  1. Interesting... Some Apps are designed to show how good ya headphones etc are, others how good ya hearing is... cant always check one without the other. Sometime back when i got the Sennies HD206, things were sounding different, more soundstaged over my Sony ZX310, which are a great Folding Flat Headphone for taking out and partnering with my main Music device, a little Sony Thumb Drive MP3 Player. After some checks i thought the Semnhiesers were faulty, or a copy. There arrival coincided with a big drop in freq response in my left ear. Been to Docs and had a hearing test, been refered to ENT, had my Feb appt postponed, now due in March... Perhaps lots of loud music in my youth, or wind roar from motorcycles, i now wear ear plugs and have mild-ish tinnitus and hearing a low freq 'boomers' that used to be thought caused by gas pipe propergation. I wear ear plugs to sleep, that kind of reduces tge Sea Shell effect. Fingers crossed a remedy can bd found at the ENT appt. I'm 53.
  2. Just joined Rickenfakers... Lets just say I've been looking on AliExpress and asked about a Custom Build of something Plain with a Rear Route, as ever... and now have a 6 week wait. As youngsters say 'Fake It 'till ya Make It' (and can then afford a real one!).
  3. If the socket is loose on the plate, Sounds like the black nut could be cross thread on the socket... or just can't get enough purchase - what ya using pliers or a nice slim 1/4" socket? Right tool for the job n all that... If not a simple case of replace the jack... Again, where ya bassed!?!
  4. Is the socket loose on the plate.... Or a jack plug loose in the socket? If ya lead plug is loose in the socket, as RhysP suggests, gently bend the tag on the left in ya middle pic in a bit so the socket tab's curve fits nice and firm in to the groove of the plug...
  5. Do you mean you cant pull the plate further out as the contacts are getting caught on the body hole? Should be simple for those that know... But understand trepidation for those that don't... Where ya located? I'm sure there will be a Bass Chatter local to '...ploddy forward into the deep fundemold of the complicading forry to sort this one out matey...' (Small Faces, Ogdens, Unwin... but we all know that right?..)
  6. Depends, but Yep, love the lines and flow of certain basses... but no so much others. Likes a Simple P, J, Ibby SR, Ricky 4000's Love the look of my Harley B MBO850 Acoustic Bass... Not so much the new fangled Wal, Warwick Thumb or Yam TRBX type things, they just look 'wrong' and make my teeth itch. Same with Cars 'n Bikes. I'm very much a 'Form Follows Function' design wise, but the odd flourish is nice Got 'told off' some years back saying "Thats Georgeous!" when seeing a Benneli Tre in a bike shop...
  7. I'd deffo be up for this if its still about after i get over my 'Operation'... Pins, Plate n 6 Screws in ankle, done tib n fib... so on crutches, at the mo, but when i can drive again... I'm local-ish in Orpington. Don't spose you ever venture over this way, to get on the M25 or A21?
  8. What's local on Gumtree... Marshall MB15 or 30?
  9. The Mk1 Barts in the likes of My SR600 look like are Reverse P coils in a Soap Bar. Agreed an 'SR300P' with a Single P... Maybe Reverse P as is Ibanez' way...Preferably Passive... Or an 'SR300PJ' like the GSR200 but with the Pebble SR Body and Slimmer Neck of the SR.
  10. I'd be going Pilot Hole and extractor... https://www.screwfix.com/p/bolt-extractor-set-5-pieces/1112V?tc=FT3&ds_kid=92700055262507123&ds_rl=1244066&gclid=CjwKCAiA6Y2QBhAtEiwAGHybPazEp068303QkjuS_Ch6ar-IGrnEJdjztQXAJgKVJpYd5f1XZDVqthoCfxgQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds#product_additional_details_container The screw is in wood... not a rusted bolr bolt in an engine casing, or broken 'zorst stud... £3.50 is worth a go! Tang of a file works in soft brass... not sure about steel screw. Core-ing would be my last resort...
  11. Resting my broken ankle to Royal Blood, Typhoones...

  13. Apart from Stanley Unwin... Ogdon's Nut Gone Flake...
  14. Just seen this on ebay... www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Chrome-Tremolo-Bass-Guitar-Bridge-/144374296887 Might be of interest for some one to fit to a leftover body... or inspire a new build... Small size, simple and subtle design...
  15. Weather is still cold n wet... and now with a recent broken ankle... Bad Trip?.. Oh! The Irony... looks like it's gonna be about April untill the finish on this, and the ankle gets sorted... Oh well, at least i can put the near Week-Long 'Morphine Delirium' down as reasurch...
  16. Mmmm... Juicy Fruit! 😉 One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
  17. Q... You haven't wraped the string round the post have you, inducing a twist in the string, rather than taking up ALL the slack by turning the machine head? Short Scale... Also where has the start of the Flatwind stated, before it meets the tuning peg?
  18. Ric looks quite different without plate, binding and a simple bridge. I like... and anyone could knock up a letter... If interested i'd drop him a line(!) via band website etc...
  19. Same Strings... just fitted to an acoustic, sound loverly compared to the squeaky phosphor bronze things it came with... Didnt even have to touch the truss rod, just took a shim out to lower the action.
  20. @Happy Jack. Yep... Alice Cooper the band... before Alice Cooper the man Mates had a band called 'The Derek Nimmo's Blues Band'... But none of them was called Derek or Nimmo...
