Bass to lead to amp here. Although I do have a wireless system, and sometimes add a tuner. But definitley no effects.

Ah, but those are Trace Watts!

I would also point out that Adrian got all the sounds he needed without the use of any pedals. To quote red dwarf:" What a guy "

And "The Alliance", which had Tony Martin as singer until Black Sabbath stole him. I live in the same village as Ady and knew him pretty well, having played in a local band (Get One In) with him (and his drummer brother). The best rock guitarist I've ever had the pleasue to play with, and with none of the ego. An all round lovely man who will be missed terribly. Even though we knew it was coming I am gutted, as will be most of the village and any one who knew him. The Alliance had been planning to record and release some of their previously unreleased material, see photo below. Adrian is far right in this photo, sporting his typical grin.

Clun, Chapel Lawn: all takes me back to my youthful "formative" days in Bishops Castle.

Not while I was playing, but "Can I have my money back?"

That's fine, as long as you don't cut it short halfway through a repeat.

Sadly never played it in a band.

Thank you all for your thoughts on this. Unfortuantely for me opinion seems to be split down the middle! (I haven't counted them). I think what I'll probably do is do a couple more rehearsals with them and see how I am feeling after that. It's not that I don't like Metal, as much as I've never really paid it much attention, so I might get to like it. It is certainly good to have something to work towards again

I have provided PA and lights to my current Ceilidh band (in which I play melodeon) for about 25 years, without charging. The old kit is now getting a bit heavy for us to lug around (It hasn't got any heavier, but we're all getting old and decrepit). I said to the band that I needed to modernise it to a lighter system, but would have to charge a bit per gig (not so many these days). Tha band all said NO! You buy it, tell us what it costs and we'll all contribute equally, BUT the PA remains yours. I.e they appreciate the free use over the last 25 years, and are happy to pay restropectively for its use. I consider myself very fortunate to have such good bandmates (Who thankfully can all afford to make that offer). Perhaps I should have posted this in the "Daily Awesomeness" thread.

I have just recently joined a band (two rehearsals in). They are nice people, seem pretty good at what they do, and seem to like what I do. They/we are still someway (months) from being ready to play out as the singer is also new. The problem? They are an originals Metal band, and I am not really into metal. I am much more into blues, classic rock, and old style R and B, so if we were playing up the local pub I probably wouldn't bother to go and see us. However it is a band to play in, which I've not had since pre lockdown. What do I do? What would you do? I worry that If an opportunity to join a bluesy band came up then I would be very tempted to jump ship, thus letting this band down. Especially if the bluesy band had a vacancy for piano/saxophone, which Mrs Bassy plays. BUt then there arn't that many opportunities around. Is it a bird in the hand thing? What would you do?

Shame she didn't say "Yes", really.

Just to confuse the “Tone” debate further!

Since eddy currents seems to be the most scientific explanation of the effect (if there is one), then I would expect screening the back of the pickguard and the Pickup cavities to have a similar effect. -
If it was me I would. In the old days when 50Hz main was the main problem you might get away with it. These days with all sorts of high frequency electrical noise in the environment you really should make that cage as complete as possible.

The Blockheads featuring Norman Watt-Roy

Just watched a bit with the new singer on youtube. VOcally he seems pretty good. Antics wise he comes over as trying too hard to be Ian Drury. -
True, and it also would save having to mess about with tuning it.

What do we mean by line level? A professional standard is 1V + 4db, which equates to approx 3.5 volts Peak to Peak. Well with the capability of a 9 volt battery.

I agree to some extent, but not to the extent of absolute silence which some people seem to expect or feel entitled to. Complaining about small amounts of noise is just as selfish as making excessive amounts.
