Micro amp suggestion for headphone practice?
PaulThePlug replied to BabyBlueSound's topic in Amps and Cabs
I've got a EHX... well built but just a plain amp but built like a tank... But I'd look for a secondhand B1on or the latter B1Four... £45ish...loads of bang for ya buck... Tuner, Headphone Amp, Effects, Amp and Cab Sims, Looper, Drum Tracks... -
If it is not needed that would be great! Thankyou. I've had the lid off and given it a good clean out of dust, fluff 'n general crud on the inside and a Sticky Stuff Remover and Mr Sheening on the outside... looks like new... had an old printer USB in the loft... looks like i'm sorted! Found it listed on Gumtree FREE for collection from an Arts Studio Workshop Space near Hackey... that was a Journey on the Scooter... Couple of roads, pull over, check the phone sat nav, couple of roads... repeat... but looks like i'm on a winner!

After Mucho Messin'... CEX are bobbins! 😞 I got a Alesis Q49 listed on Gumtree but no discs... pluged it in via USB and the octave and midi select buttons light up when pressed, so fingers crossed (which will make playing harder!) it works Registered the product and am able to download a copy of AIR Music Tech's Xpand!2 software... presume this is synth noises?.. from the Alesis site. The Q49 is meant to come with Ableton Live... Presume this is the DAW? But it is not listed on the Alesis site to download... and no serial code? Any pointers or recomendations for any other free synth drum instrument or DAW software for a PC?

Mis-Matched knobs, need strings, clean n set up... charity shop... £100? You can always bung 'em another £10 or £20 latter if all comes out well and ya feeling flush. Prolly be similar-ish in Crack Converters...

I got a sheet of little sticky 5mm letters of the bay... £1.10 used tweezers to stick em on up to the 12th. Neat Job? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1586-8-Small-Tiny-5mm-Alphabet-Upper-Lower-Letter-Number-Peel-Off-Stickers-Black-/174873768968?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0

Metalic Aubergine! Remember seeing an old Ford Zodiac done it Met Aub some 30 odd years back. Some memories remain... Again i'd leave the neck, a good clean, and maybe some 800 grit on the back of the neck to matt of the laquer and remove the stickynes

Nice and simple P alike... https://www.vintagejapanguitars.com.br/en/kawai-1984-aqb-catalogue/

Toothpaste is a fine abrasive... But might make the whole surface a bit matt.

Looking at the gig listing, It's billed as 'Ozric Tentacles - Electronic'... So I have a feeling it's just Ed on guitar and his Son on Keyboards with all the Drum 'n Bass programmed in... but hopefully it will be real live Bass and Drums... I'll have to wait and see... It will be a good night out whatever!

Ah Mr Vai!... Yep thats the kinda thing... But i'll probably go for a bit wider broarder bands of the 4 colours with a more gentle swirl... More 'LSD Psychedelic 'Oil Wheel'... less 'Ketamine Migraine' The Idea is a mix of trying a Hydro Dip, The Melting P Bass Body look of a Jazz Bass Body, together with the Slanty picups from the PJ535 for more melty looks, and Rear Route for more paint... and the fiver extra for a rear rout is way cheaper than a pick guard n bell plate... and PJ on a jazz body isnt as common as on a P Body... then getting a custom Fender look 'Acid Jazz Bass' Decal... and handy my Surname begins with an F! Fingers crossed it wil be a good trip! Dropping the neck and body off at a local cabinet maker to widen the neck pocket a mm or two... they made a great job last time on the P Bitsa.

The IEM (in ear monitors) Bible thread
PaulThePlug replied to EBS_freak's topic in Accessories and Misc
Looks like 2 (Dual Mono) or 3 Core (Stereo) plus screen... Mono Guitar lead as standard and then running the headphone out back in dual mono or stereo.... Cough @KiOgon cough! -
Glue, dowel, and re-drill. Got any old dowl bits from a flatpack ikea build job? Ruff or splined outside edges will help hold and transfer the glue rather than a too tight fit wiping it off. What size holes ya got? And how thick the pocket? I got a jar of odds and can stick some in the post!.. a squirt of wood glue... Sorted! As the body the holes are clearance less risk than plugging neck holes and them pulling out Use some masking tape in the neck pocket and something in the neck holes or wet ink around the holes to mark for the new ones... small pilots and cocktail stick to check, then open em up a bit at a time.

Which String or All Strings? Start by just a thin bit of waxy card or plastic shim, yogurt pot? just to rest in the bottom of the nut slot... See if that fixes it, if so lots of Youtube stuff about building up the nut with super glue and baking soda. I'd start there as its a free fix to the bass you've got. I love the Ibby SR shape and it is all about the neck... If you dont like the EQ maybe bypass or remove it and go passive with a @KiOgon loom. VVTT... VVT, VBT... coil pickup selecting and or coil switching.
