Much dingier than I expected but, to be fair, coming directly off Charing Cross Road you could hardly call it a back street. Didn't look at any basses or gear but looked at some keyboards with my wife. The Rose Morris Piano and Keyboard shops seemed the most impressive in that respect.

Also, be aware that there are different wall thicknesses available. I have found that the light weight ones split circumferentially after a few months of use, but if you go too thick it ends up too rigid so you just move the stress point from where the cable leaves the plug to where it leaves the heatshrink. And, of course, if you take 12mm and shrink it down to 6mm the resulting wall thickness will be grater than if you take 9mm and shrink it down to 6mm. Not a great fan of the glue lined stuff as strain relief as the glue itself, and the fact that it does glue to the cable, again makes it too rigid. All IMHO of course.

I had the pleasure of seeing Wilko with NWR and the drummer in the Summer of 2103 (Wickham Festival), and then, later the same day the full Blockheads with Wilko guesting on a few. I think I actually posted here at the time because both shows were incredibly tight, and both rated among the best live shows I have ever seen - and this was at a time when Wilko was officially dying (before the major surgery). Makes it hard to understand how this hootanany performance got to air.

There is no harmonic at the 4th fret! There is one at 3.9, and one at 4.4. Similarly for the "3rd fret" there is one at 2.7, and one at 3.2. On the left hand you want the lightest of touches with the smallest possible contact area. Try using the side of the finger tip rather than the pad of the finger tip, as it is a much smaller radius (one my fingers at least) and allows a smaller contact area. The aim is to force a node at the point of contact, thus killing any frequencies that would require movement at that point, but not to dampen surrounding frequencies.

SRV was brilliant, with great feel, and technique, but not really ground breaking or revolutionary so I'll withdraw my nomination for the list (Still bloody good to listen to and learn from though).
