  1. Just clarify for me, which is the spoof ?
  2. Fair point.
  3. As a dignostic you could tempoaraily raise the action on that string and see if it goes away.
  4. Thankfully you can still bu traditional Lead/Tin solder, and for occassional /manual/home soldering this is definitely the way to go - just don't eat it !! (and try to avoid breathing the fumes).
  5. Re "only shipping when paid". Is it not a bit odd that we say we will only ship when paid to avoid scams/rip offs, yet we expect the buyer to part with his money with no guarantee that we will post him anything? Cash on collection is the only way o go with this, but of course you severely limit your market (unless you live in London or somewhere big).
  6. The one who used to sing with Robin Trower. I believe he died.
  7. Bollocks more like. Actually the dielectric might affect the capacitance, and a low capicitance will let more treble through. Possibly their cpacitance is high, cutting the treble and thus making you think you've got a stronger bass signal. Don't even think about skin effect as it is negligable at signal level audio frequncies.
  8. I think he's probably playing the way he wants to.......
  9. Other decent makes of pot are available.
  10. Well said. I was about to add that the OP asked for so specific hardware recommendations, Not a critique of his style, which I presume does what he want's it to.
  11. E E E E A A A A E E C C And so on.
  12. Obviously didn'tbhurt that much if your first thought was to photograph it rather than bandage it up! - Sign of the times I guess.Sign of the times
  13. My first was a home built 1974 vintage, 31.5" scale vaguely P Bass shaped (I'd never held one at the time). Sapele neck and Utile body, home built active tone controls, and some second hand pickups (one cost me £2, and the other was £1.50 as it had a dent in it). - It's still in my dining room mostly gathering dust.
  14. Make it a lined fretless with ivory fret markers. They probably won't even notice the wood!!🙂
  15. I like the sound (as in description) of the Marcus Miller (never actually heard one), but I'd have to do something about the Facia plate with his picture on it (Nothing against him at all, just pictures on amps).
  16. Warwick ones seem to be closely related to the Dunlop ones (Completely compatible), who also make the flush fit version. I love the idea of the Flush fit version, but it does mean that, in a fix. you can't use any old strap.
  17. Personally I'd go for a metal grill every time. "Vive la difference" eh.
  18. I image that the basic length of the pipes would follow the same sort of pattern as fret spacing, though as there isn't a 'hard' end these may need adjusting for end effects.
  19. Absolutely right - finger or brain trouble I fear!
  20. As a one time folk musician (amateur) I got to play some really old tunes. One was written 1615 - but we played it in 4/4 anyway !!! Boom Boom. 🤑🤗🤣
  21. Hello Peter, Saw you first playing with The Shortlist many many years ago, and then with Buddy not quite so many years ago at Wilbarston Village Hall (rather posh as village halls go). Special Kudos for building your own basses!
  22. As already said, break it down o twos & threes, or come up with a spoken phrase that gives the timing Eg: 7 = 2 + 2 + 3 = Gina Lollo-brigida. Obviously 7 also = 2 + 3 + 2, for which a different phrase is required.
  23. So when is he over next? Perhaps you could drop some hints in his direction.
  24. He said that they average about 8 pounds! 🙂
  25. Is that Pete Stroud?
