1.
1 It sounds great. 2 The audience like it. 3 You learn from practicing to get it exactly correct. 4 You enjoy the freedom to copy whenever and whatever you want without taking notice of anyone calling you a slave. 5 etc. Play what you want, play what works for the song, don't be a slave to supposed originality.
Actually, to be fair to you and the others that replied to this, I don't have a problem if anyone wants to copy the original exactly, I just get annoyed that some people think you have to do it that way for it to have any value, and I was (over) reacting to that. It just seem seems that slavish copying of an 'original' is OK, writing your own original is OK, but anywhere between is somehow looked down upon. My current band do Hey Joe in a Hendrixy style, Aint no love & Day tripper in a Whitesnake style, Icecream man in a Van Halen style (but a bit swingier). The point being that these are all covers themselves. Did that stop these people doing versions of them. No, and the world is a richer place for it. Oh yes, another reason play in a covers band is that I work full time and don't have time write material. And if I did have the time I still wouldn't have the talent!
 2. I play in a covers band because it is tremendous fun. and no, we don't slavishly copy an original note for note. What would be the point in that?
 3. Excellent.
 4. Westone Quantum is 32"
 5.
My singer uses a Nexus 7 thing and has a special mount that fixes onto a mic stand. He uses it for the words, set list and says he will have a way of controlling the pa with it in the near future.
Except that you have no idea what it sounds like to the audience if you're stood on the stage!. I guess you could have a trusted person in the audience giving you hand signals, but if they're doing that then they might as well be controlling the PA themselves.
 6. If nerves might be a problem (certainly was with my first dozen or so gigs) then start with a few that you know like the back of your hand. Get settled in with those and work up to the less confident ones. Of course you need to take the other members confident and less confident ones into account as well.
 7. I like the look of that, and only £430 (which seems pretty good for a half decent short scale 5 string).
 8.
Thank you... Apologies for the off topic (big time) - it's only a small kitchen, the Ikea bloke came and measured the walls, the windows, and the entered the dimensions in his computer and came up with what you see below. In a very small space we managed to cram, sink, cooker, oven, dish washer, fridge / freezer, washing machine and enough cupboards for crockery, pans, cutlery and food stuff. All I had to do was chosing the colour scheme and the type of surfaces, the cupboard doors and the paint scheme. The tiling was done by a higly skilled Hungarian chippy who also did the floors tiles, looks like laminated wood flooring but it's actually tiles.
I think you need to check for knots in your timber. Some of those cupboards look a bit warped in your photos.
 9.
- how much is a bass 'worth' compared to a pet - a Koi for example how much would you pay for a fish? As much as a bass?
Bass tastes better, so I'd probably pay more for that.
 10. I would get a band in, with the proviso that each of your bands (and you) gets to play a couple as well. It a your big day and you might want to be talking to the people who have come to share it with you, rather than being stuck on the stage. Also your band mates might prefer to just do a bit and enjoy the rest of the day with out having the worry of performing. Do you know a band that you're friendly with but don't play in, that you could get in for the event?
 11. Had Paulie's Vanderkley 112 MNT off him. It really was in absolutely perfect condition as he said it was. Full communications throughout and delivered exactly when he said. Would buy from him again without any worries. Thanks Paul.
 12. There's a lot of solo bass playing that does nothing for me. These are NOT they. I love this stuff, especially the sing part of the San Francisco one. Sadly way beyond my abilities.
 13. Thing is if you get a new member of a band then they will want to have an input into the set list, and a singer probably more than most. This seems pretty reasonable to me. What you could do is sit down and go through the two lists together and come up with a compromise. I was in a band for a while (playing bass) and basically they just wanted someone who would just play the exact bass line they were used to, without any creative input. Any suggestions I made were just ignored, any changes I made to the bass line were jumped upon, with the result that I never felt like a full part of the band. Its not as if they were a covers band that slavishly copied the originals. They did their own thing, but that option was not extended to me. Anyway I was on the point of leaving when they sacked me anyway (I think my discontentment was beginning to show), which was actually quite a relief - having the decision made for me.
 14.
4) Lesson are very expensive for someone hoping to take up the drums in London - at least £20 an hour.
In my experience £20/hour is cheap for decent music lessons, even out here in the relative countryside.
 15. You know, if it was in the UK I'd be tempted, though the lack bridge adjustment would worry me a bit.
 16. wtf is a "control surface player"?
 17.
Edit: I wear ear plugs but no one else in the band does. Perhaps they should
Or you could play more quietly?
 18.
I'm not going to disagree with you but if so it's a good argument for nobody ever to play a solo on bass guitar.
+1 I'm afraid. Possibly very talented, but also very dull.
 19.
Its worth a lot more than anyone will pay for it at the moment cos of the economy, most of us old boys are using markbass and the like, we've all got bad backs caused by carting ampeg 8x10s about for 20 yrs.
I would argue that it is only worth what someone will pay for it, so at the moment it's possibly not worth as much as you'd think/like. However someone may be prepared to pay more, and hence it be worth more, once the economic situation improves.
 20. What's with the moving bit of foam in the background?
 21.
I also have an Ibanez SRX500. I was quite thrilled with it when I got it, but I keep going back to the Fender now. The Ibanez just sounds too twangy. That could be the strings of course. I really should try changing them,
\ I had this with a SR505 - changed the strings to Status Hotwire ground wound and it transformed it.
 22. Do you enjoy what you're doing? Do others enjoy it? If so, who cares what you call yourself?
 23.
If that had four strings I'd be all over it
But with 3 strings it's got to be easier than 4, right?
 24.
See, what makes a superband..?? I wouldn't call them a super band as they were unknown before... ditto U2 That is not to say they aren't worthwhile etc etc ... but they aren't a super band by definition.. IMO Superbands, to me, is a band made up of already well respected players. Cream..?? Derek and the Dominos..?? CSNY. In that regard, I'd say Stuff... Gordon Edwards wasn't in the same league as the rest, altho I thought he did ok.
That's the difference between a "super band" and "super-band/superband", or indeed a "supergroup" as the used to be called, in which case I'd agree with your definition. "Blind faith" & CSNY being ones that spring to mind.
 25.
And about 10 minutes in someone will start questioning whether U2 are actually a "super" band or not. As you were ...
Sprang to my mind instantly, except in my mind there is no question. (just to clarify, I do not think they are a super band)
