1st Stop... whats local on Gumtree? I got a Ibby GSR200 for £50! Now wired VBT for simplicity of use and left the Phat II Some letter stickers on the fretboard to help them (and me...) along the way... 12th is quite far enough! And Custom Star Wars Stickers to make it his own...

Even cheap tuners can be improved and it's realy easy on Open Types. I take 'em apart and give the worms 'n cogs a wire woolin' to remove any rough edges of plating... reassemble with a dab of coppa slip, which is a little abrasive and give em a few good turns, to help em mesh. then clean that off and apply a dab of vaseline. Quick 5 min job on each machine head can realy improve the feel. Sealed types get a little squirt of spray grease in the tuner stem shaft gap... And a lot of tuning issues can be down to sticky nuts!.. So some pencil lead applied to the nut slots...

Ibanez. GSR200 or SR500.. It's all about the Ibby Neck.

Moving back to "normal" strings after filing nut slots
PaulThePlug replied to Paolo85's topic in Bass Guitars
Roto 88 are wide strings... Depends if you U round or more V slotted the nut... Might have a bit of rattlin in the nut... What sort of bass n budget? New nut or fill with superglue and baking soda... -
Zoom B1Four? Set 1 or more patches per song, and even name them... plus Tuner and Amp / Cab Sims so can go straight to a mixer if need be.

VW... Volksvargen or WoloxWagon...

Early talk was about the T'Bird at the neck... but pics of his 4004LK with the RickenBuckers... have a Seymour Duncan 'Lemmy' at the Bridge...

https://guitarskillsplanet.com/how-to-adjust-guitar-truss-rod/ 1/8 or 1/4 turn at a time then leave for a goid few hours or overnight. Good fitting Allen Key. If loosening, slacken strings...

Nut slot should be slighy slanted to the headstock, so the string rests on the fretboard side edge of the nut... these are flats on my acoustic.

^...mmm... Try the tap test... Fret the string at the 3rd fret... Between the Nut and the 3rd fret, there should be a little gap, giving a little 'click' when tapping the string on to the actual 1st fret bar (not in the fret gap) Bridge looks low ish, and i see what you mean about maxing the intonation. This might improve with a neck remedy as the speaking length of the string will become longer... Recon the relief is BIG... More Pic's... might need another pair of hands. Fret at first and where the neck meets the body... 17th fret ish... Whats the gap between bottom of string and top of frets 7 and 9? Again 'Tap' click test... Business card to Credit Card gap... would be ideal'ish... then Adjust Saddles to clear all or most frett buzz dependingbon what ya after...

You mentioned shimming the neck... how, what with, how thick and where did you put the shim? Looks like it could do with a shim at the back of the neck pocket... did you put a shim at thr front per chance? Side on pick of nut, neck body join and bridge would help...

Squier Classic Vibe 50's Precision Bass - NBD/Review. Astounding.

^Dab of vaseline on the worm n cog and give em a twist... On the cheapies i had i gave em a dab of Coppa Slip that is a little abbrasive, and a good few turns to remove any casting flashing and smooth out any edges in the platting. Then a clean with Carb Cleaner and dab of vaseline... loads smoother.... -
Other option may be to select tuner (without the Mute setting) as a quick bypass...

Not a real fan of the Tremolo Continued Wobble, or Auto Wah, but love a light Chorus, Phaser, or Flanger on a bass to give 'Space' and 'Movement' to what is usually a repetative phrase... well it is for me as a Hawkwind Fan! Convention is usually for the Delay to go at the end of the chain. Resulting in more of the same... Back im my skinny string days I liked to have my Phaser after the delay so the repeats 'Moved'. Try a Delay with a Few repeats, followed by a Slow Trem... Spose also depends if you are allowing the notes to ring on and join up, blending, or syncopating or muting to some degree or stopping before the next note for a defined repeat.

Just collected a 5 Slot Guitar Rack from Lap... He even offered a 'carry to car service' for the infirm! Nice.
