Too high SPL, is the band or the venue responsible?
Count Bassy replied to Dandelion's topic in General Discussion
I've been trying come up with some new acronyms. Nothing firm yet, but I've got a few initial ideas. -
Go away Mickster ...... You're far to sensible for this place.

bass and it's effects on marriages
Count Bassy replied to Dom in Dorset's topic in General Discussion
I can't believe no one's said it yet , but......... Which bass is best for marital? -
Is it just me that is slightly disappointed with the content of this thread. From the title I expected photographs of a bare legged Bilbo, or at least in a kilt or something. And Bilbo, bring back the carrots!

A nice cup of tea.

Bass input cutting out - Lead moves in the input - FIXED!
Count Bassy replied to MarkG3's topic in Repairs and Technical
It's an output. Sorry for the pedantry.
+1 -
All I know about your bass is that it has a popping output, not an input
Beat me to it.
You may not have heard of it but it's another useful tool in the wonderful world of ebay that's worth using.
And I'm sure I will now I know about it (but I'll still use the watch list to observe as well)
Useful if doing a completed item search is beyond you.
Never heard of such a thing, and I don't need to use it because I just stick them on my watch list!!!! After all it is called a "watch list" not an "I intend to bid list".
-
I also do this. A guitar i rather fancied a couple of years ago was listed at £500 didn't sell and went down £50 every time it was relisted until it reached the sort of price i thought was too good to miss. So yes it is worth doing!
Yep, This is how I got my DBS7400.
I will put a watch on a fixed-price item so that it gets sent to my list of items that I'm thinking about buying, so everything's in one place. That's all.
And if you watch it an item, you get to see if it sold and at what price. Helps you build up an idea of what the going price for such an item might be, for future reference.
That does nothing for me at all! Funny how we are all so different, if I made a list of everything I would not want in a bass it would look exactly like a king bass
I've got to agree on that particular example, On paper the spec ticks all the boxes for me, as per my earlier posting, but visually that one doesn't do it for me (I like fairly plain functional looks, fancy veneers or even solid fancy woods don't do much for me).
Any rcd you use can only measure leakage to a bonded earth point so wont trip if the path is via you direct to earth.
As I understand it an RCD measures the difference between the current in the live and the current in the neutral. Any difference greater than an amount (generally 30mA) will cause it to trip. That difference might be current going through you to ground. It doesn't measure the current going to ground directly. What an RCD won't protect you against is if you connect yourself between live and neutral (with no leakage to earth) cause you'll just look like a small extra load.
I'd have to say the worst Beatles cover I've ever heard is that bloody awful version of "a little help from my friends" by Joe Cocker. Absolutely f***ing atrocious.
Where as I would put up amongst the greats. Ah well, "vive la difference" eh.

At last - your capo questions answered!
Count Bassy replied to Happy Jack's topic in General Discussion
Just looked at some of her other stuff and revised my opinion of her. Brilliant!...... I'm now in love. And I still want some of what she's on. -
At last - your capo questions answered!
Count Bassy replied to Happy Jack's topic in General Discussion
I think she must be on something, and to paraphrase the famous film "I'll have what she's having" -
Never played any Status, but a 5 string headless King Bass with the bendwell (hence 32" scale), and 16.5mm string spacing would tick all the boxes for me. No idea what it would sound like, but I would still sound poor to middling. Would love to have one, but no way that my level or frequency of playing justifies that amount of money. And I wouldn't want to slap it or play Muse on it.
Just wondering if any of the contributors to this thread (those wondering how to avoid import tax) were outraged with Starbucks, Amazon etc. for their tax avoidance antics.
Seems I should have put a smiley face on this, but I didn't think it would be needed. it was just a quip, honest. I wasn't going to shop anyone to HMRC. Also, having gone back through the thread, no one seems to be actually advocating avoiding duty, so apologies if I cast unwarranted aspersions. Just a quip gone wrong!
When they do, they'll still call them handmade, like they do their CNC routed basses.
I fail to see the problem with using a CNC router. Far more accurate than a man would ever be.

The History of the Eagles - new DVD
Count Bassy replied to wateroftyne's topic in General Discussion
Generally I find the Eagles dull and wishy washy, with a few notable exceptions, one of which is "Get Over It". Unfortunately I've just joined a band that includes "Hotel California" and "Peaceful easy Feeling" in the set list. The first I can just about tolerate (better to play than to listen to), but the second is just dreary. -
Starting a band from scratch. Long, sorry...
Count Bassy replied to Telebass's topic in General Discussion
Your spec makes you sound like a bit of a control freak which might put off lots of people who otherwise meet your requirements (It would certainly put me off). As someone said already, you want no egos and then proceed to dictate what kit others are going to use. If you were going to use this as the basis of an ad then I would mellow it down quite a lot, get some people together and then talk about your ideas. -
What pisses me off is that they were "The Police" and then it became "Sting and the Police", which make think he's an arrogant self opinionated twat.
Having read peoples responses to this it looks like I got this wrong, so apologies to both Sting, and (completely separately) "The Police", and to anyone I may have upset here.
