 plus postage or collection always welcome or a meet up if not too far. Would be interested in any interesting trades along the precision/jazz or maybe even Ray route. Cheers Stuart
