Ok I'm gonna say it - he's been dead long enough now...
Ace of Spades. Forty-ish minutes of melody-free garbage.

Loved the short acoustic bit he did in that advert though.

My guitarist loves come together by the Beatles and wants to open shows with it.

Great song, but I wouldn't class it as an opener.

The weight is the main thing putting me off, my HB Jazz was far too heavy, so just interested in weight...
Just think of weight being 'Heft', and then it becomes a good thing.
And it's "The Weavers Answer" by Family, goose bumps and shivers every time. This should be classed as one of the all time great songs, up there with Bohemian Rhapsody etc, except hardly anyone knows it.

Was that by any chance in 81/82?
The original possibly, but I've always played it in straight 4/4.

Stu Hamm Urge Bass

I've got one of these (in black). It's a beautifully built bass and lovely to play, but I must say that the difference between the P pickup and a particular blend of the the two J pickups sound almost identical to my ear. Perhaps I am cloth eared, or just doing something wrong.

But cars are probably an improvement, can't say the same for streaming or downloads
Digital in itself is an improvement, what recording engineers do with it re compression etc. is not.

I play in an orchestra!
When there is a solo woodwind part the last thing anyone tolerates is a whirring fan!

Just tell them to blow harder!
Just noticed this myself and was going to make highlight the fact, but you've beaten me to it.
The price he paid was slightly below what I'd have expected, but still a considerable sum for the charity. Seems odd he knew that 2 weeks ago it was worth less than £600 on the open market, and now he thinks someone will pay over twice that in the same market place. £1300 is way too much however, so I find myself hoping that it doesn't sell for anywhere near his asking price.
- and I won't be buying any camera equipment off him knowing his mark ups!!

I can't buy creosote or proper varnish any more.
The water based products we get these days are not as good as the old "nasty" stuff.

Or weed killer - "Pathclear" used to be brilliant (20 years ago). Completely ineffective these days. And tumble weed is sh*t as well.
Also "Super Glues" just don't stick like they used to.
I had an A Style bridge off them (16mm spacing so no rails between the saddles). Took an absolute age to come (I think they quoted a month and it took three)and when it did come the saddle location grooves did not line up with the grub screws. I was really pissed off, but they did get a replacement (which was perfect) to me very quickly. It then turned out that I had a problem with the height range but, becaus eof the earlier problem, they custom made a chrome plated spacer for me FOC.
So, dodgy quality control followed by excellent remedial service.

Not that I've ever bought one, but as they said about Elvis.... 6,000,000 fans can't be all be wrong.

On that basis: Eat sh*t; 600,000,000,000 flies can't be wrong.
