You work out the thickness at the back of the pocket... (or the shim angle) by the amount you wish to raise at the bridge... Think of it as a right angle triangle from the front of the pocket to the saddles... the hypotenuse being the strings... Then think of a small triangle (shim) that sits just in the neck pocket... to give the same angle.

^ When i was looking... think it was for an Ibanez... i had to make do with a spline shaft... and make sure the grub screw of the knob alignes with the slot of the pot shaft.

Tried again today... Still Hard Work... perhaps just not for me. (Stripping it back to basics with some Black Keys to give my ears a rest...)

Buzz still there on Half Step Down rather than a whole step? Higher tension strings may help, but not ideal way to go... If a truss rod tweak dont fix it, if you think its the 3rd fret, have you checked? google 'fret rocker'... If it 'rocks' and mainly just that fret, i'd be inclined to givr it a light sanding... youtube will show you how...

Get googling on Dry Ice Blasting, Soda Bladlsting and Corn Cob or Husk Blasting Services for wood doors and furniture... a softer version of sand blasting... mask up the neck pocket edges with duct tape... nothing to loose...
