Maybe I'm reading a different thread. The first page is full of people wanting the driver hung drawn and quartered.
Not me necessarily, and I'm very sympathetic about the terms and contracts that many of these people have to work by, BUT, I'd be very surprised if his contract said that he should sign it himself and throw it over a fence. Would the driver have known that was a relatively robust bass guitar, rather than say, a mirror? If it was a first offence than perhaps give him warning or suspension, but for all we know this could have been one of many complaints. We have assumed that the driver is a hard working oppressed worker doing the best he can, but for all we know he might just be an ignorant twat!. The OP did not demand the man's head (or job) on a plate: That decision was made by parcel Force. All the OP did was to complain about bad service, which was absolutely the right thing to do. By contrast you seem to suggest that if you pay for a service and don't get what you paid for then you should just not say anything about it, which sounds like a recipe for perpetual bad service to me.
I just don't get the s**t that's been thrown at the OP for daring to complain that an item he had ordered and paid postage to be delivered signed for was dumped into his garden overs gate, left to the elements and his signature fraudulently applied to say he had received it. The comparison is in both cases someone did something wrong, and the company they work for decided to let them go. The OP didn't ask for him to be sacked, that was the decision of his employer. Must have come under gross misconduct. So any time someone providing a service does something monumentally wrong we should put up and shut up? Total b***s.
+1 from me.

Well with the new pictures you can see that the one in poole has distinct lack of paint around one of the Knobs. No wonder he used the other ones.

Songs You Really Don't Like Playing?
Count Bassy replied to yorks5stringer's topic in General Discussion
We currently have Are You Gonna Go My Way (Lenny Kravitz) which I dont mind as a song but really dont like playing.
Love the song and love playing it. The current band does "Shape of Things" in a Badlands Style, which I don't enjoy playing at all. -
Not a great fan of slap, but that was actually quite tasteful.

That made I larf, that did.

Yamaha Bass - Input Socket Kettering
Count Bassy replied to CyberBass's topic in Repairs and Technical
PS: It's an output socket! -
The problem is that there is so much money in this sort of development that the odd ten grand here and there to the planning committee barely registers.

End of a era, but the legend will live on. Can't really be sad - he got to 89 and was gigging until last October! I loved his guitar and his singing. I think someone here said that never has a guitarist managed to get so much feeling out of a single note. What a guy! RIP BB

Why are singers (generally) averse to lessons/instruction ?
Count Bassy replied to Coilte's topic in General Discussion
And another thing! Why do singers seem to think that it is their band???? -
Why? Because they are deluded, narcissistic chancers who believe they have God-given talent and you should think yourself lucky to be in the same room as them. I think they are worthless, feckless, lazy bastards who should be lashed until they drop. These are just opinions, of course.
This
Some singers seem to have the attitude that if they've turned up at all you should be grateful. And while I'm on, what's with all this carrying around scraps of paper and tatty notebooks with lyrics written down? Is it to make them look important? I've taken the trouble to learn my bass lines well enough that I don't have to consult any literature while I'm playing, so why do vocalists think that it's OK to peer myopically through their bifocals at their spidery handwriting when singing? This is bad enough at rehearsal (they should have learned their crap at home, rehearsal isn't for learning stuff), but when they do it at gigs (whether it's my band or not) it makes me want to punch them! AND ANOTHER THING, they can't (or won't) count bars, either! They routinely come in too late or too fricking early, or not at all! THEY'RE NOT PROPER BLOODY MUSICIANS! Stupid fecking worthless unprofessional bastards!! They must be lashed!! There, I've said it.
And this except for BassChat members of course. (Our singer doesn't even have his own microphone, and stands around chatting and smoking while all the gear gets set up! Grrrr.) -
Class D Active Full-Range PA Speaker for Bass
Count Bassy replied to discreet's topic in Amps and Cabs
Don't know about the active part of it, but I have often played bass through my Shermann full rage cabs (15" + 6" + Tweeter), and it sounds brilliant. -
Personally I find that these "Tall/hanger" style stands get in the way too much on a tight stage. Much prefer the ones that support it from the bottom and only stand about 300mm high. (but have the Hercules wall hangers at home).

Quite possibly the most expensive 12" driver I've seen!
Count Bassy replied to xgsjx's topic in General Discussion
Have you told them? -
Saturday was my first wireless gig, and I've got say I loved it. I wasn't dancing around, but being able to move on the stage when required is brilliant. Also the bands first gig for quite a few months which, combined with a lot of new material, made me quite nervous. A few silly mistakes made I'm afraid, but all in all a great gig and well received. I think that the singer might at last be realising what a general pub audience wants to hear!

I've had a LM3 for a few months now, but have only just got round to asking this question. If I turn up the treble at all (into a Vanderkley 112MNT) then there is a very noticeable hiss, even with nothing plugged in. Not normally a problem for me as I normally have the tweeter dialed right down, and rarely boost the treble (and if I do I do it at the bass rather than at the amp). However: is this normal, or does it sound like a fault? I also have a Carvin BX700 which remains completely silent in the same circumstances (but I still prefer the LM3 sound)

What do you mark your mixer channels with ?
Count Bassy replied to Les's topic in General Discussion
I have long magnetic rubber strip with printed self adhesive labels (and blank ones on spare channels). Thing is I have different strips set up for different bands (one ceilidh, one rock - so very different line ups), so trivial to swap over. -
Rechargeable NiMH are best for metal.
Here's hoping that he pulls through..
I share the sentiment, but given his age and it's described as 'Hospice care', it doesn't seem very likely.

I've sat in a traffic jam plying bass while in the driving seat. Obviously not moving at the time though!

I had Hand, Foot and Mouth disease. Now my fingers hurt!
Count Bassy replied to Thunderpaws's topic in General Discussion
I had it many years ago, but it all cleared up in a week or so. -

I'm wondering why there are two blacks and two reds going in to the enclosure. Unless there is a separate feed to the tweeter (with no cross-over)
